Hi everyone! Thank goodness the boards are back up! We leave bright and early Sat morning for our 1/20 cruise!!! :D

I had been planning on practically ignoring our Nassau stop, but I am curious about checking out the Atlantis hotel. I think both my lil' ones (3 & 1) would like the aquarium part, but I'm concerned about taking a cab w/out carseats? Any thoughts on this?? How safe is it?? Would it be better to just leave the kiddos on board if we want to check it out?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!!!

Personally, I would not take my 4 year old in a car unrestrained.
Having just been involved in a car accident where I was rear-ended pretty hard with my daughter in the car, I was so glad she was in a car seat! To me it's not worth the risk. I would leave the kids on the ship. But I know a lot of people go on these cruises and let their kids ride unrestrained in these taxis on the islands. They are taking a big risk.

Yah, I feel the same way...

I guess what I meant to ask was, are there any taxis where a carseat would be an option?? Probably not :(

Well, that's ok... I'd rather keep my little angels safe onboard or skip the Atlantis idea if there are no good and *safe* options for transportation.

any other advice is still very welcomed!!!

I had asked this question prior to my first cruise and I don't believe there are any taxis with car seats. If you did bring your own car seats then what do you do with them once you get to your destination?

How about water taxis? Just as dangerous for the little ones, or are they an option? I have an 8 month old and a 6 year old. Thinking about how the family can possibly spend a day at the beach when docked at St. Thomas or St. Martin....

On St. Maarten you can take the water taxi for $5 pp (no chg for children) straight across to the island. As soon as you get off of the island there is a really nice beach - Great Bay Beach. The water taxi is just a big flat bottomed boat. I would imagine that they would provide life jackets for your little one's if you'd request them - but, I did not see any children wearing any.
