How about this scenario. Dh (or myself) stays in line with ds6 while the other one runs around the parks getting fast passes. I figure we can get four. Two in CA and two in TL (since RR and GR aren't connected and the two parks aren't connected).

We can offer to get fast passes for the people directly behind us (one family). Sound crazy? Lazy? This is a very far visit for us and we probably won't get back for years and years and don't have tons of time to burn.

Please don't flame me. It was just a crazy idea after seeing the 6 hour lines.

Maybe it won't be so bad in July. LOL:lmao: :rotfl2:

I think it is not a bad idea. . .

BUT why don't you get to the park and get in line to get in 30 or more minutes early and run to Nemo right as the park opens. . . if you do that I don't think you'll have that long a wait. Maybe I am just being naieve?

Now see, I wouldn't mind this one bit. I think it's a really great idea. However, I know for sure that you will find people who classify this as "cutting" and will view it as completely unethical.

I think that's a good idea, if your DH or you are willing to do all of that running! Don't know if strangers would trust you guys to get FP's for them though. I don't think that I'd give my park-hopper or ap to a stranger to get FP's for me.

I don't know that the runner would be able to collect FPs for DCA for anyone other than for himself. The FP machines may require that the passes have been scanned for entrance into DCA first.

your idea is just fine. CM's were suggesting this very thing on opening day of Nemo.

I think it is a good idea too. I think since the group is holding a spot for one person (the runner) it is fine. I think when one person is holding the spot for the group, maybe not so much.

I like the way you think mattmommy! (as long as CMs are still encouraging/allowing the "line holding") This is genius.

& you can take it further...pass the time by doing some FP trading. "I'll trade you a Griz Rapids & a R. Rabbit for One Indy.

(& you can take it further still....The non-dissers will think their 1pm-2pm SM ticket is about to expire so you can trade them an evening Buzz ticket straight up for soon to be "expired" SM & Indy tickets. :rotfl2: )

The possibilities are endless! :dance3:

I hate lines. Of course we get used to them going to WDW so much. One time we waited in line for six hours at DL during a Disneyana convention to get merchandise. What the heck was I thinking? Ok, I was way younger, but still....

We make lots of friends on the line. Friends that we still have over a decade later. We all took turns using the restroom and getting food for each other.

Okay, I'll be the lone dissenter.

CM sanctioned or not, this wouldn't sit well with me if I were in line. Not casting judgements, or saying that it's wrong. Just saying that I would be upset if I knew I were waiting in line while others were running around the park.

I'm also a WDW vet - which I think may have a big effect on my opinion of this kind of thing. :)

You're right, this wouldn't work. Unless the ticket/ap is scanned at the entrance, you can't get a fp for that person. Other than that, you should still be able to get 2 fp for each person in DL.

But if the people are in line then the passes have been scanned. You only need to be scanned in at one park to collect FPs for both - I do it all the time.

This is correct.

Once each member of the family has had its ticket "scanned" at one park (in this case DL)....then ONE runner can take ALL of the family's tickets to EITHER park and collect FPs for the ENTIRE family.

(if anyone is unclear about this, i recommend they read Hydroguy's FP thread, he explains it perfectly and in great detail.)

I think it's a great idea and exactly what we will be doing in July. I would have no problem if a family in front of me did this. Thinking back to before I had children, this may have bugged me, but now with kids, it is just too hard for them to wait the whole time. It's just easier to be forgiving of plans like this when you have little ones.

Here is the strategy that my son and I use. Granted it is just the two of us but we have been doing this for more than 10 years when there are new ride openings. We arrive at the gate early and get in line. Then upon gate opening one of us will beeline to the "new" ride and the other to the nearest fastpass machine. This gets us two rides fairly quickly. If you get to the park early, you will be amazed at how quickly you can get the new ride in.

On the other hand, I will say that I remember that the old submarine voyage was one of the slowest moving lines that I remember. I haven't done Nemo yet and probably won't till fall. Too many other trips for this summer.
