Hello Everyone!
I thought that since I have been engaged for over a year its about time I started a planning journal.
Jeff and I met through a mutual friend about 4 years ago and got engaged in Vegas in front of the Bellagio last March. A DFTW was never a question with us seeing as we both have been big Disney people since we were little and we both go there at least 2 times a year. But explaining that to our extended families was pretty funny because to this day my grandmother still thinks I am getting married in an amusement park lol. Its always fun to tell her no its just like getting married in a hotel but better :goodvibes . But everyone else is very excited and asks lots of questions.
I called Disney in December and had them pencil me in for July 2008 that way I can hopefully have a candle lit ceremony at the WP and my reception at the Yacht or Beach Club and that is was what I always wanted. I already booked Randy for my engagement and wedding photos. I think I am going to use Reverend Day if his schedule is clear.
I got my dress:

My bridemaids dresses:

Flowers:

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a290/mtortora/168290203.jpg
I like the second ones because I am going with the whole hidden Mickey theme and these fit in perfectly.
I think for the table settings I want small votives with candles in them, a big vase in the middle of the table with dark red roses in it, and Mickey confetti with white linens.
At the WP all I want is red rose peddles on the runner and candles everywhere. Its so pretty I don’t want too much going on.
The food I’m not so sure about right now all I know is that we want a plated dinner with the slipper dessert, and a chocolate fountain.
Any opinions or suggestions I would love to hear from you girls!

Oh good I see you did call :) So please excuse my post on your other thread. Haha.

Im pretty short too but I thought in July its going to be soooooooooo hot! I went into the store thinking I want the whole big princess dress and left with this simple little number lol. I think I want flats though I am ummmm very graceful lol so I either want flip flops or ballet slippers either way no one will see them anyways. :rolleyes1
When is your wedding?

My wedding is in April. I completely know what you mean about wanting a simpler dress though. I actually went with a pretty simple gown too. Not big and princess at all just b/c I was afraid to lug around that whole thing.
I'm wearing flats too. Probably slippers or something. They are most comfortable, plus you're right, no one will see them anyway.
At least if you have a late evening wedding in July it will be a little cooler. Plus you'll be inside anyway so that's good :)

Thanks you guys! I am having second thoughts about my dress that its not fancy enough but everyone keeps saying that its all in my head. SO I took the dress out of my room and kept it hidden in my moms closet so I don't look at it!

You dress is fabulous! Exacly what I am looking for for an August wedding...if I can lose the weight to look OK in it! Beautiful...don't even begin to think about not keeping it!! And I have to ask who designed your bridesmaid dress...I want my MOH to see it! It is by far the one I have liked the most so far!
Keep the pics and PJ coming...it all sounds wonderful!

The dress is by After Six www.aftersix.com. They have alot of cute dresses I think its style #6250. The next thing I have to do is find out which store in Boston carries it the cheapest.
I found these invites and I have talked to the woman at Impressions.
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a290/mtortora/dprogrambasket.jpg
She said that she would work within any budget that I gave her and seeing as I am not too pickey about the paper or ink it shouldn't be too bad. I am also my MIL is going to have her do the invites to the Welcome Dinner/Rehersal Dinner its going to be Hawaiian themed but I just wanted little Hawaiian touches not like over the top Luau lol. We were thinking Lei's on the tables maybe and Hawaiian prited shirts for the Groomesmen and dresses for the Bridesmaids.
I also think I like the idea of this cake.
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a290/mtortora/1large_image.jpg
But instead of ribbon between each layer I want roses.
PS-Does anyone know how much roses are through Disney? I wanted to have them in a vase at my reception but I have no clue how much they will be.
Also, does anyone know how much small candles and votives are there as well or should I just buy them at home and ship them (shipping will be free my dad is going to ship from his office)?
My last question for now lol does anyone know if there is a huge price difference between having two different options for a plated dinner or a duel plate?

I'm having votive candles on my tables. The price is $2.50 per "shotglass votive candle." For the children's tables, I'm using battery-operated votives. They're $4.50 each.

I think your dress will be fabulous; not too informal at all. Of course, I'm a wee bit biased because I went the simple route as well! :thumbsup2 (Our wedding was outdoors in late April, at noon. I was sooooo glad my dress wasn't too heavy/hot.)

If you were asking me what kind of veil I had (and if you were asking someone else, I apologize, lol!), I didn't use one at all. I'm pretty sure I had a reason at some point, but can't remember what it was. :rotfl: I think I couldn't find one that I liked...maybe. :cutie:

Hello Girls!
Sorry I have been so busy I have barely been online at all! I just schedualed my planning session for December 10th I am super excited! I also have booked reverend Jack Day and picked out our vows. I am going to WDW in three weeks (Sept 1-8th)with my bridesmaids and FMIL to meet with Shelly from Impressions and Randy to discuss my likes and dislikes. I am trying to make an appointment for my trial hair at some point that week but have received no response from Beauty Speciale.
Other than that nothing really new to report except that I we are going to book our honeymoon this weekend. We will secretly be staying in disney for a few days after the wedding but then we are off to somewhere beachy that is about all we can agree on hahaha!

Hi everyone!
I dont really have anything new to add. I went to WDW Sept 1-8 with FMIL and we met with Randy. He is awsome I gave him some ideas I had about pictures and my likes and dislikes and we schedualed our engagement pictures for Dec 10th at the GF (so excited) DF and I even got matching outfts lol!
I also met with Shelly from Impressions! She was also really nice and willing to work within my budget and she thinks the same way I do. I was having an issue with the different shades of red. The invites are darker than the BM dresses and I didnt know if anyone else would notice and she was like I think the same way you do but no one else will notice!
I also met with Ana from Beauty Special she was great as well she worked with me until I was happy with my hair. I didnt really care what it looked like as long as it is up it is going to be so hot in July!
I spoke with Celeste and she is going to set up my rehearsal dinner at Ohana I am super psyched that it ended up working out for me (we had a few issues).
My planning session is Dec 10th at 9am I cant wait! I am more excited about the tasting than anything else! We really want the plated cinderella package but chage the chicken to parmasen crusted. I think this can be arranged!
Sorry there are no pics!

Hey Melissa!
How did your planning session go with Celeste today? It was so funny, I sent Celeste an email on Saturday about a question I had and I got an auto email reply from her that said she was going to be out of the office on Monday for a planning session . I immediately thought about you! You were her Monday PS!
Anyway, hope everything went well. I'm so excited to hear all about it!

Hi girls!
Liz- Thats so awsome! I will have to keep an eye out for you! We will be down there that whole next week!
Keira-Everything went so smoothly I was worried too! It always ends up working out in the end!
BaBeeCee- Everything went smoothly. Its good to know that I am not the only one that every time I look at the WP or a reception site I wonder if they are on the DIS and I have talked to them or read there PJ before!
Missy Mouse- Yay! Another Boston bride! Are you doing any boston stuff in your wedding? We are naming our tables and playing dirty water and sweet caroline!
Now on to the upate!
I just got back from my planning session. Celeste is amazing! Everything went really well. She walked me through everything and made sure everything was exactly what I wanted. It was a long day! I met with Celeste and Rose and we hammered out all of the details. Then we had the food tasting! This was the best part! We went to the YC ballroom where the reception was and there was one table in this huge room for me, my mom, dad, and DF! A word to all Disney Brides if you get the opportunitity to do a tasteing take the offer! The food was amazing! The head chef Edguardo sat with us the whole time to make sure we were happy with everything (we made a few changes sauces and such) but we all could not put our forks down! The food was sooooooooo good!
The next day I met with Randy and we did our engagment pictures. We both had two outfits red polos and jeans and black polos and kahkis (sp?). I thought we would look so cheezy with matching outfits but people thought we were so cute! This was something I was sort of dreading seeing as me and DF are both Camera shy! but we met with Randy at 10am in the GF lobby went over a few things for the actual wedding day then headed outside to the beach and took a bunch of shots. Then we headed over to the Poly and took a whole bunch more shots. It went by quick about an hour or so and he had sooooo many shots.
Thats all for now I will update when I can!
Thanks girls!

