Hi Vanessa! I was talking to people at work about how my Tae Kwon Do tournament my be in Detroit next summer and one of them mentioned Frankenmuth. It took me a second to remember where I had heard about it, and then I remember it was from you. I don't think anyone at work knows about my DIS obsession, so I didn't bother to fill them in with the details. I just thought is was very random that in a Philadephia suburb I hear about a place I had only heard about online before.
It really is a small world! I've learned so many random things from people on the Dis :disrocks: FYI about 10 minutes from Frankenmuth in Birch Run is the second largest outlet mall in the country if you ever make your way up this way.

I've had some drama on the bridal party front. My one bridesmaid called on Sunday and said that she had lost her job and wouldn't be able to be in the wedding. I wasn't mad because I knew that the circumstances were beyond her control and I knew that she had been having a lot of problems at her job and was unhappy since she was transferred earlier this year. The bad thing is that we've been friends since middle school and I would miss having her at the wedding, but like I told her sometimes "Life just happens."
We are down to the wire for ordering the dresses so this put me in a tight position. We already have 5 guys compared to 4 girls (the last groomsman- Kris' cousin, is walking his mom to her seat.) I had to get a replacement ASAP. I have another close friend who is coming to the wedding, but there is a catch. Her and the other bridesmaid had a falling out on a trip that we all went on to New York in 2006.
So, I drove over to the other bridesmaid's house that day to talk to her about it. Anyway, she said that she wouldn't have a problem with it so I went ahead with calling Amanda (my other friend) to ask her to be in the wedding.
She helped me with my veil earlier this summer and helped with the embroidery on the welcome bags, etc. Anyway, I told her that from the beginning we were limited on how many people we could have in the wedding so we weren't able to have all of our close friends as involved as we might have wanted and now that Nicole could no longer be in it I would be honored to have her as a part of the wedding. She said yes! :cheer: She went to order her dress the very next morning :cheer:
Now that I was on a roll with weddingish.com I ordered her one too :goodvibes

Also, I'm considering this dress for the flower girl. It is available in a soft yellow which would complete the pastel ensemble (lilac, pink, seafoam green, light blue from the bridesmaids). What does everyone think?

I forgot to tell you. I had to retrieve some of my boxes from my grandparents house (they are threatening to trash things if we don't start taking them) and in one of the boxes you'll never guess what I found....
A Figment piggy bank!
It say "EPCOT Center" on it even! It must be from my very first trip way back when!

I'll try to post a picture of it later. I remember that trip, and some of the event, but the thing I remember most is Figment. I can barely remember visiting the Magic Kingdom. We did Sea World, MK and Epcot during the week, and all I remember is Figment and Shamu (the whale was still a baby then). That piggy bank is so scrapbook-worthy!

The good news is that my dress fit perfectly! I really only need to have a bustle done. I took it home since the shop I bought it from is over an hour away. They charge a flat rate for alterations anyway, so I know it would cost me more in the long run from them. I have a great seamstress who does all my alterations that just retired from working with several bridal shops last year, so I'm going to have her do the bustle. She now runs a small sewing business on the side out of her house and she's really reasonable. She is an avid hunter, so I will have to wait until deer season ends since she will be in and out over the next few weeks.
I was worried about the color of the dress. It only came in ivory or white. In my family it's a big controversy if you wear ivory, so that was out. I was hoping for a diamond white, but this style didn't come in that color. Thankfully, all the beading on top kept me from looking washed out. You'll see in the closer shots that I share, the white isn't too bad.
The dress was kind of heavy and hurt my back after being in it for only 20 minutes. My MOH is also a physical therapist and she said to tell my therapist that my goal is to be able to haul around Xpounds (no idea the actual weight) from my dress and they'll help me work towards that by the wedding.
I still need to take a couple of pictures of the back. It originally had a lace-up ribbon, corset style, but I had them switch it to a regular zipper. I didn't want the hassle of someone having to string the corset at 7 am! They adjusted the straps on the back so they come in more at an angle. I was worried because it looked funny on the hangar, but when I put it on the change was really cute!
I'm not sure if you can see, but I have on the Swarovski Cinderella bracelet and I'm hold the tiara in one of the pictures. I'm also ordering a teardrop necklace and earrings that match that style from the Swarovski web site this weekend. I have the Cinderella necklace, but it doesn't go very well with my neckline.

