I am not familar with any Kareoke places locally, that does not mean they do not exist. Truth be told the one at Swan was the first one I ever went to. May be my co- organizers could look into that as an activity for one of the evenings, I will not get lost this time:rolleyes:

Rumor has it that the snow is now headed out way and then on to Boston! Yech!!! I think I am feeling the effects of gloomy days. I had a particularly bad day yesterday, which resulted in me sitting in the dining room crying my eyes out. Good grief. Now today the sun is shining, although it's still very cold. I feel better, and can't imagine why I fell about like that. I think I'm one of those who NEEDS the sun to survive!!!
I sure miss you all and could have used a giant group hug yesterday-which was part of why I was unhappy! I can't wait till we're all together again. Glo, if we can't find a place for Karoake or dueling piano's, we'll just make our own right there at Patrick's!!!!!! I'm so looking forward to seeing you all during the summer. Now if only it would just here! BTW, got my room in Oakbrook!!!!!!! Yippee!!

Thanks for the info, Chris and Brian! :) Hey, I was there at the FIRST annual Taste of Chicago in 1981! :D

Barb, I'm assuming you have your reservation at the Embassy Suites, right?

So, is this now an official Patrick Con event????

Hey Brian!!!!

huh? huh??

I think hitting Taste of Chicago for Sunday lunch might be a good idea. Those of us staying at the Embassy Suites will get a nice cook-to-order breakfast, so lunch doesn't have to be particularly early.

Chicago Fest sounds vaguely familiar, Patrick, but it was a LONG time ago! ;)

Chicago Fest it was Patrick!! Jane Byrne was mayor I think (or Michael Bylandic). I was at that first one, too. Haven't been down there for about 15 years now (we always used to go on vacation over the 4th).
Just a warning , if Sunday is the last day, it will be REALLY crowded.

If I remember correctly, Taste and ChicagoFest were two different things. ChicagoFest was always held at Navy Pier, and it was more of a music festival, while Taste is always in Grant park, with the emphasis obviously on food. But I could be wrong. After all, I was only 12 at the time. :D :D :D

Corrine- I was Jane Byrne- her and her daughter went up on stage with "Jake and Elroy" and had the hats and sunglasses on- my memory is slowly returning lol

OK...Jane Byrne became mayor in Spring of 1979, after the BIG snowstorm!!! I remember cuz I was going to school in Chicago that year. (BTW - Michael Bilandic just died.) The first Taste of Chicago was in 1981...and that's the one I was at...on July 3rd for the fireworks/food!
