I know owners can pool hop and renters can't (although they are often told they can, and often do). What about guests of an owner staying in another unit? Technically, aren't they "renters," since they aren't staying in the same unit that I am?
For what it's worth, our reservations ARE linked in the system, and I will be with my guest while we are pool hopping. We just decided to get two one bedroom units instead of one two bedroom. So is my guest allowed to join me at the pool?
Thanks!

My guess is that this is more of a fine line distinction that any CM at WDW will be willing to make. Your guests' room keys will say DVC Member on them, and they'll be with you and your blue membership card. Hopefully this won't start a big messy thread here, but my guess is it shouldn't be a problem.
Technically PH is restricted to owners staying on points and their guests with them and subject to availability. DVC actually divides them into 3 groups of owners, guests (who pay NOTHING) and renters (from anyone who buys you a meal as a thank you to a stranger paying you for the entire stay). Some perks are offered to guests but increasingly they are not available to others except the member at least technically.

All RIght this might and probably does sound like a really silly question. But What is Pool Hopping? I mean I did not realize that there are specific pools set aside for DVC members. I figured DVC and regular vactioners all used the same amenities.:confused3 Very confused please help

Certain holiday times are blocked out and AK plus YC/BC pools are excluded. And we're supposed to call ahead to get permission.
