i gained 5lbs about 5/6 months ago. was at goal weight. joined a new gym in october. now doing yoga, pilates, kickboxing, instructors choice class, weight training, treadmill, cardio/step, buts & guts classes.
thinking my weight gain may be from the workouts and not necessarily from what im eating
think it may be time to put away the scale and make sure my clothes keep fitting/feeling roomy
anyone else put the scale away because they gained and think it may be muscle?

I prefer NOT to monitor my progress on the scale. Instead, I rely on different indicators:
1) how my clothes fit,
2) how healthy and energetic I feel,
3) what the doctor has to say about my blood pressure and cholesterol and 4) my ability to achieve more in my exercise (run longer, lift more weight, do more reps etc).
According to my scale, my weight has remained constant in spite of my efforts! If I focus on the numbers alone, it would be quite de-motivating to say the least.
Best of luck with your fitness program!

I am a scale slave, I weigh every morning. I like to keep it all in check and feel better if I weigh daily. I know you aren't supposed to, but I am addicted.

The scale keeps me on track. I weigh once a week, don't have a scale at home, use the scale at the gym. I fear I would gain too much before I realize what I have done:(

I really dislike using the scale number as the sole indicator! That's my biggest (maybe ONLY) complaint about the WW system.
So - I'm a combo - I do weigh in every morning. After a while I started to notice a pattern in my natural weight fluctuations, so a pound or so in either direction is no biggie to me. I also have my measurements taken and body fat analysis done at the gym so I can determine whether or not I really am where I should be.

I sort of think use of indicators vs. scale may depend on where you are in your efforts AND what your overall goal is.
For me ... I'm getting started and have quite a bit of weight to loose. So, the scale is helping keep me motivated and on track. However, since part of my effort is about improving my overall physical condition, I am paying attention to how much better I'm starting to feel as well.
Eventually, if I make my goal, I know that the fit of my clothes will help me "watch" my weight. Now, however, the 9 lbs I've lost so far haven't made much difference in my clothes. HOWEVER, KNOWING that I've done that well so far by virtue of the scale is making me feel good about my efforts and encouraging me to stay the course.

Me too!! I have found that when I don't weigh regularly I don't stay on track as well. I can talk myself into thinking I am doing better than I am:rotfl:
