I'm glad you posted this. I have always wondered what River Country was like. Maybe one day they will bring it back or at least update that pool! :goodvibes

There are many reasons listed for closing river country. Blizzard Beach, Typhoon lagoon being two. Also there is some type of bacteria or something in the lake that is said to make it not safe to swim. Then you also have the problem of not being able to see through the water and the pool was very deep and probably considered unsafe.

I miss river country like crazy, my family always loved going there and going down the flumes. Of course the first theing we did as soon as we got to Fort Wilderness was go swimming in bay lake. Ah the good old days.

I sure miss River Country. I wish they would wall it in and just make a regular water park with it. Ah, to dream...

I just went to that site, how pitiful it looks compared to the glory days.

I still say it can be cleaned and work out. Disney just doesn't want to spend the money, or so I have heard through the grapevine.

That's so sad, I have many memories of RC as a kid. I can't believe what it looks like! WOW:sad2:

I loved that place i heard that the reason why they closed was due to the bacteria and i also heard it was due to the alligators, they couldn't safely rope the area off but that is what i heard anyway i truely miss that place, we went in 2003 and are going to go back this sept and its truely a shame that it has been abandoned like that:sad1:

Thanks for the video and the footage. I liked seeing the past and the present. I loved RC an would love to see it brought back. Someone mentioned that they closed it due to bacteria and alligators - they could not keep them out. Yeah, I guess that could be a problem...LOL

I think the real reason is Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon.

It also has videos of the old rides at the MK. Things my DD and DS would have loved!

OMG gatordad that video really brought back the memories. very misty eyed that is for sure, we are going again in sept and are staying in the campground, boy i truely wish that they do something with that property. its sooo sad to watch it rot away that is for sure, my husband has only been once (4 years ago) so he has no clue what rc was all about, my favorite was the tubes and getting stuck and trying to get over the bumps and getting stuck and trying sooo hard to get over those speed bumps, and laughing at trying to do it, those were the days. thanks for bringing back such great memories, you really made my day thanks:cool1: :cool1:
