Good Afternoon All,
We arrived here yesterday afternoon and everything is wonderful - we are staying at Mickey's World and the townhouse is exactly as described. The beds are very comfortable and three bathrooms is a wonderful thing with three kids. We are so happy we choose to do townhouse vs onsite.
The backroad directions are wonderful - we were at MGM this morning for Star Wars weekend - the kids had a blast. We did a ton of stuff this morning despite the crowds (thanks to a sponsor of this site) and came back for an afternoon break/swim at 1:30pm after the Indiana Jones show.
We are heading back this afternoon for the Cars Stunt show, dinner, a few more rides and Fantasmic......

The townhouse looks awesome! Thanks for the review. It's always nice to hear about another option for our August 2008 trip!
Enjoy the rest of your vacation.

I'm so happy to hear that Windsor Hills is nice. We are vacationing there Oct13-20th and I'm still nervous about having made the choice to stay at WH vs. a name brand hotel/timeshare. Your post makes me feel better about my decision to pick WH. Thanks.:woohoo:

We'll be there in December, I'm glad it lives up to it's website pictures. Do you have a laptop with you or are you posting from an internet cafe... I've been curious about how we'll do the 24 hour advance check in for Southwest for our trip home. We'll have to check in on X-mas day since we fly on the 26th and I've been wondering if there is a computer facility/access at WH. We won't have a laptop with us.

There's high speed internet in a lot of the homes, but no public computer facilities or internet access type of setups in the resort. There is an internet cafe some have used on US-192 Irlo Bronson Highway over by the Giordano's.

Once in March when the internet wasn't working at our rented pool home, I brought my Macbook with Airport to the clubhouse. Sitting there, I was able to use it. Not sure whether it was a fluke, but just wanted to report my experience.

Do not worry, once you have vacationed at a private home you will not want to go back to a hotel!

Sorry, we have been having a blast and I haven't checked the internet!!!
I am posting from the dining room table from my laptop, there is a wireless connection in the townhouse. The internet connection works great and all of the equipment is in the bottom drawer of the cabinet near the dining room table. The plasma tv works great - at least during the few times we have actually turned it on!!!!
We haven't made it to the clubhouse yet, so I cannot tell you what is there!!!
I highly recommended this townhouse........the kids love, love, love the splash pool and so do I. Oh yeah, the w/d too - nothing better than going home from vacation with NO dirty clothes.

I was going to stay at mickeys world but they didnt have my dates available so I am booking now with the owner of mickeys world's sister. I guess the sister helped decorate both places. I would love to see pics of anyone that stayed there . Is everything as nice as it looks on the site? And did they ever put a freeze on the credit card for a security deposit? I forgot to ask how they do that. Thanks!
Yes the place looks exactly like the pictures - it is even nicer in person than the pictures!!! It's beautifully decorated and was sparkling clean when we arrived.
There is currently no hold on my credit card for a security deposit.
Will answer more later - have to get to bed so we can be ready to hit MGM in the morning!!!!

Where is the washer/dryer located? I couldn't tell from the "floor plan". Also, do the bathrooms have fans? Is there a bbq pit? Also, is there a shuttle bus to get to any of the WDW parks or water parks? We will have one vehicle, but DH likes to play golf and we wanted to know what our transportation options are (especially with a 20 yr. old DS who may want to go to a park or DTD on his own.)
Please tell me what "incidentals" I need to bring with me. Will I need:
toilet tissue
kleenex
dishwasher detergent
dish detergent
garbage bags
laundry detergent
dryer sheets
hand soap
bath soap
bath towels
larger pool towels
pool toys (like "noodles" & rafts)
I don't know what's provided and what I will have to bring. Please let me know if there is anything I'm forgetting to add to my list. It may be late when we arrive, so I'd rather know before I leave home.
Thanks!

Thanks for the kind mention Jen! :goodvibes Glad you're having such a great time, I try and tell people how great the splash pools are, we often tend to not make it to the clubhouse at all actually!
LSUmom...the washer/dryers are on the 2nd floor...in the hallway between the 2 upstairs bedrooms.
The bathrooms have the little fans common to most bathrooms, not ceiling fans if that's what you meant? I think you call them exhaust fans?
Windsor Hills does have a shuttle service to/from the parks..you can pick up schedules for it in the Windsor Hills sundry shop.... you'll also find a lot of information there on what is typically provided or not...although this will vary from home-home and owner-owner.
http://www.5mins2disney.com/faq.htm
How does the Windsor Hills Resort daily shuttle service work/operate/etc?
In the sundry shop in the Windsor Hills Resort clubhouse you can find schedules and make arrangements. Shuttle cost is $10 per person round trip to Magic Kingdom, Epcot, MGM, or Animal Kingdom. $14 per person round trip to universal, seaworld, and shopping areas. There is an information sheet at the clubhouse with the time schedule. The shuttle company is MAINGATE TRANSPORTATION. They can be called at # 407-390-0000. A taxi cab to Disney is $20 one way.. cab to Universal is $32 one way.... Don't forget it costs $10 per day for parking at Disney and Universal if you drive.
Will you need to supply these?
toilet tissue (typically just a starter roll is provided, so yes)
kleenex yes
dishwasher detergent typically yes, although we try and leave some
dish detergent typically yes
garbage bags possibly ...
laundry detergent typically yes
dryer sheets yes
hand soap possibly
bath soap definitely
bath towels no
larger pool towels shouldn't have to...ask the homeowner!
pool toys (like "noodles" & rafts) depends on the home...possibly
Check the FAQs link I posted for you...there's variation from home-home..but most vacation rental homes provide just a starter set of supplies and are defined as "self catering", meaning you will need to supply some items yourself such as those you mentioned. We didn't think this was that big of a deal, but like you, we wanted to know in advance what was provided and what wasn't.

I am glad everything is living up to your expectations. My family and I (total of 9 people) will be staying in a 5 bedroom home in October. I can not wait, and with each mention of how great windsor hills is it makes me more anxious to get there!
Thanks for providing the list of needs, so when I am at the store picking up food and drinks I will no what else to buy!

The owner just emailed and said that the toilet tissue and a bar of soap in each bathroom will be provided. There is a "sundry shop" if we need to purchase anything else.
I guess I'll be bringing everything on my original list. I'm glad I know what to bring. Each owner is different so I'm glad I asked.:thumbsup2

The sundry shop is great if you need something quick and close...but it's a lot more expensive than going to the "big" grocery store...there's a Publix about 1-2 miles away...go west (left) down 192 and it's on your right. If you keep going to 27 and go north on 27 there's a Super Walmart immediately on your right...that's where we tend to go for our initial grocery shopping excursion (it's the cheapest, takes about 10 mins to get there). The key being, you now know what to buy when you hit the store! :thumbsup2

Yep, we went to the Walmart too. Be aware right now they are doing construction on 27 and it was very easy to miss the temporary entrance!!!!
BTW, we are home now!!!! Cannot believe that two weeks of vacation is already done...........My kids are already planning their next disney vacation.
