anyone want to join me?
I know..... it's no fun. But since I am desperately saving in order to visit WDW next year, and I only work during the school year, I think that I will have to cut back on my scrapping spending, at least until September. I certainly have enough supplies to keep me working until then.
So I am vowing, right here and now, to not spend money on ANYTHING other than photo printing, adhesive, or refill blades, until at least September 1, 2007.
Do you think I can do it???
Wish me luck...............P

Good Luck P!!
I'm holding off on things too.. with the exception of photos, paper and adhesive! I have enough carts now and swap items that I should be good for awhile!!!
We'll see how it goes!!! ;)

Good luck!:)
Should I not buy any scrap stuff all summer? Probably. Will I buy scrap stuff? Probably.:rotfl: I'll be in FL at the end of the month, so I'm thinking I *may* hit mousememories warehouse and I KNOW I'll be making a trip to ACMoore. I don't think I'll be able to get out of either place w/o spending $$$.

I am doing this too. We have a 2 week orlando (disney/ universal) vacation in October, and a 10 year anniversary cruise in January (2 weeks off here as well ). I already cancelled my scrapgoods membership in April. I think the only exception to this rule would be if I found the cricut Disney carts for $30! LOL. Yeah, I'm sure THAT will happen. :P
So good luck my sisters!!

I'm in! I just got the Cricut so now I am on a spending freeze. Even for swaps I need to Shop my Stash.

I *think* I'm in, lol. I realized the other day that in a ten day time frame, I spent over $300 on scrapping....YIKES! I went from not having any hobby at all to being outfitted with a LOT of stuff in 6 months, including two die cut systems! I want to get the Cricut tools, or at least the spatula to get those pesky letters off the sticky cutting pad, and I may need one more set of cutting pads. Other than that, I should be good until at least August. When we go to WDW in August, we're there for my birthday and my sister is taking me to the scrapbook store at DTD for my birthday present:).

Good luck! I know I couldn't do it since I have to buy a baby gift for my step-sister :D She scraps and is having a boy (after having a girl) so I'm giving her scrapping stuff instead of traditional baby stuff

As many of you have mentioned, it could be done. Unfortunately, on Sunday I discovered a wonderful new scrapping store in CT, too close to home!!!:thumbsup2 I was disciplined (only $71. cash) but came away feeling that I now have more than enough to get me through the summer.
So, I will try and join you on the scrapfasting!!! Here's to our success!! ;) Caroline

Count me! I want to go to disney next year so my husband made a deal with me. If I can go without buying scrapbook items for the summer we can put that money aside to save to go towards our trip. The only thing I can buy is through my monthly stampin up club that I belong to because I was signed up for that before the deal came about. Its been about a week so far I am doing good. I have unsubscribed myself from the Joann's and Michael's flyers from being emailed to me. Together we can get through the summer using our own stash. LOL

Good luck to all of you!
I certainly should do this also, but I'm realistic enough to know it's not going to happen. Isn't that why I work? To pay the scrapbooking bills?

I on the other hand am working very hard this week and a few days the next couple of weeks to have money to spend at CKC in Fort Lauderdale and other scrapping supplies all summer. I will limit myself to the money I make on these days for the summer though. Good luck to all of you using your stash. I do that as much as i can since it takes about an hour to get to the nearest store but I won't go all summer without new stuff I am sure.

After I finish my Disney/Orlando book I will probably take a break so that I can save money for Salem/Boston. I might work on some digital pages and finish those books up. I have to work on my Gettysburg/Washington DC pages, which are from June 2006. I have the photos and paper for them, I just haven't had time to work on them since I stopped work on them to save to go to Disney in January, but then I started right in on my Disney book, again putting off finishing the Gettysburg/Washington DC book. Oy. Plus I will have two Chicago trips to scrap, but I should have enough paper to work on those without spending money. OK. I think I can do this. After I finish my Disney/Orlando book! ;) And I will say in advance that I will probably fall off the wagon at the Scrapbook Convention in July! ;)

I am so in on this! I have so much stuff my room is bursting at the seams, I need to actually start using it! Limiting myself to only buying basics (adhesive, replacement pens, photo paer/ink and cardstock.) I get through black Le Plume pens like a woman possessed!
My cut off date is August 31st as that's when I'll be going to the crafts convention in my mum's town, there's only 2 a year. I really need to save money for our vacation this year, the wedding and next year's honeymoon which is simply frightening in its costs!!