I was lucky enough to get the set through one of the outlets during the Memorial Day sale. I only paid around $30 for the necklace, so I decided to hold on to the whole set. I figured even if I don't wear it for the wedding it will be nice to have all the pieces to pass down.
Here's the necklace that I'm thinking about getting. I wish there was a closer shot, but I saw it when I was at DTD in September at the Arribas Brothers store.
http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x62/vcf81/Dress/Necklace.jpg
It hangs down into the V-neck on the dress, but not too low. The clear beading picks up off of the dress and the tear-drop matches the tiara. It is also by Swarovski.

Here are a couple pictures of the back that I uploaded yesterday before leaving home. My veil hits right below the V-point in the beading. I told my mom seeing the dress on is incentive to keep working out because I don't want any extra cushioning rolling over the top in the back :rotfl::

Hi again!
I just found out the tournament will be at the Detroit Marriott. Awesome for me since we should be able to get a family discount. DBF's dad works at the Marriott. I'm excited about traveling. I've only been to Michigan once (not counting the 5 hour layover there last year). A friend from college is from Tawas (sp?). I just remember the long, straight roads near her. Now I just have to see if I'll be a black belt then or if I will still be a red belt.

Just wanted to let everyone know Kris' dad passed away this week. It was a massive heart attack and was completely unexpected. Kris is an only child and his dad wasn't married, so it was a lot to deal with everything. The hardest thing is that he won't be there for the wedding. Kris and his dad weren't the closest and the wedding was something that had really brought them together. During the visitation yesterday we had so many people that Kris didn't know who came up and knew all about our wedding from his dad talking about it all the time. Over the next couple of months we have to think of some way to remember his dad at the wedding.

Wow - I am so sorry to hear of your loss. My DF's father passed away this year as well. He had cancer and lost his battle in April. It was so hard for DF to deal with the fact that he won't be at the wedding.
To honor his memory and keep him a part of our wedding, we are having the guys (3 of 5 are DF's brothers) wear their father's favorite flower (which is what he wore on his wedding day) as a boutinere. So the boys will all be wearing stefanotis flowers with a rose. I wonder if you can do something like that.
We are also having a memory candle lit for our whole ceremony for DF's father as well as my sister and the other people that we have lost (its been way too many for us being so young).
Oh, another idea - for my sister who passed away in 2004 my girls are all wearing yellow in memory of her because her nickname was "sunshine".
Again - you and your DF are in my thoughts.

Hiya!
I've just spent the last hour or so reading through your PJ and was really saddened to read your latest entry... Thoughts for your DF, yourself and your family. My FFIL died this past March from a massive heart attack and I too have been thinking of various ways to have him remembered at our wedding. My DF is the last of his 7 children to get married and its the one wedding he won't physically be at, but will be with us in our hearts. He would have been so pleased with our news about getting married as he was forever telling me how thrilled he was that Mark had finally settled down. I'm thinking of having him mentioned during our unity ceremony when we are lighting our candles, and also having a vacant chair for him next to DF's mum with a single rose and a name place card on the chair. We really would have loved to have 'left a legacy' at EPCOT for him whilst we are there, but alas that is no more
Huge hugs and positive thoughts to you all at the very sad time

These are some really great ideas, this gives me some great starting points as we start to decide what we want to do at the wedding. Thankfully for Kris' family this was the first person in 31 years to pass away on their side; unfortunately in my family (like yourself) I too have had a large number of losses so I completely understand what you have gone through.
We are already having empty chairs in the front row with flowers for our grandparents (we only each have one left) so maybe we can incoporate his dad into this too only using a different flower to distinguish his seat.

