Hi everyone! My DH wants to know if Disney Dollars can be put on a credit/gift card to use while on our vacation. He really does not want to have to resort swipe our card to keep on file, and I do not like the thought of carrying around cash. Does any one know if this can be done and if so were would we need to go once we arrive at the world?

Thanks

Hmmm...don't know if Gift Cards can be purchased with Disney Dollars, but I did recently find out that Disney Gift Cards can be used in most locations through out the parks, resorts and Downtown Disney. We had the same concern, so we're planning to carry a couple of different Gift Cards, and use them as a savings tool in between now and our trip by adding $$ onto them periodically. Here's a helpful link: www.disney.go.com/disneygiftcard/index.html

You should be given a separate card to upload your Disney Dollars to that is separate from your credit card. They upload your credit to the rewards card and you use it just like a credit card (except it is not your actual credit card). Once the balance is down, it is finished until you acquire more points. Keep the card however and as you acquire more ponits they will continue to download them (when you are ready to use them) they do have an expiration once placed on the card.

If left as Disney Dollars, do they expire?

No, they are used as 'cash' at the theme parks. I have a one dollar DD from 20 years ago, and I could use it today, same as cash at the parks.

Hope that helps! :)

You have a couple of options.

If you want to enable the charging feature on your Disney resort room key, you can have a credit card swiped, OR you can leave cash, travellers checks, or Disney Dollars as a deposit instead. I have put down Disney Dollars to enable room charging many times and it works great.

You can also save for your trips by purchasing Disney Gift Cards from your local Disney Store or from DisneyShopping online. These cards are good at any Disney-owned venue in WDW (as long as it has a credit card reader, so a few small carts and roving vendors can't accept them). The cards are reloadable and have no fees associated with buying or reloading them. Unfortunately, however, you can only reload them in person at a Disney Store or in a shop at WDW - you can't reload them online or by phone. The greatest advantage of these cards is that they are replacable if lost or stolen, just like a credit card - all you need is the original purchase reciept.

You can either carry a Disney Gift Card with you or use it to put a deposit down for room charging.

NOTE: Many resort front desk CMs don't know that you can put down cash, travellers checks, or Disney Dollars as a deposit for room charging; they believe that it can only be done with a credit card (I guess it's not covered in their training.) But if a CM tells you that you can't do it, tell them that it can be done and ask them politely for their manager, who will show them how to do it.

That is great to know. I, also, do not give my credit card for the room key. We have a seperate account that we place our spending money and use the debit/credit card as we need. We have DD$$ saved for the DD's to use for their "gotta have" things done there.

When I posted originally, I was referring to Disney REWARD Dollars that you accumulate by using your Chase Visa Card not TRUE Disney Dollars:lmao: I see that everyone is talking about the True Disney Dollars like you purchase through the Disney store, etc. I have never used any of this type before, but as I understand it, it is as the OP said and Dollar for Dollar. The Visa rewards dollars are the one I was posting in reference to. Sorry for my confusion.:thumbsup2
