Here is the Suggested Itinerary for Friday-Sunday. Please let me know what changes/additions/deletions you'd like to make. (All positive suggestions are welcome :) )
DISMEETS
Friday
3pm - various DISers --- pick the place :-)
Dinner at Downtown Disney
Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen - 6:00 PM
Need to know total number of people so we can make PS (714) 776-5200
The Jazz Kitchen features homemade gumbo, seafood, pasta, and Cajun-style chicken. After 8pm, nightlife starts at the 120-seat Flambeaux Room, which features local musicians playing New Orleans jazz. There's dining downstairs, and fine dining upstairs.
Reservation for 14 for 6pm has been made (I couldn't get it for 6:30). The ressie is under the name, CATHY CANADA. :)
So far, we have: 14 Teri, MA, & Marc, Michelle, CC, TLK, Dayna (DumboOrBust), Tia (luvdisney), Tammy, Barb, BobBrazeal, MaryJo, Nick, Kelly
Of course, everyone is invited, however, the largest group they can accommodate is 14.
Saturday
7:30 Breakfast at La Brea Bakery (located in Downtown Disney, right next to the entrance to DCA. Features bagels, hot cereal, quiche, etc.
8:30 Meet at the Flag Pole in Town Square (Tammy, I think you & I will actually do it this time ;) ). This is a bring your own corn meet & picture taking. From here, whoever wants to ride on rides together can do so (recommended getting fastpass for Indy right away)
11:00 Lunch Meet
Riverbelle Terrace at Frontierland, overlooking Rivers of America, & featuring club sandwiches, veggie stew in a bread bowl, or burgers (you can get these next door at Stage Door Cafe)
Afterwards, go on rides. It's recommended that fastpass for Soaring Over CA be obtained as early as possible.
2:30PM Power of Blast 3:00 show at the Hyperion Theater at DCA (We have to know who's going to this so we can get the tickets ahead of time-total # of people.
So far, we have: 14 MaryJo, Nick, Kelly, Teri, Mary Alice, Marc, Lesley, David (TLK), Rachel (Poopie), Dayna (DumboOrBust), Tia (luvdisney), Tammy, Barb, Bob

8 - TLK, Poopie, MaryJo, Dayna (DumboOrBust), Tia (luvdisney), Tammy, Barb, Bob
7:00PM Electrical Light Parade (Which location do you prefer - meet in front of winery, or at the Main Entrance Plaza for seating?)
9:00PM Believe There's Magic in the Stars - Meet at the end of Main Street, near the photo shop. Need a clear view of the sky to the left of the castle. Another great location, but we have to get there early, is at the Partners Statue. Let me know what the majority wants.
More Rides
After the park closes, the true diehards can go to Downtown Disney or the Lost Boys Bar at Disneyland Hotel for drinks/coffee. There's also a Denny's across the street from Disneyland.
Sunday
8:00 AM How about breakfast at Riverbelle Terrace. Those who want something light can grab a muffin/ cinnamon roll/ other pastry, coffee/ hot chocolate, etc., at the Main Street Bakery, and go to the Riverbelle Terrace, and those who want something more hearty like eggs or pancakes can get those at the Riverbelle Terrace. ~ Final decision can be made on Saturday when everyone meets up.
Afterwards: Rides, etc.

Afterwards: Rides, etc.
Again, please let me know what you'd like tweaked, and if you know for sure that you're going to go to a particular event, let me know so I can add your name.

No sleeping allowed! ;)
Of course, if we add it to the itinerary it must be done.
We may also want to think of a meeting place on Friday evening somewhere in Downtown Disney maybe for us early arrivees.
I'm game for anyplace except Rainforest Cafe.
Actually, some of us will be there from Wednesday to Sunday morning. Anyone who is there before the 22nd, please let us know, we can make sure to meet somewhere onsite.
As far as a restaruant in DD for Friday dinnertime, Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen has a quick-service take-out with a dining area outside, under an awning -- it is a very nice place to be if the weather is nice. They also have indoor seating in their restaurant. I have done the take out/outside seating here before, and the food was quite good. That would get my vote. If we stay outside, people who don't want to eat could congregate and mingle without having waiters tripping over them. :) Somebody should walk by and see if they think it is suitable. Or if we go inside, we should give it a try and see if it lives up to its reputation as a great combination of creole food and New Orleans jazz.
I am so excited about this. I haven't been to DL since 1997! That was when all the contruction for DCA was just getting started. As far as suggestions, I'm leaving it up to the pros and I'm following the crowd. I'm just thrilled to be going! Also, my flight doesn't leave until Monday morning! Thanks!!

