For my dates - July 29 and August 5 just took a $61 per RT ticket drop! Total air for 4 of us $555.20.

Not bad for Sundays, huh?

I really need to convince myself that I'm never going to find a fare that's cheeper than driving with four people, even at $4 a gallon! Sadly, my skull is rather thick. :rotfl:

If we didn't need a rental car (we do, staying in my folks condo in Kissimmee) I could convince myself of it. But when you add $350-$400 in rental car on top of even the cheapest fares... suddenly driving makes sense. :/

This wasn't a Ding! It is an "Internet Special." I did not get an email or anything about it. I just was on the website checking (for the 4th time today  ) when I saw the rate.

So be sure to check your dates. :)

It occurred to me this afternoon that I should take advantage of the Promotional fares that were $49 from PHL to MCO. I saw there was available seats on the 9am flight, but since I didn't have my notes with me I wasn't sure if I could swing it today or if I'd have to put it off a little while longer. I had planned on waiting for DING based on last year's history.

I got online at home a little while ago and plugged in are departure date and the 9:00 flight is no longer available (except for one seat). I selected a later flight figuring I could change it out later if the earlier flight opens up. Worst case, we arrive a bit later in the day...in any case "WE'RE GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!" Now I've got to hope there's another special on return flights. They are sold out of the promo fares except one with a stop at RDU that will take twice as long as the non-stop.

Now that I got this great rate out of PII, can anyone a good hotel for the night before? We live in Ohio about 2 hrs out of Pit, so for us to get our 7;45am flight to MCO, it is easier to stay the previous night and take the shuttle to the airport. It is usually about even money since then we don't pay for parking at the airport. Last time I flew out of Pit, I think we stayed at Crown Plaza??
Thanks!

There is a LaQuinta near the old airport that is nice and really reasonable. They have a free shuttle to the airport and I believe that you can leave your vehicle there for the week. If you can't leave your vehicle there, then there is a great long term parking place (Globe) right across the street that also has a free shuttle to and from the airport.

I am so glad that so many people were able to take advantage of these great rates! :) Even my friend was able to get a great price for visiting her Dad in Port Canaveral in July.

And IntenseBlue, here's a big dose of pixiedust: that you get a good price for your return flight. I won't promise you, but it seems that if you are patient, you can eventually get a good price.

Me too! Its about a 20 hour drive from Houston. Add that with 4 boys and it just equals a very, very long trip!

I love hopping on a plane and being there in a couple of hours :thumbsup2

Do you fly out of BWI? We changed our dates to get the low SW rates of $49 each way. It had to be Tues/Weds travel, so we are going 9/11-9/18.

Found our Oct flights from Indy to DW for $75 each way.

Also found $99 each way to Orange County CA in July!

Thanks OP.

yes we're BWI but we're pinned to dates because of school schedules and such....

Kids have off Friday...but i have to be home Monday...

This is just a quick mommy/dd trip for me,dd, my friend from work, and her dd who is the same age as mine.

I'm thinking we'll get down to $49 once Dings are released....

Gosh, you guys are lucky. We are in a market that we never, ever pay less than $350 per person:sad1: Usually it is around the $400 mark:scared1:

goofyforlife- Same situation here...we're going Labor Day Weekend, Fri. after school through Mon. and I was contemplating whether or not to wait out a further price drop. This flight was booked on previous credits that run out on 9/11 so another price drop won't do me any good, especially if the flights I need aren't available. I decided to be happy to get the flights I needed for $10 off each way for 4 now...I just used my $80 credit for a flight in Nov.

Not my return flight, still waiting on that... BUT, I was able to change our itinerary to the earlier flight that I wanted! We're now flying out at 9am instead of 1:20pm. :woohoo: Now I no longer need to stress about arriving in time to pick up our rental car at the Double Tree in DTD.

I have to tell you all about what happened to me today. I was making up an itinerary for the trip and I was going to put in flight information.

So I looked at my confirmation email to get the flight numbers and when I looked at it, it said :Departing Wed. Jul 25 at 7:45. Wednesday!?! :scared1: July 25!?! :scared1: It was supposed to be SUNDAY the 29th!!! I had planned a trip that was supposed to start on July 25 and end on August 1, but our youngest DD found out that her swim champs were on July 28. So I played around with our dates and came up with July 29-August 5. I guess when I put the dates in for our flights, I was still in the other date mode.

So I went on SW's website to see if there were seats available for $59 for Sunday. I was soooooo lucky because there was availability for the 4 of us for exactly the same time. And I could not believe how easy it was to change the dates on SW's site. Had it been just about any other airline, we would have been paying $100 per ticket to make a change.

So hooray for Southwest! They are "the bomb!" :thumbsup2

Since they're the only major airline which doesn't have to worry about demoralized and moody employees a la the six 'legacy carriers' (United/Northwest/Continental/Delta/America West-US Airways/American), and they also have the best frequent flyer plan of anybody, combined all of that with their usual sky-high scores for customer service and you can see why they've carried more folks within the US several times this year (monthly basis) than ANY other airline.

Congratulations Beth--I'm really happy for you!!!
