We are off to Disney in about a week and my husband just surprised me with balcony seating for Fantasmic. He said that he called on a whim and that they had just released seats for the balcony.

Very cool! I understand that they just reopened the balcony for Fantasmic seating and that's very good news.

Do you know how much this cost? I would like to consider doing this for my upcoming trip!

What is the difference between the 2 seating options?

Congrats, I surprised our party of 8 last year with balcony seating and we managed to get the front row. It is an awesome view, and quite honestly the only way I will watch Fantasmic is from the balcony. The desserts were wonderful, we had lunch that day at Blue Bayou and then didn't have supper because we were having desserts. That trip was Nov 06 and our kids still talk about Fantasmic. Have a great time!!!

I think I read that balcony seating is $59 pp.

The balcony seating is much better. You are in the center and elevated above the crowd. The riverside seating is off to the side by the Haunted Mansion and at river level. Also the balcony seating you get unlimited desserts. I believe with the riverside seating you are given an assortment of desserts and that is it.

How far in advance can this be booked?

I'm just interested in how you booked it, by yourself or through the Disney Resort Guest's vacation planning service?

We would like to do this in August, and I don't know whether to entrust it with the vacation planning people - can I trust them???? - or do it myself. Yes I am a control freak who likes to book everything myself, but on this occasion which do you all think is the best way to ensure we get seats on the balcony?

Thanks :D

I just copied this from Deb Wills' site (www.allearsnet.com). Is this info still correct, does anyone know?

The balcony accommodates 18 people. Seating can be reserved 30 days in advance by calling 714-781-4400 beginning at 8 a.m. PST. A credit card is required. The buffet is opened to guests an hour before the show begins and includes a variety of desserts and beverages.

Mazzy, I have read many people from here getting vacation planning to book the seats successfully for them. I think vacation planning get 1st choice so I plan to get them to book it for me.
Good luck.

Trust Vacation Planning! When we booked our last trip I went with Vacation Planning for the hotel and extras and they were wonderful. Not only did we get great rooms at PP, all of the kids in our group received autographed pictures, birthday balloons for my nephew, we ordered gift baskets, and other treats for the room, vacation planning booked our meal reservations, even to a restaurant in DTD as well she got us front row seating for 8 on the balcony for Fantasmic. I plan to always use vacation planning for booking these things in the future!

I'm shocked they reopened the Balcony seating, I wonder if they have any seating left for June 18th or 20th probably not though.

Just called and they have openings for the 10:30 showing. However, they won't let us switch from waterfront to balcony. I suppose we will just have to go for balcony next time.

It's nice to read the positive comments about the balcony seating. We have only done waterfront before. I'm a little nervous because everyone say's that once you've done balcony you won't want to do waterfront again...and I am a total last minute planner and know that we got these seats by luck and some pixie dust:cloud9:

VegasMike21-We have a reservation for the 18th and I believe my husband called a week ago and we were the 1st people so I would say it's worth a shot:thumbsup2

I just booked balcony seating a couple of days ago for July 2nd, I'm really happy they brought it back! :woohoo:

We've done the riverside seating before and really enjoyed it!

I have a question for anyone that's done the balcony seating before, how early do you need to check in before the show to get the first row, since the seating is more limited?

You do get refreshments. Its a dessert buffet and beverages (non-alcohol of course).

I thought it was done by order of purchase, not order of check-in time.:confused3

When we did the riverside seating it was by check in time (at least last year it was). We checked in and they put your name on a list, and then when they were ready to seat you they went down the list and called names.

I believe balcony is done by order of reservation, riverside is done by order of check in.

We are booked onsite through our AAA TA. It is a room only reservation, not a package. Can we contact Vacation Planning or can she and get them to make these reservations for us for balcony seating? We already got everything else, including Napa Rose for our anniversary so this is the only thing we don't have ready yet.

Is there a charge for autographed pictures, first time buttons, balloons, etc.? I'm mostly interested in first time buttons, since we will be first-timers!

You just have to be a guest staying on site.

There is no charge for the autographs pic or buttons.
