Has anyone stayed, or hear anything about, the Lighthouse Key Resort & Spa? I believe it opened earlier this year.
Thanks!

Hi Jennifer,
I had never heard of this resort but just had a look at the website and it looks lovely. Still had artist impression pictures of the pool area so difficult to know if it is completely finished yet :confused3

I was actually looking at this place today online. Looks amazing! When I called I got a much higher price quote than by going online. I also see they charge a $7 resort fee. I had emailed them some questions but haven't heard back yet. I haven't been able to find any reviews on it though. But it does look beautiful!

Looks wonderful! So much so that I got a great deal today and cancelled my 1 bedroom suite at Caribe Royale to book a 2 bedroom villa. The resort fee referred to above covers the state of the art fitness area, free movie theatre (stadium style seating), pools, etc...
Can't wait to go in July! :cool1:

We are currently trying to decide between here and doing a timeshare deal. What rate did you get if you don't mind me asking? The cheapest I was able to find was $103????? Did you get cheaper than that?

I had $103 online yesterday but didn't book it until today. The rate went up to $109! UGH! Oh well. It's not that much of a difference I guess. I spoke with a reservation agent (who was delightful) and was able to get a bunch of info. They charge a $7 per night resort fee that includes the movie theater, free shuttles to WDW, and a few other things. I asked a few times about construction and she said that there is no construction in the two buildings that have opened which includes the zero entry pool.
Right now I have reservations here and at the Lake Buena Vista Resort Village also at $109. I haven't canceled it yet but I have until September to decide. It just seemed like the Lighthouse Resort had more to offer for the same rate (almost).

I'm glad to see this place listed. I've checked out a few websites on it and have checked Trip Advisor but I couldn't find any listing for them there.
I'm very tempted to give them a try and $109 a night for a 2 bedroom is a good price.
From the floor plans, the 2 bedroom units are in the middle of the sides of the buildings.
As people stay here, I do hope that they will post more information about the resort.
Thanks,
Shykat

No, I got $109, but I had Caribe Royale booked for the same price and felt I would prefer all of the room that Lighthouse Key had. With the $103 rate, did that include the resort fee of $7.00?
I'll let you know if I find anything lower - I'm still searching!

There's another Mike Ditka resort called the Runaway Beach Club
http://www.runawaybeachhotel.com/
It got some really good reviews on tripadvisor. The only bad ones were regarding the staff.
I am going to make ressies at one of these two for late August. I just need to wait until next Friday (payday!). They both look nice, it's hard to decide.
Has anyone ever stayed at the Runaway Beach Club?

It's right up the street from us; just popped up along 192 recently. It looks okay, but 192 is not our favorite area. Too noisy & neon!
Cheers!

Hi guys new to the site last week Hotwire's Travel Ticker offered a special rate of $99.00 per nt. for the 2bdrm. not including the $7.00 per nt. resort fee plus 12.5% tax. The 2bdrm 's second bdrm. has 2 twin beds in it and because their will be 4 adults on this trip I inquired about a 3bdrm. which was available for $139.00 per nt. I was originally going to stay a the Marriott Grande Vista Resort for 199.00 for 5 days 4nts. but change my mind because I am just not in the mood to be bothered with the timeshare stuff and from what it looks and sounds like so far I'm still going to get the luxury I initally was going for.:cheer2:

My DH was able to pull a four bedroom (2000+sf) for may 2008 thru II. He called and they said that both pools, movie theatre, recreation room and everything else you need are in operation. There are 2 buildings complete.
Note this is a fractional ownership resort (similar to a timeshare) so I bet there will be some sales pitch just like most other Orlando resorts.

Hey there Olivia's Mom:
Please Check Hotwire.com for their Travel Ticker link and then look for hotel deals in Orlando. The resort just posted a few days ago a deal there for $109.00 for the 2bdrm. and for $18.00 more per nt. upgrade to the 3bdrm. The deal is good to book until July the 11th 11:59pm if available. I'm there the week of July 9th :)
Good Luck

I agree with Heather. It's a very busy stretch of road through there, and surrounded by tacky t-shirt places and cheap-o buffet restaurants.

