Hi Everyone,

We bought 222 points back in the first few days of 2001 at VWL, then without having seen the resort I worked out that we had bought the wrong amount of points as the 222 was for a studio for 2 weeks but that was when we thought about buying at BWV which was availble at the time of our tour. Having discovered the problem I set about buying a small add on but then probably due to my dyslexia I wrong figured the amount to add on. We added 28 when it should have been 46 this would have allowed us enough points for our annual vacation in a studio at VWL in July.

Should we plead our case to DVC ??????????????

I'm not sure what case you want to plead. I'm not sure I'm following your story. You purchased a 28 point add one. Was this direct from Disney? Was it for BWV or VWL? How long ago?

What is it you'd like them to do? Allow you to purchase fewer than 25 points? Possibly if you bought within the last 30 days direct from DVC they might let you bring the amount up to 46 points. If you do have to purchase a 25 point contract I wouldn't consider it a problem (except for the additional cost). This would give you a bit of a cushion if you want to try out a one-bedroom one year or if the calendar ends up giving you an extra weekend night some year. It's not bad to have little leeway rather than trying to plan right down to the actual points needed.

Thanks Pam,

We bought the add on in July 01, but then I went on military duty to Saudi Arabia for 4 months so I forgot about points etc. We need 268 for 2 weeks at our home resort in July, Do people think they would let me have the 18?

Doesn't hurt to ask....the worst they can say is no. ;) I would be sure to mention that you were away on military duty when you tell them your story.

What about other options, such as borrowing?

You could also decide to pay cash for those weekend nights, rather than buying those extra points. As a member, you do get a discount. Last summer we stayed in a 2 bedroom unit for $267 per night in July, which saved me 150 points. I paid cash for a one bedroom over Christmas at the rate of $243 and got daily maid service to boot!I thought I had died and gone to heaven!! Sometimes it's better to pay cash than to use your points--by not using my points one the weekend I got 4 nights during the week, which I felt was a better deal.
