california school holidays aug

hi can anyone tell me when the california schools go back in aug.
we recently visited from the uk just after easter and the parks were empty in the week but mad on the weekend.
We realy want to come back and wouldnt mind it being a bit packed but wouldnt want it to be too much more packed than it was on the weekends .

I'm not sure if all schools in California are the same, but my friend just got a job as a teacher in S.California and she starts August 16th, but that may be a couple days before the kids go back.

Most go back anywhere from the middle of August on through the beginning of September.

Yep. My kids go back the soonest of anyone I know. August 14th. Traditionally schools around here go back the Tuesday after labor day.

It is the first monday in September, which is September 3rd this year.

Every school district in Southern California is different on when they start school after summer break. There is no one set day where schools start in Southern California. They are all independent. My daughter's school, which is in the Valencia area, starts again around August 20th. There are other schools in our area that start the week of August 13th. Los Angeles Unified starts in early September, and I think the schools in Orange County start in early September. Private schools tend to have their own schedule, but usually start right after Labor Day.