Thank you Christina :grouphug: As you know from your experience nothing quite makes up for their absence and I know that deciding on a way to honor his father is going to be one of the most difficult decisions of the planning process. I ordered my invitations last week. Yes, I know this should have been months ago, but I had yet another problem with a vendor creating my invites. I had been working with Jennifer from Sassy Designs who came highly recommended. We started in July working on a custom invitation that used some of our Disney engagement pictures along with some Disney touches.
Anyway, after 3 months of working on things she emailed me in November telling me that she was overwhelmed after their birth of her son earlier this summer and that she was sorry but she couldn't do my invitations anymore. I was shocked, I wish she would have told been more honest 3 months earlier
So, I thought maybe I could have a local printer follow a similar design to what I wanted, however after talking to a few people I wasn't too pleased, so I ended up ordering from the Image Gallery through Rexcraft. The main color we have for the background and text is called azure. http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x62/vcf81/Wedding%20Purchases/Azure.gif

They should actually be here by the end of this week. I guess we'll be addressing invitations over Christmas :santa:
We are sending them out right after the holiday and will give our guests a month to respond. Almost everyone has their reservations already, so even though we're cutting our Disney deadline close we should still be okay.
I included a reception card that has the details about the dessert party on it. I am going to make a separate card that outlines the rest of the wedding weekend activities- the Welcome Party, Bridal Tea, etc. What did everyone include this type of information in- was it sent along with your invitation? I'm thinking about sending a separate postcard with this information... any opinions?

A lot of girls have made newsletters and included everything on it. I'm sending out a separate invitation for my rehearsal dinner (because not everyone is invited). For the welcome party and bridal luncheon i'm using good ole word of mouth :)

That's a good idea about the separate invitation for the rehearsal dinner because we're also not inviting everyone. I never even thought of doing something for that; I'm glad you metioned it :goodvibes I have been doing newsletters (three so far) but I'm afraid some details might get lost since I don't think people are reading all of them. I just read your entire planning journal! I'm not exactly sure why I ventured over to this board as I'm alread married, but I did.
First off I am so sorry for your lose. DH's mother was killed when he was a young child. When we married last year, we had a special flower arrangement on our table made of her favorite flowers to remember her by. We also had a slide show of us growing up and in the end we had a picture of her and it let everyone know that the flowers on our table were for her. Your DH may also want to carry something in his pocket of his father's or maybe wear cuff links that belonged to his father. A number of things can be done to honor and remember him by.
Good Luck!

There have been several things which are starting to come together, so I thought I better catch everyone up. Besides being busy with Christmas we still had to take care of some stuff for Kris' dad plus we starting shopping for a condo! We were going to original rent a loft apartment in our downtown area which is really cool, but since the house market is so bad in Michigan we are thinking about buying something instead. We have looked at some really great condos that are a real steal. Unfortunately, the bad economic times which have hit a lot of families hard are going to be a big help for us to get a great deal.
Our invitations came in right before Christmas too. Here are some pictures:

I’m not sure if I mentioned this before, but my mom wanted to learn how to do calligraphy to address the invitations. We signed her up for classes at JoAnn Fabrics, but they have been cancelled several times in the last six months and she hasn’t been able to take one yet. My mom’s best friend’s daughter, Emily, who is one of my hostesses was up visiting from Indiana and guess what? We found out that she knows how to do calligraphy! She did all the invitations for me before she left to go home. I am so thankful that she is willing to help. I had bought a calligraphy set and was going to see what I could learn while I’m off work until New Year’s, but thankfully I didn’t have to worry about it. :cool1:
Now, I'm just waiting for my stamps that I ordered from Zazzle. According to the tracking they will be here by tomorrow.

I love the personalised invites!
I just went to check out zazzle.com, that is so cool that you can get personalised stamps - I wonder if there is any UK site that does this? You have thought of so many little details, I want to be that organised! I'm definitely going to try and investigate the stamp thing further......
I love your Christmas outfit you're wearing where you're opening your invites!!

I actually took my entire invitations with all the inserts to the post office and had them weigh it for me. I ended up needing the 58 cent ones, but I think it depends on your individual invitation.

Thanks, I was actually all decked out because I was volunteering that day with the Salvation Army which does toy distribution for needy families in the area. I was helping parents pick out toys for their kids, so I was all decked out :santa: I'm just hoping my guests recognize all the little details. I also ran to the post office late last night to get the December 31, 2007 postmark on the invitations, we'll see if anyone notices!

