How long does it take to get your room number assigned after booking, or how long before the cruise do they assign them? Then after they are assigned can you change it, if location does not suit you?

In most cases your room is assigned when you make your reservation. Sometimes you are assigned to a "guarantee" status, which means you are guaranteed at least that category room but no room number is assigned at that point.

If you want a particular cabin it is best to get it assigned at booking. Changing cabins is subject to availability, and while you CAN request a change after one is assigned, there is no guarantee that what you want will be available.
