Okay fellow dis'ers, I need your help! We are going to WDW this November for Thanksgiving. We are doing a split stay. We come in Friday morning check in to VWL (studio) then check in to OKW (1bdrm) on Sunday till Friday check-out. I want to do the DDP but, hubby does not. So, he has offered me a compromise. We can do the DDP for our weekend stay at VWL studio then "cook" for the remainder of our stay. What do you think? Am I spending the same amount by paying for the DDP for two nights then buying groceries for the remainder of our stay versus getting the DDP for the whole time we are there?:confused3 :confused3

Cost wise, you have to do the math yourself. The cost for the DDP is ~$38.00 per person per night (~76.00 for you both) multiplied by the number of days. You said Sunday-Friday. that's 5 full days, I didn't count Friday because you may not cook on check out day. 76x5= 380.00 Would you spend that much on groceries?

cook? :lmao: Now that is funny.
Sorry, I don't cook on my vacation. Unless I want to make breakfast in the room or reheat leftovers:thumbsup2 .
Up to you how your husband wants to spend his vacation. If HE wants to cook and do dishes all week, I say let him. :dance3: He can plan the grocery list, go to the grocery store, cook all the meals and do all the dishes.
Cooking in the villa is cheaper than the DDP, but cooking does not get you a romantic dinner at CG, or a fun dinner show at Hoop Dee Doo. No snacks cooking either.
We use the DDE card rather than use DDP. We get the 20% discount and prefer that. Is that an option for you?
Good luck and let us know how this turns out

Well, you'll save money cooking in the room but for me that would sacrifice a lot of the fun of the vacation.
Is your husband planning on doing any of this cooking and washing? Here's my advice: Tell your husband the DDP works out to just about what you would spend on the groceries to cook, especially since you will need so many extras -- spices, preparations, etc. that you won't have because you are not at home. Make the ADR's and let someone cook and clean for you on vacation.

We do a lot of traveling, staying in T/S condos all over the country. We have stayed in DVC units many times. We generally eat out one nice meal a day and do the rest in the room. You can hardly call it cooking when you scramble a couple of eggs up for breakfast or make a sandwich for lunch/dinner! I don't do big, fancy, multi-course stuff in the condo. That is crazy! We get tired of eating out every meal, but then we have 4 kids in tow and sometimes it is just easier to eat in p.j.s in front of the t.v. relaxing!
We don't do it just to save money, we enjoy it. My dh and I enjoy cooking a simple meal together. Guess we are weirdos.

We usually have breakfast in our Villa which is toasting a bagel or opening a foam container that has a muffin or????
My MIL and... is coming this year she will not have any of that she wants a sit down breakfast she does not eat at CS period.
Cook :lmao:
If my wife did that on vacation I would be a bad husband and accused of torturing her