Most of this resort is Full Ownership so you will not get any sales pitch. Only tower One is fractional (they own one month per year) and if sales continue, they will not sell much more as fractional. The resort is a 4 star but they hope to reach a 5 star, so I don't think they will allow any hard selling sales men near their guests.
I didn't see it on Mobil's 4-star list. Who gave it this "4-star" rating? Or is this just another of those "timeshare rate themselves" type things? By their very nature, very, very few timeshares can possibly achieve that type of rating. And there are NO 5-star timeshares on the Mobil list. AAA diamond list either for that matter, and AAA has more lenient standards than Mobil.

I stayed there and having worked in the hotel industry for awhile its really evident they can get a 4 star once they open the restaurant they say is being put into the resort... the service was excellent.. but its missing that restaurant that needs to be there for the rank to go up on mobil and AAA. You could have 5 star service but without a restaurant your still a 3...
Although it has some timeshare type thing going on, never once got pestured by any sales people, and had to acutally go out of my way to find out information about the sales from a front desk clerk... had a intrested relative.
All in all nice place, really pretty and fresh and new. Probaly gonna get crazy expensive once its gone a year being open though...

As of yesterday my husband and I decided to book the Lighthouse Key resort for our vacation in September. However, I'm really nervous because we've never stayed off site before. We chose Lighthouse key resort because we can't beat the price for a 3 bedroom and the artist pictures look wonderful. I was hoping for those of you who have stayed there if you wouldn't mind sending me some pictures and you're opionions on the resort. Thanks a bunch~ Deanna

Can you trade into it thru rci? Was this just built or was it an old property that was remodeled? I don't remembe seeing it last year when we stayed at orange lakes.

You will love this place!!My husband and I stayed there 2nights before getting on a cruise ship.We loved it. I had booked a 2 bedroom and when we got there the 2 bedrooms were all taken so she put us in a 4 bedroom for the price of a 2 bedroom. This place is beautiful .It is well worth the money! The 4 bedroom is over 2000sq ft . Very clean,it is just like home. We took lots of pictures if you would like I can email them. The best part about it no sales pitch!!! I will return to this resort again if we are ever in the orlando area . Did I mention the staff is great, the bar and deli owner (Sharron) is the best. Hopes this helps . . My name is Deanna as well. dandeannap@YAHOO.COM

I did the research on this, and as of right now this resort is only affiliated with Interval International (the second largest timeshare exchanger, after RCI).
The place is almost next door to Orange Lake (west of). When my family and I first saw the buildings from Orange Lake last month, we thought it was part of Orange Lake's new constuction, that is how close they are to each other.
I have read several reviews on tripadvisor.com and everyone gives it great reviews, since the place is brand new.

We stayed at Lighthouse Key in December 2007 and had a wonderful time. From reviews on Tripadvisor it seems like they may be under new mgmt. (Mike Ditka's as well as another company) If you google Lighthouse Key Resort in Kissimmee it brings up two websites.
When we stayed there last December we loved our condo - it was large and comfortable. We had flat screen tv's, granite counter tops, a big whirlpool tub, & a balcony. The grounds were beautiful. The customer service (at that time) was great.

We stayed there, but it wasn't recent. We were there in Aug. 2007. We really enjoyed it. Stayed in a 2 bdrm 2 bath. It was a fine size for our family of 7. There was a king bed and bath in one bedroom. In the other there was a full size bed and a twin bed. My 3 girls stayed in there. There are tvs in both bdrms. The living room had two pull out sofas, so each boy had his own bed and they also had a tv. The kids shared a bath in the hall and it had a washer and dryer. We only stayed there 2 nights prior to going to Disney for the week. I would have stayed there this past summer, but I couldn't get a decent rate.
