Would love to know how many of you have purchased a refillable mug... and if you got your use out of it.

We plan on spending most of our time in the parks and cooking at our campsite... would the mug become just a souvenir?

Souvenirs are great... I just don't want to buy 4 if it will not be used alot

I bought the mugs (3 of us), and I totally thought they were worth it. We would fill them up at least 4-5 times a day. For me, they were definitely worth the money.

Howdy Landryfam! We try to buy one each trip but that's because I have a bad habit of using mine when I'm at home and the picture fades over time (one of these days I'm going to buy one and not use it at home, I think the picture is one of the cutest of the refillable mugs).

I think it's worth it to have as a souvenir, but if you get a couple drinks out of it, too even better!

They are worth every penny!!! You can have all the coffee and soft drinks you want and they are good as long as you own the cup.

Not wishing to stir up the refillable mug controversy, but officially they are only good for the length of your stay. Read the side of your mug.

Coffee and tea only at the Meadows trading post. Coffee tea and softdrinks at TE.

The mugs have fine print!!?! I have never read mine, but have asked each castmember who sold me each mug what the rules are in case they change between trips. Every single one has said good for refills for the life of the mug. So Disney needs to train the snack bar CMs in whatever the rule is so there will be no controversy (because some kids will go to Dad to get the answer they want when Mom tells them no).

My dh and I buy them every year and they are great. We get coffee in the morning, ice tea in the afternoon and i get more coffee in the evening. My husband drinks a lot of the lemonade stuff too. We do get our moneys worth.

I think they are $11.95??

I know there are new ones popping up at various resorts...perhaps at FW as well? Non-resort specific YOAMD mugs.

When we were last at the Fort there was a sign at TE about mugs being good for the duration of our visit.

We have five in the family - get two mugs - one for my morning hot tea, one for cold drinks. They're good for camping so they stay in the 5th wheel on a permanent basis.

I'd say we get our money's worth. :)

We just got back from the "world" on Saturday. It appears that the resorts..and campground are using a generic mug..that has the year(07) on it.
Too bad..I liked the individual resort mugs better.

NOOOOOOO! Say it ain't so! I hope that's a temporary thing!

Anyway, I asked my kids about signs where you buy the mugs (they remember more details like that than I do) and they said there's a sign at the meadow trading post that says 'good for length of your stay' but they don't remember seeing one at Trail's end.

I was in the Meadow Trading Post and they were selling the same mug that what was being sold at the WL. Generic with the 07 on it. I know at the WL people were still using their old WL mugs(with the Lodge logo on it)...for that matter I saw someone with an All Star mug. I don't think they really care one way or the other. I know I forgot to bring my old mugs, and we purchased a couple of new ones. Don't like them half as much as the mugs made for each individual resort.

I'm not sure what they are at Trail's End or the Trading Posts, but at the Chuckwagon, they're $1.59 for coffee and $1.50 for soda. Maybe it's about the same at the other places?

I did not get a refillable mug when we were there. But I saw folks using the old mugs and also the new blue and white gernic one. We were in the 700 loop close to Medows and Trails End, but I went to Walmart and got a case of 16 oz Cokes in bottles, hubby prefers to make his own coffee. I guess we were lucky the Ice Machine would give us an over full bag of Ice for $2. I spent about $4 in ice, $6 on cokes for the 8 days and did not have to walk to fill the 12 oz cup (we did enough walking in the parks).

I was told that you had to purchase the mug at trails end and it could be used at the other places.

That's when we were there last and they had a small one there & the gal at the register (who was not having a good day....) made sure she let me know that this was only good during this stay at Fort Wilderness:confused3 . I think she was actually having a bad week, come to think of it...perhaps it was all the cinnamon rolls my family constantly came in for?;)

Quick update on the info here:

They are giving the generic 2007 blue and white mugs for the current celebration.

DD was upset because she wanted the normal Ft. Wilderness mugs...(I actually think she forgot to ask for that specific ones because they were selling those at the pool).

You can get hot chocolate, coffee and tea at the meadows trading post and at the trails end. At the meadows you have to ask for the hot chocolate mix and ask for 2 packs. One makes it too watered down (according to DD).

Of course you can get free coke, sprite..etc..refills at the pool.

I was talking to one of the CM managers that was there and they said that the only restriction that they even TRY to follow is resort specific mugs. The CM also explained that some CM's will try to encourage that it is the length of your stay, but only if you ask...(told to me with a chuckle)...

As far as the blue and white mugs, the CM was not even sure if they would restrict those once the celebration was over.

We have a cabinet full of mugs...FW and others...and wish that they would start selling stickers so you can reuse your mug.

We (ok...my wife) are very much for obeying the fine print, but, at this rate, we will have a house full of mugs!

I'd be happy to reuse my old mug and pay for the drinks.

I know they have the sticker system at the water parks, why not the other resorts?

We bought 2 mugs this week. I filled mine with coffee each morning and soda a couple of times each night. My DH filled his with Coke in the morning and several times in the evening. Once, he even filled his 3 times at once to give our DD's something to drink at the pool. We definitely got our money worth!!pirate:

A bit of a different slant on the refillable mugs issue. Does anyone know if you are allowed to use the mug while eating at Trails End? I seem to recall a CM telling me that this was not allowed. Not sure though. Anyone with experience on this?

Officially, no. The servers are not supposed to fill them for you while you're eating in the dining room. But, we usually fill ours at the counter before we go to sit down to eat. We have had some servers refill them for us, and some say they wouldn't fill them.

I would say it depends on the servers. We have some that filled it while eating there and we have had some that set the coffee pot in front of us and let us fill it.

We have never been told that we could not use it while eating.

(This has only been during breakfast hours)

Reading the fine print hidden under the handle of our AKL mugs:
Free refills till the end of your stay.
Refills only at location purchased.

There is NO way a person who needs glasses to read would or could even see this never mind read it!

No matter what our personal opinions are people will do what they feel they want to do. There is no sense in debating this as it only causes trouble:thumbsup2

I completely agree. If Disney thought this was breaking them they would do something about it. Some people on this forum act like this is costing them personally. The way I see it is this. How many people buy these mugs that only come back ocassionally. I bought one in March and I've used it in June. When I go in July I will use it again and so forth and so on until Disney says no more. Somebody get a life and quit worrying about the mugs.

$12 for a mug, that costs .20 plus syrup (that I heard is given to Disney by Coke), I don't think Disney is taking that much of a beating. Plus, when you think of it, the average Joe isn't there 3-5x a year like some of the people in this forum are.
