We just got back two days ago. We went for my DD bday and are planning for April 09 already for a longer stay.
We were going to do April 4-12(but week before easter probably way too busy and more expensive).
Her bday is April 5th mine is April 20th. So we are thinking April 18th-24th. Thats after easter and should not be as crowded and rates should be lower?
But maybe we should start an April 09 Thread!!

We are tentative for April 16-26 2009. Likely POR, we loved it so much we are scared to be disapointed if we try anything else. We will be celebrating DH's 40th B-day. I gave him choice between a big party at home or a trip, and he had no hesitation, WDW!! We just got back from our first family trip and loved it so much we can't wait to go back!

Just beware, that week is school vacation week for much of New England and parts of New York. It will still be crowded and we will be adding 4 to the crowds at the Poly, April 17-26.
Also, I would think that the rates will be lowered on the 19th or 20th.

I would have never booked Airfare this early but Airtran had a flight for 56$ one way per person and I couldn't pass it up. DD does have to miss 2 days because the flights were over 300 one way but her teacher will understand.

That's a friend's bday and she was always on spring break.Anyway, for Easter our public school friends are not getting the whole week-just like Good Friday off--depending on the school system.

Question is, we have 3 birthdays and our 15th anniv. between April and May, so the next week after Easter (anywhere from the 13th on) should it be packed? and is value season back on around the 20th? We've been in Mid-end of May and the crowds were picking up by then-but what do ya'll think?

In RI & CT school vacation week starts the 10TH Good Friday and is all the following week. I think some other schools in New England will have the week after but what I have been reading the parks are packed but the weather is great


Also where is a good place to eat for Easter? Any suggestions?

I live in the midwest and alot of schools start there spring brk Good friday which is the 10th through the 19th. If you were going to go in april and had some flexability I would go between the 20th and on. IMHO

We aren't sure yet because southwest hasnt come out with their rate and I prefer to fly SW. Although Airtran has had some 94 rates recently but out of Logan....I do not like Logan though. I guess when I posted that, Disney only had the calendar out with no hours :confused3 I should have looked more closely. But like the PP said they are out now.

DH & I haven't been since the early '80's as kids and this will be the first time with our kids, ages 4 & 8. The girls, especially the youngest is a major Princess freak. We have booked POR, standard view and I have done ADR's for Chef Mickey's and Cinderella's Royal Table. That will be a surprise for the kids once we are there! I can't wait and I am hope to learn alot from you 'veterans'!

We are planning our fist trip April 25 - May 2nd. I have never been there before, so I'm excited to see it myself, but more so to see the excitement in the kids! We are staying offsite at Westgate Lakes. Airfare is booked so I'm passing time reading the DIS and making park plans. I can't wait!!!

The best part.............the kids don't know we are going in April!!!! he he he. I can't wait to wake them and tell them that morning we are headed to the airport. They think we are going over the summer as I wanted them to be able to partake in the planning and excitement. :grouphug:

I changed too....twice! When the deal came out we upgraded to WL. Problem is, living in Wisconsin, the WL theming seems pretty everyday to us and we couldn't stop wishing we were at the Poly. So....I spent more money and switched to Poly GVC. Yeah, I said I would never spend the money to stay club level but after breaking down the savings, it would be like getting about $100 off a night staying just GV. I figure we will save a little on groceries too since there is bfst, snacks, and bevs in the lounge.

So....Poly GVC it is! We are SO HAPPY to go back to our favorite resort:love:

We have been twice at end of April/early May and the weather is PERFECT! Highs in the middle 80s to low 90s. Low humidity. One trip, not a drop of rain-all sunshine. Next trip was a few partly cloudy days and it rained overnight once but was otherwise blue skies:thumbsup2

You might want to check the Disney site and see what is available. I am going 4/2-4/10 for DDs band trip (the band is leaving on 4/5) and that is the week before Easter - the resorts were getting a little full. Knowing what is available might help you make a decision.

It is very crowded no matter whether it is the same time as easter or not. One good thing about being the same as easter is that the parks are open longer. Since this year it will be after easter, the parks are not going to be open as long. But it doesn't matter, we have always had a good time. We take advantage of the morning EMH at most of the parks, get there 15 minutes or so before the opening. We get a lot done in that first hour which makes the rest of the day very managable. We also always buy park hoppers, so we can leave the EMH park if it gets too crowded. The weather is always great, especially after getting through our winter. We can't wait to get there and get out of this cold and snow. Just heard the weather, Sunday will be back to highs in the teens. Yuck.

Haven't bought WDW or Seaworld tickets. Can't seem to find many deals so see no rush on that. Post if anyone finds deals. I found a small deal on Seaworld at Southwest.com with Rapids rewards discount but it's pretty small compared to Seaworld site.

I looked at the EMH's and schedules...Most of the time MK closes pretty late as does DHS. And like you said, the early morning EMH's help as do the late ones too. But to me, I don't really mind the crowds so much, just the experience of being there is enough for me.

That is exactly what I had heard too. Space Mountain is closing 4/19 and will not reopen till late 2009.
This is posted on All Ears and was also on here on the Disboards. We are going to be there in early April so DD will get one last ride before the rehab.

That's the other reason why we're going before it closes for refurb...I knew if we waited until June I'd be SAD!!! Space Mountain is a personal favorite of mine--it may not be much of a coaster, but still a classic.

