Just wondering if anyone has ever taken their pet to Portofino? I know they say it is a "pet friendly" hotel but I was just wondering if you found any guests to be intolerable of you precious family member.

We didn't take our pets on our visit to PBH last summer, but there were a lot of them at the hotel. It seemed to me that everyone loved having the pets around. They sure drew attention when they were out being walked. People would sit outside at the Harbour Piazza with their dogs and everyone came up to pet them and ask about them. They really seemed to fit right in. As long as you're respectful of others and follow the pet rules, I doubt there would be a problem.

We've stayed at all 3 with our pet, and the PBH is the best.
Why? They allow dogs on the top deck of the pool. Plus the rooms are larger.

Most people want to pet the dog after asking if it's ok, especially if they have little kids. At the pool the life guards will come over and do the same. I heard one story about the life guards giving a dog a bath after it jumped in the lake and got dirty.

How about cats? We have a very anxious cat that we worry about when we go away:love:

Did you notice whether there were mostly small dogs or some that are quite large as well? We have a dogo argentino, who is approximately 1.5 y.o. and is comparable to an adult lab ( in size). The shelter (small private rescue) is happy to keep him at owners' house for the week, but I'd like him to experience road trips. On the other hand, I do not want to inconvenience other patrons with smaller dogs because ours is like a bull in a china shop.
You also mentioned that at Portofino, dogs are allowed at the upper deck of the pool. Could you please clarify what you are referring to (this is our first time at Portofino)?. Are there any "watery" places for the dogs to play in? Thanks!
