Could someone fill me in on cabana rental at HRH. What exactly do you get for a rental? My sister and I are going to spend a whole day at the pool (weather permitting) and I've seen several people mention these. Also how far in advance should you reserve them? Thanks so much....first trip March 23rd!!

We rented a cabana this past monday. It cost $35.00 for a 1/2 day, 8 am to 3 pm. It comes with a cooler with soda in it and a fruit basket. There is a fan inside and a tv.

We felt quite cool hanging out there.

They're set back a bit from the pool. I don't remember specifying sodas, but I was happy with what they provided.

We had cabana #10, it had a table and 4 chairs , there were 2 lounge chairs set up outside the cabana, it came with oversized beach towels, I think the fridge came with 2 cokes, 2 diet cokes, 2 sprites and 4 waters.

There was also a reserved sign with our name on it.

Thans for the info, I just got off the phone and reserved Cabana #10 for next Wednesday, I think $35 is very reasonable and with a 3 yr old, this is a great thing to have, how wonderful to have this forum, I wouldn't have know about this if it wasn't for you, thank you so much!

I found out all this info on these board, thank you to all that takes the time out to post. It really helps when planning your vacation. My DD is 8, when she got tired she went into the cabana and took a nap. I liked #10 because it was near the Beach Club, (restrooms).

I forgot to ask this when I reserved it, does this cabana have a door or is open in the front. Wondering if this is where I can get changed into Bathing Suit? Cool to know that it's by the Bathrooms, Thanks again!!

Great Pix Robin!

The cabana's do have canvas sides that you can open and close. We used them to change in.

Even though there are a lot of people at the pool, we never had a problem getting lounge chairs not matter when we went. It covers a very large area.

Do they have a pool bar? How far in advance do you think reservations should be made? do they really have tv's in there?

pathubia
01-24-2002, 08:00 AM
Yes, there are tv's in the cabanas. There is a pool bar, the Beach Club, they also have a food menu, burgers, pizza, salads, etc. We didnt have advance ressies, we called that am and it was available. Well worth the $35.00

If 8am to 3pm is a half day rental. Is there rentals available starting at 3pm? If the weather is nice, I think it would great to order snack and spend the evening by the pool. And the kids could enjoy plenty of pool time.

We'll be there up to the Thursday after Easter. Our flight is in the pm, and we won't be leaving the HRH until 4:00. Wonder if they'll let us rent one since we'll be checking out that day, but hanging at the pool until we leave. For $35.00 it sounds like a relaxing last day for our vacation. Thanks for the info.

We will be staying at RP in Sept. Since I heard we can pool hop, Can we also reserve a Cabana? Just wondering?

Glory Days

Called the health club at HRH to reserve the cabana, and they just changed the 1/2 day policy. You can only rent half day from 3-10. (And of course we wanted 8-3). If you want the early hours you have to pay $60.00 and you have it the entire day.

Are you serious????? That just blew it for me!!!!

Glory Days
02-13-2002, 08:27 AM
Well, that's what they told me when I tried to get one for 8-3 in April. But if you want one for the late afternoon until evening you can still get the half day one.

If anyone hears differently, by all means, let me know. Tks.

I called after I read your note and she said she did have 8-3 rentals for $35. I went ahead and reserved mine for March 24th. She had a heavy accent and it was kind of hard to understand her but she said she already had people renting them for that week.

When we were there in December they showed a movie by the pool. We stayed on a Friday night. I'm not sure if they do it every night though. It was really great to relax in a lounge chair and eat and drink while the kids swam! It is a great zero entry pool and the kids were entertained for hours!

Lynn Kelley-
Do you know who you called. I first called reservations and they couldn't help me, so I called the front desk and they transferred me to the Health Club where I spoke to a real nice girl who gave me the new informtion. I want one for April 4th, so will call whomever you called and try again.
Tks.

I called 407-503-rock. I asked for cabana rentals and when the girl answered the phone, she said "recreation" She had either an Austrailian or heavy English accent

I called back and got the same girl the two of you did. No problem to rent, and as a matter of fact I couldn't even get cabana #10, had to go with 9 because they are booking up that week. She did tell me to check in with the fitness center when we got to the hotel. Did anyone get a confirmation # or anything?

I just know when I get there I'm going to confirm during the day, not with the evening staff who told me we couldn't rent in the am for half day.

Thanks again, and here's hoping it works out for all of us!:)

No confimation number at all. She just took my last name and my home phone number (wouldn't know why they would need that!? Said we could cancel up to 4hours before rental without charge.

It's a small world! Glory Days, you can't book cabana #10 because I have it booked from the 1st through 5th. Going to universal with my 14yo daughter and her friend and they are really looking forward to lounging by the pool. I guess I'll see you there.

This forum is certainly making the cabanas popular!

Two questions:

Kazzie - Are you also staying at the HRH? Wondering why you got a confirmation # when a few of us didn't.

and Cmould - funny that you got cabana #10. Not only are we from neighboring towns in Jersey, we'll be in neighboring cabanas at the HRH. See you there.

Ok, I just read all these nice posts about cabanas. Can someone please tell me why everyone is getting the cabanas. Is there still shade by the pool if you do not get a cabana, and can you get a lounge or a chair to sit out by the pool if you do not have a cabana? Just wondering, were coming down the end of april, and I never even knew that they had cabanas.