I thought I would give some additional updates of what I was able to accomplish while I was off over the holiday. Besides completing and sending out the invitations, I was productive on a number of other fronts. First, we got the labels printed off and attached to all of our welcome bags; I also finished all of our place cards; worked on another newsletter; and got pictures assembled for our display board at the wedding.
I bought a really cute display for weddings that folds up at Hallmark. The box was a little damaged so they gave it to me for half off. I had wanted it for a while, but didn't want to spend $35 on it. We are still waiting for a couple of pictures from when Kris was younger to finish off the display then I will post pictures.
First, the place cards- I was able to get my bridesmaid, Patriece, to come over this past weekend to help me glue on the rest of the jewels for the Mickey heads and to print off all the names. I only had 10 out of 65 assembled, so she was a great help. We decided to wait to slide the names in because I still haven’t done the seating chart yet, so I figured it would be easier to put them together when I was attaching their table names to the back. I was going to have the names done in calligraphy, but after the fiasco with that I decided to use the Waltograph font.
For the actual table name I am going to print them off on clear return address labels that can be affixed to the back of the place cards. The labels will have the name of the move- Peter Pan, Cinderella, etc. and a small graphic. I am just naming them after the movies that way it will be easy for people to find their seats. I thought about naming them after songs for the movies, but thought that might get too complicated.

I bought the place cards at the dollar store with 6 to a pack and spent about $10 on other miscellaneous supplies, so I have only about $20 into everything.
Here are the stamps from Zazzle that went on the invitations. In the picture we're sitting in front of the American Adventure where our ceremony will take place. I have a better close-up that I will upload tonight:

All the invitations before we mailed them out:
http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x62/vcf81/Invitations/Christmas07108.jpg
I have only one page left to finish on my 5 page newsletter, so hopefully I can get that posted soon too. Also, last night I put together my invitations to mail to Mickey and Minne at the California address :mickeyjum and one to send to the President. I printed off the addresses a long time ago and almost forgot about mailing them!
I also don't know if I mentioned it or not, but Kris and I started private dance lessons while he was up over Christmas. I left the song up to Kris, I figured I would make him do something for the wedding ;)
He ended up picking out this song by Barry White of all people. We are actually dancing to a slower version that is sung by a female vocalist. It still is a little fast, but we're learning faster paced steps like the Fox Trot.
The song is You're the First, the Last, My Everything:rockband::
We got it together, didn't we?
Nobody but you and me.
We got it together, baby.
My first, my last, my everything,
And the answer to all my dreams.
You're my sun, my moon, my guiding star.
My kind of wonderful, that's what you are.
I know there's only, only one like you
There's no way they could have made two.
You're, you're all I'm living for
Your love I'll keep for evermore.
You're the first, my last, my everything.
In you I've found so many things,
A love so new, only you could bring.
Can't you see if you,
You'll make me feel this way,
You're like a first morning dew on a brand new day.
I see so many ways that I can love you,
'Till the day I die....
You're my reality, yet I'm lost in a dream.
You're my first, my last, my everything.
[instrumental]
I know there's only one, only one like you
There's no way they could have made two.
Girl, you're my reality.
But I'm lost in a dream,
You're the first, you're the last, my everything.

It was funny because I had never heard it before until Kris picked it. :cool1: I actually sent him a bunch of lists from the Knot that listed top wedding songs and it was on there. The dance lessons have been fun. It's not too terribly expensive either- we pay $40 for each 1 hour lesson.

As you can see I made some group reservations at restaurants for that week and I'm hoping to get people to join us at all of them. :mickeybar I've already had several replies and a couple of the meals of filled up. The reservations were all for between 18-25 people.
I'm hoping I have spelled out everything for people to make it as easy as possible for them. I still have a ton of people that haven't made their reservations yet which makes me nervous. Our block is only until February 2. Kris' mom hasn't even done her room yet and only one member of our bridal party has her reservations :scared:
I have at least received several RSVPs from the invites only 4 so far our of the 45 that went out

I have you tried calling Group Reservations directly? What they did for me was for some of the slots we have two separate reservations- for example, one might be for 10 people and the other for 8 people. They then told me to arrive a little early at the restaurant to see if they could at least seat us close together. I don't have the Group Reservations number with me, but I could post it this weekend if you need it. For the morning after your wedding check with your coordinator. My planner's assistant made the contact for me at 1900 Park Fare for our post-wedding brunch. Good luck :goodvibes

Thanks, Caryn! I've had to make sure that I spend extra time on them because my family knows that in my work :surfweb: I know how to do layout for brochures, etc. so I have to keep up my professional reputation ;)
I tried to plan a lot of the reservations and activities since we have a lot of Disney newbies coming down for the wedding. I think I'm going to have to put someone else in charge of my cellphone while we're there though because I think everyone will expect me to be their personal tourguide!