I really must try not to spend for a couple of months. Of course if I didn't swap I wouldn't need to much stuff :lmao: I'm not going to sign up for any more swaps I can't use (i.e. no more Disney swaps ) - just general kid/vacation stuff and recipes - *** I have to eat, especially if I cant spend ;)
The paper box will be coming to you soon Queenie(its not reached me yet) so that will sort out your paper requirements :goodvibes

Just wondering how everyone is doing! I did go into ACM yesterday and carried a clearanced Sizzix die around with me for a few minutes, but decided against and it put it down. I walked past the remaining clearance papers without hardly a look (okay... maybe just a glimpse) and I managed to walk out of ACM having spent......
ZERO!!
That doesn't happen very often. Maybe it helped that I had the kids with me and they were both "starving" for dinner!
I think that the trick to not spending will be to stay away from ACM and Michael's, as well as my LSS (although she offers a birthday discount and my b.day is this month:rolleyes: ) And I definitely have to stop reading the enabler threads that seem to be here EVERY DAY! Hope everyone else is sticking to budget!........................P

I haven't spent a dime..and have no plans to in the near future.. too much real life in the way right now.. I thought summer vacation meant life would slow down with the kids... I seem to be bumping into myself at every corner...and sometimes I think my van just starts up on it's on because it knows if I'm going out front that mean we are leaving!
After doing a little spending today perhaps I can join in the shopping hiatus for the rest of the summer. Count me in unless I go window shopping with B&MB.;) :rolleyes1

I went to Mikes today, but only bought adhesives!!! I did look at the Cricut display, trying to decide to buy or not (see new thread on that topic) so I did have good will power today..........but my scrap buddy told me about a great lss about 30 minutes from here that we will probably check out next week, I don't need ANYTHING but who knows what I might find.

Good luck!
I'm recently off my spending hiatus. The words "out of site, out of mind" really apply. It was easiest, just not to look at the ads or go to a store. And to stop reading the 2Peas message boards. I still looked at the Gallery, but reading the boards I felt an urge to shop all the time. At least this is a "slow" time of year, as M's & Js aren't coming out with a new ad every week now.
As for me, now that I am off, I am OFF! The LSS closest to me is closing at the end of June. It was small and too expensive, so I never really shopped there, but with a sale... Last Thursday, everything was 40% so I spent $70. Today it went 60% off and so I spent another $40. Now I have to spend money on some Cropper Hoppers to hold all the Bazzill paper I have purchased! I suspect next Thursday it will go up to 75 -80% so I will have to go back.

Ahh, too bad for the LSS that's closing. It's always kinda sad to see one bite the dust. Lucky you though, getting the bargains! Bazzill on sale or on clearance always gets my blood a pumping! It's a sickness, I tell ya!:rotfl:
I went to ACM today (in hunt for cheap cricut cart for me and my DIS friends) and walked out spending zip, zilch, nada, el grande nada. Guess I am keeping to my summer hiatus promise for now.:thumbsup2

Awwww, man! I really should do this too. I've been stalking the Cricut display at my WalMart since someone posted on the Cricut boards that hers clearanced some of the carts as low as $25 and $30. Mine has a few at $45 right now, and I keep holding back. I've got my eye on Animal Kingdom. They went from 5 to 2 of them at that price. Hey! Maybe if everyone else is scrapfasting they will HAVE to clearance them, and that's when I'll nab it and start MY scrapfast.

Does anyone else have scrap paper bursting at the seams? My container for them can barely close. I challenged myself to only use scraps (besides a base page) and I completed three layouts last night. It was fun!

Good job Steph!! After I finish the dogs album I'm going to do a bunch of random pages and that is my goal, scraps only.

I love that "scraps only" goal..... but these days I would be lucky to do ANY PAGES with ANY PAPER! I definitely have got to get moving... I've had the same four page LO sitting on my table for several weeks now!................P

I fell off, crashed and burned, but I got my cricut :dance3: DH indulged me early for my b-day. Plus spent about $50 at the lss I went to check out, they had some cute disney and misc stuff my stores in town don't have.
But I'm done, "I hereby promise NO MORE scrap supplies for the summer, (except if I see a cricut cart on sale) but then that's technically not supplies, right? :rolleyes1 that's a tool.

Know the "falling off" feeling - I indulged and bought my Cricut 2 weeks ago - but a plus is, school is now over for the summer, and more scrapbooking will get finished, thus diminishing many of my supplies (summer school teaching money pays summer bills, not scrapping supplies;) ). This time I will stick to my promise!!! Caroline

All of you folks who have fallen off the wagon are forgiven! I totally feel your pain and can sympathize with the addiction! It's time to pick yourself up and brush your credit cards off (as you put them away..... way down deep in your wallet), and think.... "One day at a time". .................P
Does buying an AMM purse at ACMoore count as falling off the wagon?:rolleyes1

Okay.... I didn't TOTALLY fall of the wagon today, but I did hit a pot hole. I made the mistake of looking in the Target Dollar spot and spotted a couple of cute punches.... a tiny square and a tiny flower. That's it.... $2. Sorry ladies.... I'm embarrassed that I, your "Shopping Hiatus Leader" has hit a bump.... but after all, I am only HUMAN!!! On the good side, I spent 20 minutes in Michael's today and bought nothing even REMOTELY scrapping related! ............................P

And I agree with Grumpy's Gal Con -tain-ersssssss x 7 to be exact....:rolleyes1
