I heard from Linda the other day, and let her know about the meet, but she wasn't sure if she could make it. At this point, I'm not sure if we're going to make it either.:( They've chosen that morning for the Church parade for our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, and since DS is a Scout, DH is a Scout Leader, and I'm a Beaver leader, we'll have to see.

I might be able to make it after all!! There is a job fair for the private schools on Saturday, and I just booked my train ticket so I could go to it. I had planned to come back on Sunday, but the train is full so I can't come back till Monday. I will still be in Toronto on the day of the meet!!! I will talk to my friend and see if he will take me to the meeting spot!

We've been looking forward to this meet since our return from WDW in early Jan. and now we find out the Olympic hockey final is the same day. If Canada doesn't make it that far we'll make the meet but if we're in the final, who knows. DW says she'll go alone but I dont know. Where do my loyalties lie? Canadian hockey or the American mouse? Its a tossup. Maybe we can do both depending on the time of the game.

Sorry I haven't checked in in a while! I was in BC until the end of December... and DISCON before that... I still don't think I have caught up! I also ended up going back to Disney for the first two weeks of February. There is much craziness here and John is in B.C.

I don't think I can make it but if anything changes I know where you are. I would be very interested in a Canadas Wonderland meet, I think Katholyn (nativetxn) and Karen (KarenNY)might be also.

FROM HAMILTON:

QEW Eastbound to 403 Eastbound.

403 Eastbound to Winston Churchilll Blvd.

Go north on Winston Churchill Blvd. (you'll on Winston Churchill Blvd. about 10 minutes, several lights, but it goes fast) until you get to the 401.

Get onto the 401 eastbound.

The SHELL INFO CENTRE is less than 1 km from when you get on the 401. Basically, you will get on the 401 and off in about 40 seconds. The SHELL INFO CENTRE is on the right.

We will be in the upstairs seating area. There is a Tim Hortons and Wendys.

From Skyway Bridge area, and if you have normal traffic, it should take about 30-45 minutes depends on Sunday traffic and lights. (We make it to Ancaster in 45 minutes from this area).

I'll give you all directions to Krispy Kreme during the DISmeet. It open on a Monday to 4 hour lines and police directing traffic. On the first Friday of openning, Evan feel asleep in the car, and I happen to drive by. The drive thru didn't look so bad, still 4 hour lines to walk in. So I got in the drive thru and 25 minutes later I had 4 dozen donuts! I guess you can get them per dozen, the board I read from showed 2 dozen for $10.95 (there abouts), I got one dozen plain yummy grazed and the other dozen was assorted. I brought them to school, what a BIG hit! They Principal made an annoucements, thanked me at an assembly and wrote a thank you note in the school newsletter, they are good. If you are in Mississauga, it's worth the trip. THEY FREEZE EXTREMELY WELL TOO! Sandra

DIRECTIONS: Shell Info Centre (rest stop)

Here is a map from MAPQUEST, I hope it's not too confusing. It's very easy to get to from 401 EAST. SHELL INFO CENTRE is the first REST STOP after Winston Churchill Blvd (exit 333), less than one km from exit 333 from HWY 401 EASTBOUND on the right.

Coming the 401 WESTBOUND is a bit more tricky. There isn't an exit from westbound so you'll have to take exit 333 Winston Churchill cut off, drive over the overpass to get back onto 401 EASTBOUND then exit right away to SHELL INFO CENTRE.

I posted directions from 403 in an early post. From QEW is same as 403 directions but add about 10 minutes drive up Winston Churchill Blvd.

We will meet at 11am (Kathy 11:30am-ish) UPSTAIRS Feb 24, Sunday. There is an elevator and stairs. You can get yourself something from Tim Horton's or Wendy's. Both are on the first floor. The upstairs is usually empty, sometimes a couple families are there, but always lots of seats! I'll get there at 10:30am to save tables! It's nothing special, just a rest stop, but it has a nice view of a forest in the back. The Krispy Kreme is about 10-15 drive and there is a Walmart on Winston Churchill and the 401. Square One has the closest DISNEY STORE and that's about 20 minute drive. CHAT SOON! Sandra

Hi Sandra! Mickey65 (Valerie) is in Toronto right now, so she won't see this list to reply to it. She is really looking forward to being there tomorrow. I think that she's getting a friend of hers to drive her to the meet.
At one point, Canadave had said that they were going to try and get there too, but I don't know if he's still planning on it. If they do, there's 4 of them.
We're still planning on being there, but we will be late. Hopefully we'll be there by 11.30, so I hope that everyone is still there when we get there.

We all enjoyed the meet! I wish I could have stayed longer but my timing was good as I did stop at Krispy Kreme and got 3 dozen doughnuts!!! I went through the drive-thru. it looked long but only took 15 minutes, I agree disneyvacationmom the line up outside was nuts. I was so happy they took debit cards. I bought a dozen for my brothers family for the hockey game(how Canadian eh!), a dozen for my husbands office and a dozen for us. Lets just say we hakve lots of sprinles in the car. I think that was the highlight of the meet for the two DS. It was so nice to meet everyone, I loved all the pictures but forgot to ask timand dans mom how she got such great night shots of the castle and fireworks??? let us know your secret. Made it back just in time to go to the arena for skating. Too funnny, not too many Dads there this afternoon! But the figure skating coaches had a tv on the bench and kept giving us updates in the stands, made it home intime to see the last 3 mintues.YEAH CANADA!

I made it home just after the start of the second period of the game. I had stopped in at DH's work to give him a KK Donut (he works in Guelph and had gone in to catch up on some work). It was a zoo at the KK store, but I decided to park my car and go and stand in the line. Actually it wasn't that bad and we were given free, "hot off the press" donuts while we waited! Baboo and her family joined me in the line-up, they couldn't resist either! I was planning on 6-12 donuts and bought 2 dozen! :D

Many thanks to Baboo for starting the ball rolling for the DIS meet, and to Sandra for organizing everything! It was a fun day and the Shell Info Centre was perfect~just one hour's drive for me. It was nice to see everyone again and meet MichelleTO and disneyvacationmom. To those who couldn't make this meet, I hope you will be able to come to the next one. We really are a nice group of people. :)

Michelle, I assume you're not referring to the REALLY good one of the castle and fireworks, which is the postcard. The others, I took with my trusty Pentax autofocus camera that I've had for 17 years. It was just a stoke of luck, but they did turn out well, didn't they! Also, I don't whether it helped, but I used the flash.

LOL Kathy ~ the next one! I was thinking the same thing. I like how we did it today with a more relaxed "coffee/lunch" meet. If we did it like that again, we could have several meets! I still like the idea of meeting at the Square One food court on a Sunday. The Tim Hortons opens at 11:30am, the rest of the mall opens at noon. It's not too busy first thing on Sundays either. HHHHHHHHuuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmm?!?!?!?!?!?

Paramount Canada's Wonderland late August will be great too!
