Hi Everyone,

We booked the April 7, 2002 sailing of the Disney Wonder this past week. It is also the DVC 10th Anniverysary Cruise. Is anyone else going?

We were originally going on RCCL's Adeventure of the Seas from San Juan, but read some very disturbing reviews about it and decided to play it safe and go on Disney!

We'd love to go, but are already scheduled for a 10 day cruise leaving the 15th.
Have a great time and do a trip report about whatever special event there are.

We're seriously considering this. We are already booked on the 6/29-7/6 trip for DD's graduation, but the price (both points and $$) almost makes this too good to pass up! DH and I are considering it as a trip for ourselves. I guess it would be a pre-cruise cruise??:D

We just got the info in the mail on Friday and hopefully Dvc member services is open on Martin Luther King Day. My wife and I would like to go without the kids for a quite 4 day get-a-way!

DO you think member services will be open Monday?

I have seen some posts saying the cruise is already full!

We are going on this cruise! It is our first Disney cruise and I am soooo excited. I don't know if MS is open on MLK day. I just booked on Friday. It seemed as though it was pretty booked. Ask about getting a guaranteed room if they say they don't have anything. I think this means that you won't be assigned a room until a couple weeks before it sails. If this is ok with you it might work to get a lower categry cabin.

We're going, too! And, this our first cruise ever. Maybe fellow Atlantan DCL-fan can give newbies like me and disneydawn some tips???

We just got back from our first cruise on the Magic 7 day over christmas. Its a 7 day cruise and we over packed just a bit I think! DW would disagree perhaps.:)

If we get on for the April cruise its going to be bathing suits, 2 pr of Dockers for dinners and a suit for formal night for me. The only thing we did not bring and needed was the Imodium AD! Had a 24 hr bug go through out cabin but they did have it at the Health Center so that was nice.

Travel as light as possible! Don,t forget the sunscreen and you will have a great time.

Ask all the questions you like on this board and you will get so much help. We learned alot here before our cruise.

We will be joining you on the 4/7/02 Wonder cruise. Also have a daughter 9. We did this same cruise last year during spring break and it was really crowded but the people really seem to be able to spread out well. The only complaint was the day at sea last year, the pools were too crowded, hard to get chairs etc... I'm pretty sure this cruise has the extra stop instead of the day at sea which is nice when it is really booked. I hope your family enjoys this cruise as much as we hope to again.

Hi disneylover4ever,

I guess we are neighbors. We live on the northwest side of town also. We are up in Acworth. This will be our 5th Disney cruise and our 3rd on the Wonder. It is kind of funny, and not on purpose, we seem to alternate the 4-day and the 7-day cruises. Wonder - Magic - Wonder - Magic and now the Wonder again! We were on the Wonder in August and had a great time.

We are very excited about the trip. We are heading down Saturday, staying at the RAD that night, then after cruise we are staying Thuyrsday night at the Grand Floridian using some points that we had to redeposit and can't use for DVC. Then we are trying to stay at the Wilderness Villas on Friday night before we head back!

See you on the boards..and maybe on board!

We received the information last week, I think on Tuesday and my wife called on Wednesday. There weren't any category 6 cabins avaiable, but there seemed to be some 5's and 8's.

When we did the 4-day in August, we did without the kids and had the best time. Duelling Pianos is the best! It was a pre-crusie like Mickey4Me is considering. We also did the 7-day in September on the Magic!

Good Luck!

Hello,
I was unable to get to the boards for the last several days due to problems with the server. My daughter (17) and I were booked through DU for the 3day land/4 day sea package, then I read this post over last weekend. I tried to phone Monday -MLK day - of course they were closed. I phoned at 9a.m. Tuesday and secured our space - Category 11! I quickly cancelled the 7 day package, booked three nights at CBR prior to the cruise. As a reward for saving $900.00, we are splurging on AKL the evening of April 3rd. By the way, I recieved my postcard two days after I made the reservation.
THANKS so much for the info.

Sounds like you made out very well buy switching your plans. We got a Cat. 9 by calling that Tuesday first thing. I think the ship was booked full by the afternoon.

