Just want to make sure I understand the new security rules at airports

I know you can't have things "that could be used as a weapon" in your carry-on, but I can pack stuff like scissors, nail clippers, etc. in my checked luggage. Is that correct? I sure don't want to be the one with my luggage opened and investigated when it is something I could have prevented. :rolleyes: :)
