I know I've gotten pretty wet from Splash Mtn in WDW - but I saw in a previous thread below that a person was soaked from head to toe (shoes included). So I was wondering if I'll get so soaked that I should bring a change of socks and shoes??
Stupid question I know and I can take getting soaked, but I just can't take walking around in sloshing shoes for too long or my feet will really start to hurt.
Thanks in advance.

Last week my son got REALLY soaked. LOL It was hot and he seemed to dry off pretty quickly though.
Wouldn't hurt to bring in an extra pair of socks and shoes if it will be too much of a problem for you though!

yeah that person was me. however i was in the very front of the log, the wettest seat in the house. if you sit in the middle of back you don't get that wet. but yeah it doesn't hurt to bring a change of clothes with you in a backpack. my g/f got soaked and changed her shorts and shirt. me on the other hand walked around soaked for a few hours.:)

My limited experience is that Splash at MK is "wetter" than DL. At MK they have water shooters designed specifically to get you wet. They do not have these at DL. I have ridden Splash at DL many times and did get soaked once. But usually it is not as bad as MK IMO.

I hate the sloshing. The worst is wet denim. It takes forever to dry. How about getting those extra large ziploc bags for the footwear. You can fit a few families worth of shoes in that.
We carry one large gallon size for cameras and phones.

yeah don't wear any jeans or jean shorts when riding splash. i wore my dickies shorts, and they dried pretty fast. also mesh type shorts will try fast as well. but not any sort of jean product. they take forever to dry and feel super heavy.

My sister bought them for me for my birthday, so I'm not sure exactly where she got them. They can be found LOTS of places now. Amazon.com has them. I hear WOD sells them. If you do a general froogle search for Disney Crocs you'll see them all over the place.
Mine are the "pearl/pink" version and oh so posh! :cutie:

Both of my DDs have matching Pink/Pearl Disney Crocs :) They are in my avatar. We'll all be wearing 'em when we arrive at DL on Tuesday! :cool1:
I was reading this & it totally reminded me that I will be bringing some extra socks for this very reason! (Yeah, I'm going against all better fashion advice & I think I'm committing the cardinal sin of planning to wear my MJ Crocs w/socks :rotfl2: )
Plus, a good idea would be to bring a large ziploc bag to seal electronics in during wet rides (camera, pda, cell, etc).

In 2004 we came off splash and went and had our photos with Winnie and Tigger, end result was a photo of me and Tigger with me looking like I had wet my pants!!!!! In 2006 we were wise to this and wore black poly cotton shorts and shirts, end result we didn't look wet even though we were and we dried off in about 15 minutes. Good shoes will alleviate the wet feet syndrome. Yes you do get very wet in the front, but if your log is totally full you will get wet further down the log as well.

Did they change the ride in the last 8 years? I got on it for the first time in 8 years recently and never ever remember getting as wet as I did now. I was soaking wet! It seems as if they added more "SPLASH" to Splash Mountain.

2 more people means more weight which means more splash, we noticed a big change from 2004 when it was only 4 people...

I'll vouch for the crocs too! Bought them at the WOD after my feet were hurting SO bad from walking 2 days at DL. Those things felt like heaven! Mine are black (they have Pirate ones, black and red at the WOD). I don't know, red just seemed funny on me! I'd love some pink ones, and will probably get another pair at some point. I don't plan on wearing any other shoe at DL besides crocs now!
They do dry off real fast too! :)

I've read so many responses about the Crocs - are they really that comfy to walk around in all day long?? I've seen the knock offs in Target and Payless and they look so huge - do the run in sizes like normal shoes, I guess what I'm asking is would I buy a size 8 in Crocs if I normally wear a size 8 shoe??

I really wasn't sure how comfy they were going to be either. I have wide feet, so my shoes were smashing my pinky toes after 2 days in to our trip. I had blisters and was walking all funny! So I gave in and bought some, and the next day my feet felt GREAT (minus the blisters were still a bit sore). I was really surprised. I went from really bad off to having better feet then my two guys. :)
I wear a size 8 shoe and bought a size large. Medium just wasn't wide enough for me. The large is a little big on me, but very comfortable. I've heard mixed reviews on the knock off brands. Some say to always just get the Croc brands, others say they are comfortable too. So I don't know, I felt it better safe to stick with the Croc brand.

Some of the styles run in "real" sizes; I just bought the sandals and a pair of Mary Janes, and I bought them in my usual size, a 10.
The beach (the style they're so well known for) comes in SM, MD and LG. The large (translate: 10-11) just fits me; I don't think they would be big enough for someone with a size 11 foot.

Oh, I almost forgot: they are the MOST comfortable shoe I've ever worn!! And believe me, I am very picky about the way my shoes fit (lots of pairs in the closet only worn once because they hurt my feet:headache: ).
I wish I wouldn't have been so put-off by the way they look. I'm kicking myself for waiting so long to try them.::MinnieMo

I just purchased my first pair of Crocs yesterday... so far I LOVE them. I purchased them based on the comments I read here and I wanted to "test drive" them before our first trip to DL in Aug. I love them so much I am going to go buy my kids crocs for a test drive as well... they will be perfect for the pool... wet rides and for keeping little feet comfy!!!

 This sounds like an exact replay of why I bought my first pair about 2 months ago. Now I am a complete convert, I have 3 pairs (and counting), and no one can take my crocs away!

If they would only make them a tad more fashionable.
DH has tired feet (along with the rest of us). He said he would forget fashion for the sake of comfort and then I mentioned the Crocs. I think he's still thinking about the answer.

We put on our bright yellow Mickey ponchos, put the cameras in the backpack on my lap under the poncho and then off we go.
My head, face and feet can get wet but the rest stays dry.

Do people ever just wear flip flops or sandals to DL? That avoids the whole "wet shoe and sock" ordeal that SM would cause... or are Crocs the new flip flop? :goodvibes

Yes, my g/f wore flip flops/sandals to the parks, and actually said it was comfortable and didn't have a problem with her feet hurting her. I would say if you don't like the Crocs just wear a nice comfortable pair of flip flops so you don't have to worry about wet shoes and/or socks.

OH we got SOAKED and I mean SOAKED. I think there is some mini-water explosion that goes off at random intervals, and it doesn't happen to all the boats, but it went off and flooded the entire boat. My mother was angry the rest of the day.

I wore crocs and it was blissful and you dry out really quickly I also found that wearing ankel socks with runners were a miracle worker. My feet rarely got soaked anyway, just the rest of my body.

I've had Crocs for about a year and worn them on my last several trips to DL. In the winter I wore them with socks, just for warmth. In summer, no socks.
They're the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn to DL. My 9 year old nephew wore some for the first time on our trip a couple of weeks ago and he loved them. No worries when it comes to getting wet feet on a water ride!
I do have a pair of knock-offs that were a gift and they are nowhere near as comfortable, but I don't know if that would be true of all.
I wear a size 10 shoe and wear the size LG crocs. When I bought my first pair I was told they should feel loose, compared to regular shoes. They do conform to your feet after a few wearings.
As to getting wet, I brought ponchos for our trip a couple of weeks ago, but it was quite warm so I didn't mind getting wet on the rides and didn't wear one. I did bring ziplocks for our phones and cameras in the backpack. We got much wetter on Grizzly River Rapids than on Splash Mt.
One word of warning: think twice about going on these rides right before sundown. It gets cool pretty quickly and you could be very uncomfortable. My cousin was so cold she had to go back to the hotel to change.