Deb.

cottontail,
There are plenty of lounge chairs around the pool. We never had a problem getting one and we were there during the VERY crowded July 4th week. There are areas of shade around the pool too.

Hi Glory Days,

I am staying at HRH for only one night when I will be going to HHN. I planned to spend the day around the pool.

They did ask my room ressie number so maybe that's why I got a cabana rental ressie number?

Last year we were at the HRH during the busy Easter season and did fine without a cabana. We were at the Beach Club our last day when we checked out and hung around the pool, but were hot and had no place to really go for relief. This year we're finishing up at the HRH and have a 6:30 flight, so perfect it is to have a cabana for half day @$35.00 to hang out with a fidge and t.v., and even a place to change. Seems like a great way to end the week.:)

When I requested cabana #10, the girl taking the ressie told me it wasn't near the Beach Club or rest rooms, that they were 1-5, and 10 was on the beach side. This is the opposite of what was posted on this site, but I went with #9 anyway. Sure they'll all be okay.

lynn kelley
02-18-2002, 02:53 PM
well darn, that was the only reason I was requested #10, I ended up with #9 also.

pathubia
02-18-2002, 03:03 PM
Cabana #10 is the end one, you just have to walk under the water slide to get to the beach club and rest rooms, plus there is a hot tub right behind it!!!!!

I think you will like it.

So I'm wondering what happens at 3pm....do that many people really reserve them from 3 to 10 that they chase everybody out to clean them up or do they let you linger to sayyyyyyy 4pm??

This was just asigned to me,then I read here its in a good spot so I would have called back to request this one anyway!

cottontail, There is most definitely plenty of shade by gorgeous palm trees and umbrellas. I'm not quite sure why they are so popular. We had a complimentary cabana last year which we didn't even use. If you are on the club level, which we were, they provide sodas and waters all day anyway, although you do have to walk up to the 7th floor to get them. Or there is a great poolside restaurant and waiters who will bring you drinks.

We wanted to be closer to the water so we just got lounge chairs with umbrellas and there are plenty of tables scattered about. We had no interest in watching the t.v. by the pool. That was last March. In fact, I only saw one cabana in use the whole time we were there. JMO but you might want to wait until you get there before you reserve one. You may not want it.

It does seem like a great idea for a late flight though, so you have someplace to change if you don't want to use the gym, which is right near the pool area as well.

lynn kelley
02-20-2002, 02:01 PM
My big intention for the cabanas is with 4 of us there it will be a central "drop zone" with the kids coming and going and just a place to leave all of our stuff if we want to wander away. Plus we're using ours the first day and I know I'll need to get in the shade after a couple hours of sun, but I'd still like to sit outside and read a book and then slip into the pool etc. I don't really understand the tv concept either, but maybe it's good for little kids or husbands that think they might die if they are missing a sporting event!!!!

What a perfect idea for the last day if you have a late flight!!

Our flight is at 5:00 so after reading these great posts, I think that's what we'll do!!

So even after officially checking out of HRH, we can stay in the Cabana right?? We wouldn't have to leave til around 3 for the airport so I hope we can rent one.

We're going to be there the 2nd week in June and we would be wanting it for that Saturday........would we be safe renting it on the Monday before?? Or should I call and reserve way before?

Gosh I'm even more excited now!!! :bounce:

Kitty - I would go ahead and hold it now - there is no deposit required and the cancellation policy is 4 hours prior to rental (that's 11 AM for my 3 PM - 10 PM rental). We have friends meeting us the last day, so we're looking forward to having a spot where we can visit, eat, stay out of the hot sun that afternoon.

dreamer, Club level guests pay half-day price for full-day rental, but there is no discount on the half-day price :(

Do the tvs just show the music videos which are shown throughout the hotel? Also do you guys know the music is piped underwater in the pool? Cool, eh?

kazzie - looks like #10 is off for me then! ;) Shall I get 9 so we can be neighbours?

Lynn, While your there could you kindof scope out which other cabanas would be good and not "loud". Believe it or not my 70 yo parents want to go to the HR but I am a little nervous that it to loud for their nerves.

lynn kelley

One thing you might like to know is that, other than in your room, you can't get away from the rock music at HRH (as I said in my earlier post, it's even piped underwater!). The good news is that it's all pretty seamless (the same track is played everywhere) and we didn't find it intrusive, but then we're not 70 ;)

Forgot to update this after I got back....you can see a trip report about my cabana day, but we had #9 and the music was not loud at all....we were at the pool 4 days and it was never too loud.

Lynn Kelley, are they still renting them for half days or just full days? When I watched the Travel Channel the other night about HRH, they were saying they had Cabanas for $60 for the day....they didn't say anything about half days.

lynn kelley
04-12-2002, 07:44 PM
I got a half day after somebody on this board was told they didn't do that anymore....I think you could probably convince them to do 9-3, I just don't understand how they can only have half days from 3 to 9 if they don't do the morning from 9-3????

SherryfromOK
04-13-2002, 06:30 PM
The pop in the fridge, do they charge for all that is in there? Or do they count to see how many you really use, and charge so much per can?

lynn kelley
04-14-2002, 09:08 AM
The sodas are part of the cabana charge...we took the left overs back up to the room.
