We have a February use year and have thought about taking a trip in January but worry about losing our points if we have to cancel at last minute. How many of you with Feb. use year travel in January? Any tips?

Thanks!

We have a March UY and only once have we booked a January DVC trip, and I was concerned due to weather about having to cancel. This year, when we went in Jan. we used other, offsite accomodations that would have been easier to cancel, without the repercussions.

Of course, I think I saw that you are from Cali., so snow, bad weather isn't really a factor, if you're traveling direct. I would probably buy the trip insurance, so some of the cost will be reimbursed...it's not a big reimbursment though, maybe only $5 a point...or that's what it was when we looked at it.

I have a March Use Year and was thinking of booking a February visit. However, I ended up moving it to March just to be safe, even though it cost me more points.

Cancellations within 30 days of arrival, regardless of use year or banking windows, will always levy severe restrictions on the cancelled points. You'll just have a bit less time to use them in your case. I wouldn't worry too much about this since most trips aren't cancelled at the last minute anyway and DVC does offer some leeway when weather forces delays or cancellations. I would imagine airfare cancellations would be a much bigger issue anyway. Worst case is you end up treating friends or family members to some time at WDW if you can't go.

Have a great trip!

I have a March UY and I've had trips the last 2 Jan. and have another one coming up this Jan. Unless I'm dead, I don't plan on cancelling.