It will be a great time!

I am also going to be on the DVC cruise. It will be our first cruise. I splurged a little because of the savings on points and got a category 5 which I would not have been able to do if it would have been normal points. Hope to see some of you there.....CAN'T WAIT.........

We're driving down from NJ, too. Been a hard sell to get my wife in the air again. We've done the drive before, but my kids (6 & 3) are unpredictable sometimes! You should have received a letter from DVC highlighting some of the special events as well!

LOL:) Actually, I did begin packing yesterday! I wonder where all the other DVC cruisers are hiding ?Btw.....we did receive a call from DCL on Friday. Our daughter took the message and it frightened me a little at first because I couldn't figure out why they would be calling. Dh called them back and DCL said that they were offering transfers from OKW for this cruise. Since we are driving straight to the port from home we declined the offer. So.....maybe there is going to be DVC party bus from OKW:)

We, too (actually three) are on the 10th Anniversary DVC Cruise. This is our first cruise and we can't wait.

Thank you all for your tips and strategies. These long weeks of anticipation are finally coming to a close; we are so grateful for the DIS board moderators and contributors.

Looking forward to seeing you all on board!

Very busy packing here, too!! My wife did take a few minutes out to point out that she's already spent the $150 DVC on-board credit <LOL>!! I have been religiously reading the DIS boards for info, tips, and recommendations. The people who contribute info are incredible! These last few days are going to be hard with all this anticipation!!!!

Can't believe it's almost here! Personally, I'm experiencing a mix of excitement and nervousness -- I've never been on a cruise in my life, let alone a boat this big. (yikes!)
Been checking weather report for Bahamas -- looks like some rain at end of this week. Sure hope the weather improves.
See you all on board!

Have clothes and stuff all over, trying to decide what to take. We leave Friday night, flying into Orlando. We rented a car and will drive to the port on Sunday morning from our condo in Winter Haven. We're in 7501, anyone close to us? Just hubby and me. First time cruisers.

Well...time sure flies when you are having fun. We came home last night after the 4/7 DVC 10th Anniversary Cruise and a couple of days at WDW. We had a great time and it was fun meeting a lot of the fellow DVCers. There were 1,000 DVCers including guests and the ship was full. About 2,700 total on board. The weather was great and they had a lot of fun activities and receptions for us while on board. They gave away landyards, hats, t-shirts, and had a bunch of raffles. They took a picture (in the shape of the number 10) of all the DVCers on the beach at CC on Wednesday morning with the ship in the background. We all received a copy of the picture in our stateroom that night.

Unfortunately, we weren't the lucky winners of the grand prize which was your 2003 dues. But we did get runner up on the adult scavenger hunt! The kids had a separate scavenger hunt too.

Food - Excellent (especially Palo!)
Service - Excellent!
Weather - Excellent!

We booked a 7-day cruise to the Western Caribbean while on board, 5/24/03 and it seemed like a really good deal. They only give the onboard credit from the Castaway Cay Club when you book on board now. It used to be if you booked within so many days, now you have to book on board.

After we got off the cruise, we stayed one night at the GF and one night WLV. Both were great! We also went to see the new BCV at the BW that they have setup! They are very nice. We have a reservation to stay there in October for a weekend.

Oh well...that is it for now. I know I am forgetting something!

It was awesome wasn't it. I am looking forward to going again but on the 7 day and I am also going to wait til the little one turns 3. Everything was great and the staff was great......With all those people I never thought it was crowded and there was an abundance of Characters.............Pictures that they took came out excellent and of course I bought a ton. The kids programs and flounders were also excellent. All and All this was one of my favorite Disney trips. My son now is collecting pennies to save for his next cruise, too funny.............

This was our first cruise ever, and boy are we spoiled now!. I thought it was funny how people on other cruise ships docked near us in Nassau lined up on their deck to watch all the parties and fun on our ship.

I didn't win any DVC give-aways, either. But, the special DVC things we did receive and the events were very nice. Previous reviews of the four-day cruise are right on target. Palo's was fantastic! Overall, we thought it was a wonderful trip. And now we can't wait to go on another Disney cruise :)