Arriving Fri. afternoon.....so I'm wide open for dinner on Friday night.....and leaving Monday morning......so I'm wide open ALL day on Saturday and Sunday. :bounce:
I am looking forward to seeing ALL of you. :) :) :) I'll be wearing my Lime Green Ribbon. :bounce:

Well - I gotta be taken off the list of possible attendees. We went with our kids in early January - with 2 in college - there's no way I can spend any $$ to go again that soon!
I expect a full report with details when it's over!!
There are a lot of places I would love to try as far as restaurants go. I always wanted to eat at Blue Bayou. We couldn't eat there because the wait was just too long. The idea of a character meal sounds like great fun to me, too! I (& I think a few others) have a three day park hopper ticket, so we can do the parks for three days. I hope to get as much park time in as possible. :D
Barb, I LOVE the Blue Bayou..... :) :) :) Oh yeah, I can see having a meal in there with you guys.... :) :) :)

Do you really think we could do a meal in there??? :bounce: That would be fun! :bounce: There might be too many of us though. :o
The corn picture is first thing Saturday morning, right? :D
Where is dinner Friday night???
Where is breakfast Sunday morning???
Ed and I had a nice lunch at some Mexican-themed buffeteria last May.....that was really yummy and tucked away~~~but had a lot of space! :)
Okay, I've put my thinking cap on......let it warm up a bit. ;)

Sorry to report that I will be unable to come to the Disneyland meet. :( I'm going to have some surgery done (again....), and the doctor has said no travel, no theme parks, no fun for at least 6-8 weeks after the surgery. I believe that Dayna is still coming without me, however.....you guys have fun.

Thats to bad. Now Steve, you listen to your doctor and take it easy. We will be thinking of you ;)
Sending Pixie dust your way to speed you on your recovery.
Oh, Steve... I am so sorry to hear that! I hope that everything goes well for you. My prayers are with you. We will gather some fresh Pixie Dust and send it your way. We will be thinking about you -- make sure that someone has your phone number.
I am afraid that Willy may not make it, either. :( I have been holding off on posting until things are more definite - we are still hoping that he can join us. Sending a little Pixie Dust in his direction as well.

they're dropping out all over the place. Is it something I said? :D
To all you undecided Please, Please, Please come. We don't bite, well maybe some of us do but we promise to be nice. :p
You don't have to come for the whole weekend unless you are traveling from far away. If you are local, just pop in for a minute, an hour, lunch, dinner, evening, the whole day whatever it takes to say hi. I'm sure we won't be hard to find. Just follow the CM laughing their fool heads off about these adults wearing lime green and acting like children let loose for the day at Disneyland without their parents.
We are actually quite tame despite stories to the contary on the convention board. None of that stuff really happened. It was all just a dream. ;)
So come on down and join the crowd. We'll be expecting you unless you have a note from your doctor no other excuses allowed. :D
:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
I'm so sorry Steve can't make it. I do understand, but it was going to be so great to have some of the DIS-CON gang back together again. :( And, Willie, you have to come! You absolutely have to. This was going to be my opportunity to meet you. Don't know when that will ever come up again. Hey, I'm coming all the way from Philly to be with you all. If we have half as much fun as we did at DIS-CON, this will be a real blast. Now, how can you miss that?!?!?!?!? :D :D

Sun noonish till whenever !!!
I'll be following along the thread to see where everyone is meeting and I'll be there.

Did anyone see the latest Disney Magazine? It has a write up about the ABC Soap Opera Bistro in DCA. I'm not a fan of soap opera's anymore, but it looks like it might be a fun place to eat. Has anyone ever been there, is the food good and is anyone interested in trying it? Just a thought. :)

We ate there on our last visit. It was pretty good. I don't know what the hours are now. It was pretty quiet when we were in there but they have people come around to your table and play act with you. I was having an affair with the intern but Joe was running away with the candy stripper who was also having an affair with the intern. Did you catch all that? That's why I never got into soap operas but it was fun.

LOL Tammy. :D I've never heard of that place........but then again I wasn't so 'hip' on eating at Prime Time at WDW and that ended up being a FABULOUS meal and a GREAT time! :bounce: So I'm a firm believer that I should try 'new' things. :)
Maybe we could fit that in on Sunday Barb. Anyone else want to come? :)

We are leaving in 2 days! Yaaaahoooo! But I may have to ask for some help.... so I had better let you know now.
OK, here is the scoop. It looks like Will really cannot make it, and we continue to send lots of good thoughts his way. We will most definitely miss him, and everyone else who can't make the trip. Our 'babysitter' backed out, too - we had invited Marc's inclusion aide to join us and initially he said yes, but he could not get out of another obligation next weekend. So, I may have to ask you all to help me keep an eye out for Marc. He is usually pretty good in the parks, just a little issue with impulsive grabbing that can cause trouble. And be aware, he does not like to see people eat food - grosses him out - so he tends to act up in restaurants in order to get us to take him outside. And last but definitely not least, he needs supervision (not any help) in the rest room, and he is getting too big to go into the ladies room.....so guys - I may ask you to make sure he is OK in the men's room once in a while. If he starts acting up and somebody who doesn't realize he is autistic gets mad at him and starts yelling, he can spin out of control.
Now, about staying in touch with our DIS buddies - I will bring my laptop, hope to be able to upload pictures from my digital camera on a daily basis. Wish we could do a webcam! (I don't think my wimpy laptop could handle the load.) I am still trying to figure out the easiest and quickest way to do this. I also thought we might want to start one super on-the-scene trip report thread (rather than lots of little ones that get lost), with links to the pictures, and I wonder which board would be best for that - the Disneyland Board, or the Community Board? What do you think?
luvdsny
02-18-2002, 12:36 PM
No problem Teri. I will be at your service. :) I look forward to meeting Marc and Mary Alice. :) And Kelly and Nick too. :)
:( :( :( I'm really sorry to hear about WillyJ though. :( :( :( I completely understand, but I want him to know that I will miss meeting him. ~*~pixie dust~*~ WillyJ. And {{{hugs}}}
About where to post the pics......I think the DISneyland board would be appropriate. Or even the trip reports board. We can post links to it. That's a great idea to have one, continuous thread Teri. :)
:sunny: See you on Friday. :sunny:

Looks GREAT, MJ! Cath and I are definitely in for dinner on Friday and will play Saturday by ear at this point. I'm sure we will be at one or more of the meets then too. :)
I think that WWTBAM would be a bit too much for Marc to handle... we might take that opportunity to go enjoy the pool at the Grand Californian. :) If the weather is nice.
OK, I am looking over the itinerary - we need to have an EXACT place to meet at 11 on Saturday so that people who may be dropping in will know where to find us. Are we doing Disneyland in the morning, then DCA in the afternoon?
Friday people - since it looks like Saturday will be a big DCA day, perhaps we should plan to enjoy Disneyland on Friday. Wednesday and Thursday will be "run wild and crazy" days. :) :) :) Actually, we will be doing lots of good research to check out the local hotels, new restaurants, kid clubs and shows, to share with our fellow DISers.
We may be joining you guys on Sunday for a while. :)
Teri, I'll help out, too. :D Although I've never really had an experience with an autistic child, my brother was mentally retarded (is that the PC term?) so I've had first hand experience with that situation.
Dayna and I arrive Thursday night. So, we'll have all day Friday available. Tia will get in around 3:00 that afternoon. Tammy will already be there. From what I see on the itinerary, we really aren't meeting the "group" until Friday night at Ralph Brennan's. So DL all day on Friday is fine with me. It's been a long time since I was there and I'm really looking forward to being in DL again! :) :)

Name the place and I will be there! :D
:sunny: Thanks!
Tia - give us a call when you get there. :)
I have to move over to the GC on Friday some time, but otherwise we plan to be onsite. I have not cancelled those last 2 nights (Friday and Staurday) at the Carousel, so if anyone is still looking for a room, we might be able to work something out so I don't have to rush out of the room that morning.*** room taken! Quiet??? Lesley, did you wander off and join up with some other group while we weren't looking????
Oh yes, we were calm and sedate the entire time. I don't think anyone even noticed we were there. ;) ;) ;)

I for one was very quiet the entire time.
Minnie Mouse, on the other hand, came very close to LAUGHING OUT LOUD!!!! :D :D :D
Well, DW and I were certainly quiet, since we did not make it at all.:(
We missed you, SINK. What happened?

Lesley, you were a bad :::clearing throat::: ;) , um, I mean 'good' :D influence on me. :D
I had a blast! :bounce: It was wonderful meeting all of the Best Coasters. :) I'll elaborate A LOT MORE :D after I get my kids tucked into bed. ;) be afraid, be very afraid! ;)
Well, there was a slight scheduling conflict. A project at work was due 2 weeks ago, I did not get a chance to finish it on time (due to hurrying home during the Winter Olympics to catch various events), therefore, I've spent the lovely weekend at the office playing on excel instead of riding on Space Mt, and instead of wishing for a chance in the hot seat at WWTBM, I was challenged by numbers coming at me from the left, from the right, from the front, from the rear, from above, from below, from the East.... Holy Cow, I'm buried in numbers. (who ever says accounting is boring, I was constantly reminded that debits are on the left, and credits on the right).

:( Bummer SINK :( We all really hoped you were just running late on Saturday. :( Don't you hate it when 'real life' interrupts our DISney plans??? Hope to meet you next time. :)
Hey MaryJo, do you have any funny ice-cream stories you'd like to share with everyone? :D
