My best friend, Jasmine, is really into acting and drama and singing and stuff. Well... same as me, she has never seen High School Musical, and that just happens to be what their school play is going to be. She didn't know that until after making the drama team and they gave her the lead role. Now she is all nervous because she isn't really the High School Musical "type". She's kinda goth/punk and is scared she is gonna look like an idiot trying to act all "preppy" and stuff. I told her not to worry about it and rent the movie but she said it is going to be different. I think she will do great... but I don't act or dance so I have no clue what she is feeling. Any words of advice for my bestie?

Tell her that she'll do fine and that all the best actresses must take roles they aren't made for at some point during their careers, she should be happy she's getting hers out of the way early! :thumbsup2

BTW- Your icon is amazing.

I would ask her to watch at the movie some, just so she can get the feel. I mean she shouldn't have to completely sit in front of the TV and watch it for 2 hours, just here and there. I had to act completely different then what I was in our Drama play, but it all turned out fine. Once she gets out there I'm sure she will do fine. Sorry I don't have much advice, but I wish good luck to your friend. :)

Well if she really wants to be an actress, she's going to have to do some things that are not like her normal self.
She will have to step out of her comfort zone and do something she wouldn't normally do.

Look at actresses who play serial killers or whatever, they aren't normally like that, but they have to pretend they are.

You friend should just have to let go of her "goth/punk" persona for a while and pretend that she's "preppy" when she's playing her character.
It shouldn't be a problem for her at all though, since she's an actress and she should be used to doing things she wouldn't normally do.
I'm sure she'll do great...they gave her the lead for a reason after all!

Tell her to BREAK A LEG :goodvibes