Hi I'm just catching up on your planning so far and it all looks great! I love your dress
I also have Celeste and I'm so jealous of all the help you are getting! She refused to help me with the rehearsal dinner and said I had to do it all on my own through group dining and I wasn't allowed to have a tasting during my planning session.
I'm glad everything with Randy went well too I've never heard anyone say a bad thing about him!

I'm sorry you're not getting the help you need. I have Celeste as well, but I haven't really talked to her yet. I just got her assigned to me a week ago. I don't understand why you wouldn't be allowed a tasting during the planning session. Isn't that practically the second half the planning session? I'm just confused as to why she would tell you that. :confused3

I was wondering the same thing. It wouldn't be any different then going through a regular caterer. You want to know what the food your ordering is going to taste like.

Hi Girls,
Sorry, I didnt remember my camera while I was down there I know i should have! What was I thinking lol! I will post pictures the minute I get them from Randy! I just realized that after all my talk about the tasting I never told you guys what we are actually eating!
The cocktail hour
open bar
cheese display
scollops wrapped in bacon
shrimp cocktail
The plated meal was a spin off of one of the Cindrella packages.
crab cakes
good caesar salad
filet of beet with marsala mushroom sauce and parmasan crusted chicken with a cream sauce and mashed potatoes and green beans chocolate slipper with milk chocolate mouse instead of dark chocolate.
The cake is marble with chocolate mouse, chocolate with buttercream and the top is gingerbread and creamcheese frosting.
BaBeeCee-It will come very quickly! I had to look at a calander a few weeks ago and went oh my god I am going to disney in two weeks! Make sure you have lots of visuals or know what you want. I loved pictures of someone on the message boards table settings and when I told Celeste the disney brides name and date of the wedding they knew exactly what I was looking at!I have never heard of someone not being able to have a tasting! What is your wedding size? Maybe thats why????:confused3 I have about 60 people and we needed to get a hall at the YC.
Helloirishkitty-Im glad I could help get him excited. I didnt think DF wanted any part of the day but he told me what he liked and didnt like. They will surprise you!
NJBride- I kinda had to put up a fight to get help with it. I called Ohana and spoke to management then told Celeste and she took care of everything then ( I had specific requests, long tables, window seats etc.) How many people are at your wedding. You may want to try and call Ohana directly.

Hi Melissa,
I would like to know too if you don't mind. We wanted to do a double entree meal as well and we weren't sure what to expect to pay per person. Also, do you know if the price comes out less if we cut out the dessert and just serve the wedding cake as the dessert? We are having a dessert party right after the reception so I don't want it to be dessert overkill. TIA!

Keira- The meal from what I understand (I havent got my BEO yet) is 120pp. Thats not bad considering what we are getting. I will let you guys know more once I get my BEO I may be in some sticker shock after that! :sad2:
Goldeelox-Thanks!
Babeecee-I am not sure if the price goes down if you cut out the dessert. It was part of the package I would check with your WP. I would guess they would be able to lower the cost some if you didnt want the extra dessert. Once you see the slipper you wont want to get rid of it! It was so pretty I didnt want to eat it!

Hi Ladies!
I know I havent been on in a while but I got my BEO and the grand total was $18,382 which isnt as bad as I thought. Many of you guys asked me how much the food was well it was a little steep it was about $150 per person but I put it into perspective. That was my number one priority. My floral was a little steep too but I have all red roses it was $3,000 but it is included in the $18,382.
The WP will look like this
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a290/mtortora/wpflowers.jpg
and the center pieces will look like this

Oooh I love the centerpieces and flower petals on the aisle. I wanted to have rose petals going all down the aisle too, but I'm worried about the cost of that. I'm thinking about going with an outside florist with some things, but I want to see how much Disney is going to charge me for it first.

You are getting married on my 10 year anniversary. We were married on 7/6/98. Dh and I are doing a Disney Vow Renewal this year for our 10 year anniversary, but we decided against having it on our actual anniversary since it is so close to the 4th holiday and so incredibly hot during that time of year. We chose to do it on 12/15/08 and spend Christmas at Disney. Congrats, I enjoyed reading your PJ, good luck, and I hope your day turns out perfect!

Love your centerpieces. This is kind of what we are looking for also. Our colors are also red. Would you mind letting me know what you are paying for them?
Love your bridesmaids dresses also. It looks like an Alfred Angelo one that me and my girlfriends are going to look at this weekend in the color claret.

Hi everyone!
Babeecee-The flowers were a bit costly the rose peddles on the isle were $500 and the candles were $100 and the white runner is $75. But the way I am justifying it is that that is what I envisioned in my dream wedding and I knew it was going to be expensive. Also, I am not having the huge candelabras they are a little too haunted mansion for me lol!
Kiera- Randy was amazing! I was a little sad our pictures all had our eyes closed. Its totally not his fault because he cant control the sun and luckally my wedding is at night. Here is the link for my pictures if you want to take a look.
http://www.photoreflect.com/pr3/thumbpage.aspx?e=3437676
Miniefan- Thats awsome I love hearing that dates are important to people. My birthday is the same day as Sunshine1's wedding!
lpizzuro- My centerpieces were about $85 a piece we did three tables of the cylinders and three tables with fishbowls filled with black magic roses and those were $125 each.
Let me know what you think of the pictures!

Thanks for the prices of the cylanders with the flowers and candles - I think $85 per table is a great price. I am going to keep a copy of this for our planning session.
Love the pictures with Randy also. I just a message for him yesterday to see if he is available on our date.
Looking forward to reading more.

orangetiggs-We had a wedding package so the session was $75
Keira- Thanks! Its funny you like the pictures with the tree there was trash all around us that you cant see lol! Thanks we get people saying that we look more like brother and sister all the time.
lpizzuro- Im not sure the prices are 100% accurate I am still trying to figure out how the BEO for floral works out. Im not sure if the rental fees are included.

I love the new BM dress. Is that going to be the color you're using? Who makes that dress if you don't mind me asking. It similar to something I'm looking for.

I really like your new bridesmaid dresses and your centerpieces. I love the rose petals down the aisle! I never thought of putting them down the sides like that. Can I ask how long the aisle runner has to be and where are you getting it from? Thanks!

Hi Everyone,
Honestly, I have no idea how long the isle runner is. I kinda just took Rose (the florists) idea and ran with it. I kind of took my inspration from Briney Spears's ( I know how awful!) wedding. She had lots of roses. I loved the whole celebrity wedding idea. I know that sounds so corney! Everything for my wedding except my invites (from Impressions) and my photography ( Randy) was all done through Disney. I think the isle runner was $100 for plain white. Let me know if you have any questions. I know my PJ is very slow right now. Theres not a whole lot going on.....I have been working on my welcome bags and thats about it..

Melissa, I have enjoyed reading your pj. So far everything sounds and looks great. I am very envious, I really can't wait to do my vowel renewal. Your dress is gorgeous and your bridesmaids dresses are beautiful as well. I love your pictures even the ones where your eyes were closed look good. I really like the roses, that is what I hope to use at my ceremony.

