I came across some good info I haven't seen posted yet -- Northwest Airlines is advising its passengers to NOT put film in their checked in luggage (something to do with the new screening devices possibly damaging or destroying film). They're saying passengers should pack film in their carry-ons only.

Travelers with items such as cameras and film, computers, cell phones and other electrical equipment may usually pass through the security screening equipment without harm to their belongings, but it's wise to inquire with the screening personnel if you have a concern. At some airports the airlines use screening equipment for checked luggage that may damage or destroy film. For this reason it is advised that you only pack film in your carry-on luggage.

I'm not sure this was safe before the recent happenings. I had been told many years ago not to put film thru the readers. Hope the digital camera/disc is fine too!

I noticed you posted about a digital camera. For anyone who has one you must try a program called DVD Picture Show. You can download a trial at ulead.com. It allows you to make slide shows with digital pictures and include music with them and then burn them on a cd. It makes a VCD which will play in your DVD player. You need to have a DVD player that will play VCD's and CD-R's. You can see if your DVD player is compatable with CD-R's or RW's at VCDhelp.com. My Sony wasn't but I bought a 80.00 Apex 1500 at Wal-Mart that works great. I made a slide show of our last Disney Cruise and used a "When You Wish Upon a Star" mp3 for the music. It was very nice. The program allows you to have several slide shows of up to 99 pictures each and it starts with a menu so you can pick the slide show you want. It is a great way to show off your photos of your cruise. I have a 46 inch widescreen tv and even with the pictures this size they look really good.
