Well, 12 days and counting and I have some questions.
1) Has anyone ever had a shave in Dapper Dans? How much is it? Do you have to book etc.?
2) We have one GMFL breakfast booked. I didn't know you could book more than one! Has anyone ever managed to book them at the hotel concierge successfully?
3) Cafe Mickey? Should we or shouldn't we? (We do have a character tea booked at Plaza Gardens). But I think it would be a nice treat for the kids...
There are other questions, I've just drawn a blank at the moment!
I haven't heard of anyone on this board going to Dapper Dans, but I would love to know more about it myself.
People have managed to book the GMFL breakfast once they have arrived, but if you want a better chance of getting another, then you could always ring the Disney booking line now.
Cafe Mickey is fun - we found it very loud, but the children didn't care!!

Never heard of anyone on here having a shave but whenever we look at the moustache mirror in the window it's always been empty in there so I guess you probably won't need to book.

Go for it! We loved Cafe Mickey! :goodvibes

We didn't book our GMF breakfast prior to going - we got one at check-in at the hotel (Santa Fe) no problem.

Cafe Mickey - go for it!
I've posted somewhere else about our holiday (search for my name), but the Cafe Mickey visit was one of the highlights (amongst many) of the Holiday. It one way for the kids to get a decent bit of attention from the characters without others barging in. Also it's very easy to photo, video and get autographs. We went on a Friday afternoon for dinner, and it was fairley quiet.

If you're having the character tea at the Plaza Gardens, its the same deal as Cafe Mickey as far as the characters are concerned. You sit at your table, and all the characters come to you, for a hug, autograph and a photo opportunity. You should get about a dozen characters during the time you are there for the character tea.

On our last visit my Hubby ran into Dapper Dan's for a shave and a haircut (2 bits!) Well, actually he just had a haircut, but the barber did use the straight razor, (complete with leather strapping for sharpening) to clean up his neck.
The cut was nicely done, with my husband being military hie is very picky about the length of his hair. The little place is just charming as can be!
He paid 20 euro... including the tip for the barber.
If I can find the pics I took of him in the chair, I will get them posted up. :)

Ooh yes please, it's lovely to hear of someone who has actually been in here! :yay:

I love to see some too :goodvibes Not sure if my DH would go there now - he went a bit white when he read about the straight razor :rotfl:

This was "before". I didn't get much of an after as he put his hat back on.

If they offered a straight razor shave then I'd be there in a flash :)

They do offer the straight razor shave... The hub was just in for a cut that day, as he is more the electric razor kind of guy. :)

You must go and do that then - and get some pictures taken of it!! :teeth:
Thanks for the photo MsFreud - it's really nice to know that Dapper Dans is still a "working" barbers shop :)

Well, I've had a word with the wife (who thinks the decor looks like a Travel Lodge) but Cafe Mickey seems to be on the cards! :cool1:
I quite fancy popping into Dapper Dan's, it's the shave I'm after. I don't get haircuts that often, I've had one so far this year (and that'll probably be it)!
I'm a bit of an old hippy, but with... anger! :rotfl2:
The straight razor is very appealing, but I'm already having visions of Godfather 2!
I'll try to get some pictures (with and without the blood)! :scared:
Cheers!

I've had 5 shaves and 2 haircuts there. It is excellent, but booking is recommended (the barber is not always in, and a number of cast members go there). They start with the hot towels on the face to open up the pours. Then the foam with the brush. then on to the straight razor shave. Afterwards, more towels, powder and collogne. It is very relaxing and takes time. It's wonderful just before or after a meal at Walt's or the Silver Spur with a bottle of wine. Perfect!

Thanks for the photos MsFreud and the detailed description Dave! :thumbsup2
I would try to persuade my DH to go for the experience but just the thought of that razor and :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: he is an "electric shaver" man! :rotfl2:
