I'm gonna go ahead and say this now. Just because you fell and hurt yourself doesn't mean that "Heelys" are dangerous, it could happen on a bike, a skateboard, or anything. I know there are all sorts of people giving out warnings on the media, but not only do they have an ability for making things seem ten times worse than they are, it is mainly kids being reckless. I'm not saying you were, I just didn't like the way the topic was worded.

Anyways, I'm sad to hear that you broke something. Heal up soon. :)

Heelys scare me. I'll be walking down the road, when all of a sudden people will skate, then walk, then skate....

I bet one day there will be a a problem with people's feet because for Heely's you have to sort of arch your foot...and that will like dis-form peoples feet....... :hyper:

I hope you get a speedy recovery, sending pixie dust XD pixiedust:

Doctors Alarmed About Wheeled Sneaker Injuries

Doctors say the worldwide craze for wheeled sneakers is leading to a rash of injuries among children, including cracked skulls, dislocated elbows, and broken arms, wrists and ankles, the Associated Press reported.

The sneakers have wheels in their heels that enable wearers to roll through malls, playgrounds and on sidewalks.

But doctors warn that that too many children are being hurt while using the sneakers. For example, an Irish study in the journal Pediatrics said during a 10-week period last summer, 67 children were injured while using shoes with built-in or strap-on wheels, the AP reported.

A spokesman for the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said from September 2005 to December 2006, the agency received reports of one death and at least 64 injuries related to wheeled sneakers.

This week, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons plans to release safety guidelines that recommend the use of helmets, knee, and elbow pads, and wrist protectors for children who wear wheeled shoes, the AP reported.

The most popular brand of wheeled shoes are made by Texas-based Heelys, Inc. In April, the company said it commissioned a study that found that wheeled shoes are safer than inline skating, skateboarding, and even swimming.

The company said that its shoes are sold with safety information, including a recommendation to wear protective equipment, the AP reported.

Best Wishes with your broken bone.....

Because people aren't clumsy enough so let's put wheels on their shoes... ? Remind me why these shoes are a good idea again? Anyway, I absolutely can't stand those shoes cause i always get run over by little kids wearing them...

But anyway! I sure hope your leg gets better cause having a broken leg sucks really bad... i had one last winter and it was the worst... but I hope you don't miss out on too much of your summer though! :thumbsup2

Heelys are pretty scary. There was this little kid at our chamber music concert the other day with them and he just started rolling. Inside. I just felt like yelling "What are you DOING?" but then I figured out he was wearing heelys. Nobody wears a helmet with them, either. And the commercials are with trained professionals, but kids don't know that, so they try to do stunts and break furniture. And bones.

Get well soon! I know how much it hurts when you break your arm, it happened to me not too long ago.

:offtopic:
I fell from a height of 5 or 6 ft. I broke both my ulna and radius, and it was right near my growth plate, but not close enough to it to have a short arm cast, so i had a very complicated time from going through all that I did.

The night i broke my arm i didn't know it, but it hurt so much that i went to the hostpital to check it out. i was there until 1 am, and i spent most of the time in the waiting room. They gave me a splint that would come off in only 2 days.

I got my cast on after the splint. it almost went all the way up my arm! after a few days with my new cast, i got pushed, which moved one of my bones out of place(even more then it was, according to the doctor). bc i was pushed, i went back to the doctor to see if everything was ok. Thanks to that appointment, the doctors noticed my bone and scheduled a surgery in the OR.

That morning, they put me to sleep and pushed my bone into place by making a small incision in my arm and slipping a pin into my arm. they put another splint on my arm which i was in for about a week. then i got a shorter cast on.

After that, they took my pin out, and it was painful!:headache: After that cast, my adventure was over. I was sooo glad! After about 2 months of not seeing my arm, it was pretty stiff. it took me a while to get full movement back, which i'm still trying to achieve. I'm glad you only need a month, and won't have to go through what i did.

Just try not to stick anything up your cast, bc you might scratch your arm, which isn't very good :upsidedow

---BACK ON TOPIC!!!---

Well, sorry to ramble off like that, it's kinda just a habbit:rolleyes: . Here's some flowers to bring to your bedside! :flower3: :flower3:
