We will be doing the DCL for the first time and I was wondering if there is a way to rent a car at the pier and then return it later that evening at the airport. Our flight isn't until early evening and I hate to waste the day in the airport . If anyone has any suggestions I'd really love to hear from you. I've been to wdw over twenty times so I do know my way around, and may even want to visit Celebration while we're there. Thanks for all your great tips on the board ! Lucyluvsdisney

We found it really easy to rent from Avis - take their shuttle over to pick up the car, and then it was really easy to return the car at MCO (spent the day at Sea World)

I agree. We rented from Avis at MCO and returned it at Port Canaveral. Then we reversed this process at the end of the cruise. The whole process went very smoothly and quickly. It is THE most convenient and inexpensive way to get back and forth between Orlando and the Port. Plus you have the freedom that comes with having your own car.

Dave has a good discussion of the options on his site:

We rented from Avis for both directions of our trip and found it to be very easy.

We are renting a van from Avis on 3/2 after we disembark from our 2/23 cruise and plan on spending the day at DTD. We will drop van off at MCO at 5:00 pm for our evening flight.

Got a great rate off the internet of $56.65 (including all taxes) for the day, much cheaper than any other form of transportation I looked into. I found a code on Mousesavers. There will be five of us and that was was cheapest way to go.