Hi Ladies,
Well my RSVP date is this sunday and I think that the grand total of people went from 45 adults to 35 and the children went from 10 to 9. So I sent Celeste an e mail today asking her to send me an updated BEO reflecting these changes on anything that we had based on a per person rate. I am thinking maybe if the price goes down enough we can get a chocolate fountain.
My welcome bags are all done and sitting my my inlaws summer house in Florida in a closet!
I am a little worried about people making hotel and flight arrangements. For many of our family nothing has been done yet and I am starting to freak out a little bit.
I am also working on menu cards. I know there was a huge debate here on if they were worth it but I thought I would try and see how they came out.
My girlfriends planned my shower for May and they are letting me have some input which is nice. I am such an organizer! I couldnt give up all of my power!
I still have a few things left to do but not much:
Make play list for DJ
Get shoes for me and BM
Order guys tuxes
Get attendent and parents gifts
Make tags for candles that will also be place cards
Get items for kids table
Get groom gift ( I have no idea what to get)

Glad to see an update!! I love the idea of menu cards. I am not talented enough to make them so we are ordering some from impressions, but I think it looks very elegant! I haven't heard about the chocolate fountain... If you don't mind me asking, how much does Disney charge for that? Thanks!!

Lynn 5700- Your wedding is right around the corner you must me so excited.
29apr00-Thanks!
Keira1387-From what I understand the fountain is about $800
****Mini Update******
So after I talked to my WP yesterday we found out that since we do not have as many people attending I am under the $15,000 minimum budget by $2,300 so now I have to get the fountain and I think I might want the chair covers too!
Does anyone have a good idea of how to spend about $1,000 with out having a character (of no iterest to me), adding any more food (there is wayyyy too much as it is) or having an open bar (there are no drinkers in my family so it wouldnt get the proper use)
I thought of beefing up my center pieces, maybe adding stuff to my kids table, but beyond that I'm kinda lost any ideas would be appreciated!!!!!!

Lynn5700-For a Sunday in July the minimum is $15,000 which I had no problem going over to begin with but when people started dropping out like flies things changed. I did think about upgrading the florial I am waiting to hear back from Rose but it takes her a while. I made my own favors so that was ruled out a while ago but good idea:goodvibes ! Have you started packing yet? I can picture you as someone who has lots of lists and very organized!
Camara381- Thanks! We really were not pleased with our engagement pcitures I am praying that the wedding ones come out better. Randy was so excited because he said it would be his first candle lit ceremony so he wanted to get a lot of dramatic shots.
Lpizzuro123- I think that I have ruled out any adding of food lol!:rotfl: We have a cocktail hour with a bunch of food. We have a four course plated dinner, wedding cake, and now the chocolate fountain. I think people will most remember this wedding for the food!

You could add special transportation for you or your guests. Or what about favors? I think you can get the mouse ears or the big disney lollipops through disney floral.

Melissa,
I just found your PJ. I love the your candle-operas in the aisle at the WP idea! Did you get those through Disney???
Also, I see you both are Boston peeps...:woohoo: :woohoo: What city are you in? My fiance is from Watertown. I lived in Southie, Newton, and Waltham.
OMG - you are a month away :cool1:

So I finally hit my minimum! I added on the mashed potato bar it sounds so yummy!
Here is the description Celeste gave me-The potato bar is $11.00++ per person and has a chef at the station preparing on stage. The station includes Yukon Gold mashed Potatoes, Beef Tips, Stilton Cheese and Crispy
Onions. Yummmmmmmmoooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!
I also added on a kids table center piece see the pic below it was about $300 yikes!!!! I also added on activity sets for the kids tables they were $10 each (who wants to go to the dollar store to get crayons and coloring books on there vacation? This just seemed easier and I needed to hit that 15K minimum).

Lizby- I know I am so excited I need a vacation so bad! The only issue we have now is that we have no place to live! We have been looking for a house for a little over a year and nothing is saying "this is my house" to me so it really sucks. Both sets of parents have offered to have us live at home for a while until we find the house we want but who wants to live at home with there parents when there married you kow what I mean? We both still live at home so unless we find an apartment with no lease (we would only want to be there for 6 months max) we will be staying at home until we find something.
29apr00-It does sound yummy for the ammount we will be paying they better be the best potatos ever! We are not telling anyone in our families how much the center pieces were they would kill us for paying that ammount!