Awwww bummer!! I will definitely miss it. :sad1: Also, the Wedway People Mover (TTA - but, I'll always know it as the WPM) will be closed too, since it goes through SM. I like to do that one just for that reason. I wonder if they're making SM safer as in structural or modifying the ride itself? I swear it was never the same several years ago when they refurbished it. Seemed to be lighter/not as dark and with less drops when they were finished. Maybe it was just me, but I dunno. :confused3

From what I was told they are going to enclose the queue area like it is at Disneyland..and HOPEFULLY make it one track instead of two. I like the one at Disneyland better :) but that's just me.

I am trying to find ways to use all the cool disigns that I have. So far, t-shirts, sweatshirts, a little tote-bag for each of us, and I found the paper to make tattoos so I'm hoping "tinkerbell" will tattoo our kids while they are sleeping with personalized tats!!

For those who haven't caught the bug yet, you should visit the Disign thread. They are magical-pixie-dust-spreading-creative-wonders! You just ask (nicely) and they design you what you want, t-shirts, autograph books, ADR reservations, pressed penny tubes..... and then you just click, save and use it on your own. FREE! They just like to spead the fun magic of Disney! How cool is that!

I unfortunately don't have a clue how to put a link in her so I can give you directions there... GO back to the Disboards main page and scroll all the way down to the Creative Design forum, and go from there. Be prepared to spend some time looking,,, they are awesome!!

Oh, and I have made a goodie bag for each for everyday, hoping that if the kids know they are gettin a fun surprise every night that they won't ask to buy stuff at the parks constantly. I made little tags (from the disigners) that will be on everything so they will think it's from Mickey, Cinderella... even Wall-E is leaving a little gift. Everybody is saying that with spring breaks it will be very busy!! I hope not, but what I really cannot handle is the crowds AND the heat. Every year we go in May and it ends up being 100+ degrees!! YIKES!!

I'm going April 23-27 and my little cousin said grad nite/grad bash is that weekend also. Even thou both events are at night some schools sometimes take the students to a theme park during the day :scared: so it might be crowded.

They say ignorance is bliss, :rolleyes1 so I am going to pretend that there will only be about 20 families there with me, (the ones that have signed up here on the disboards.) Nobody else will be there and it will be unseasonably perfect temperatures and sunny.
So, I will stay in my own little world until I get there, then when we are there I won't care about anything else because, hey, we're in Disney World!!

We are going Apr 23-30. We have been previously during this time frame and crowds were not bad at all. Some days were really nice--they didn't even have fastpasses a few days and had hoods covering the machines. Not that it matters. Really, those kids have free reign over the grad nite park late night and sleep in most of the day. We stayed at CR and Poly on those grad nites and the fireworks in the wee hours woke us up a couple of times because it was at MK. I think it's at DHS this year...right?

Anywho, the weather is beautiful too that time of spring. usually 85-90ish, low humidity, and little if any rain. Just sunshine and blue skies:cool1:

Add me to the list. We are staying at the CBR 4-19 through the 26th. Driving down from NJ.

I haven't been to WDW in 20 years and to be honest, I have no idea where to start...:confused3
I think this trip we are going to use the days to check out what's around and then use that as a guide to battle plan for future trips. :)

It will be me, my Mom, my Mom-mom and the 2 ten year old boys. Should be a fun time if I don't kill anyone...lol just kiddling.

Anybody have any tips about the transportation to and from the parks or the ADR's? I have the dining plan and do not know where to even start.

We are going to be at Disneyland from March 31st, thru April 2nd. We fly in to LA on Monday the 30th in the evening (9:26 pm) and fly out Friday morning early 6:55am) We are staying at the Anaheim Maingate hotel in Fullerton. Has anyone else stayed there? It has a complimentary Disneyland shuttle and is 3 miles from DL. I want to stay at a resort, but couldnt afford it this time! I never have gotten to stay at a resort. It was a choice between going and staying at neighboring hotel or not going so I decided heck... I wanna go to Disneyland and If I have to stay in a tent it is fine with me!!:goodvibes

While you may miss the NJ spring break people, you will be getting the New England Spring break crowds. The third week in April is always spring break for much of New England, so expect lots of people from around here. Although I am a transplant here, I need to go when my kids are out of school, so we will be there.

We are staying at the Poly April 12th-April 18th. It has been about 7 years since the last time we went. That was in July. I thought it was going to be terrible. But it really wasn't. This is our first time we have ever stayed on-site resort. We are so excited!:woohoo: My ten year old does not remember the first time we went. So I really think she will enjoy it! So count us in the crowd that week. :thumbsup2

We are also going in April and are really excited..however, we had to change a few dates and are now calling Disney Dining everyday trying to get new reservations :(
So if it is okay, I wanted to plug a thread that Dis members can go to trade/give up their ADRs if they are thinking of cancelling before they call to actually cancel it. In this way, it gives other Dis members a chance to get a reservation first.

We are looking for reservations for Chef Mickey on April 6 and have not had any luck yet.. so Please check out this thread if you are thinking of canceling a ADR in April:

OK!!! I can't believe by next week I will be in the single digits! :cheer2: I feel like I have been waiting forever. I have to remember to fax my room request to the Poly by April first.