This past weekend was insanely busy; we looked at additional condos to buy, took care of our marriage license, got the tuxes, and had a second dance lesson :dance3:
We just went with Men's Warehouse and Kris and I will pick them up on Friday before the wedding. Here I am on the phone calling the huge printout of Florida stores to find the one closest to Disney, I started with anything that had a 407 area code ;)

Here is the inside of the kits; the bandaids are Disney that I got in a huge box at Sam's Club and there's a small picture of the matchbox sewing kits we bought too:

I actually bought them from Target last year. They had them in the dollar bins and then I got some marked down 75% and the rest at 90%, so that was the only way I could afford them for 25 cents and 10 cents. Sorry I couldn't be more help for you :upsidedow

I know I went back and forth about sunblock too because of the cost; I loved the Disney sunblock that was out last year. I got the trial ones marked down at Walmart for $1. I actually didn't get them for everyone, I think half of the people will get them.

Hi Linda,
There isn't too much written on the cards; I couldn't think of anything too creative to add :upsidedow ~
Here are some things to make your stay more enjoyable:
• Sanitizer as a reminder of Vanessa’s obsession with cleanliness.
• Wipes to remove the spots from the great food you’ll be eating.
• A sewing kit for those unexpected repairs.
There's a joke with my family and friends because I carry hand sanitizer with me all the time :goodvibes

I can't believe it either! Today I went with my grandma while she shopped for her dress for the wedding and my aunt asked me if it was setting in that I'm getting ready to make such a major life change and the funny thing is that it doesn't seem any different. Maybe the preparations have kept me so busy reality hasn't set in for me yet :rotfl:

Greetings figmentfan! I have to admit that I've been reading your planning journal for the last couple of months and you've done an awesome job. I love all your organized newsletters and plans. It will be such an incredible day for the both of you!
For our wedding, we are using the same places as you AAR for the ceremony and Living Seas for the reception! :goodvibes We weren't able to use it for the reception (small guest count) but was super excited to learn that we could use it for the ceremony!
I have a quick question, if you don't mind, regarding centerpieces. You were allowed to bring in your own centerpieces to the LS, right? If so, did Disney give you any trouble? The reason I'm asking is because we are interested in making our own and the contract says that it is not allowed. :confused3
Anyway, I can't wait to read more and hear all about your wedding ~ congratulations!

Thank you for all your compliments :goodvibes I'm hoping things turn out as planned.
We were actually going to use the American Adventure Parlor for our reception, but we had the opposite problem that you had with the rotunda, we outgrew it ;)
The technicality on the centerpieces is that we are only bringing in the snowglobes and Disney Floral is providing glass blocks to set them on, candles for the tables, flower petals and ivy to sprinkle around the edges. I was told if there was a container or something we wanted to add to our centerpieces (such as the snowglobes) that this was okay, but we couldn't provide everything.
I know it can get pretty confusing  If you ever want to know about bringing something I have found that it doesn't hurt to ask your planner because you never know if they'll say yes! :woohoo:

I'm going to be staying down in Detroit for a couple of days with work, so I won't be around again until this weekend. I just wanted to share a couple of pictures before I leave.
Here are my rings. I really wanted something unique and I think we achived it. For the bands I like the filigree style, but also wanted yellow gold. It was nearly impossible to find a joint band, so we ended up having the jeweler make these thin bands to go inbetween; I really love it so I guess that's the most important thing. The filigree bands look like they have small flowers carved in them.

Over the last couple of days, I have been able to get a few more wedding things accomplished. I did get our DFTW knife set engraved (still have to take pics) and I also printed off a bunch of things like the Crossword puzzle which I made online. I’m at work and don’t have a photo of that uploaded yet, but I will add that on tonight. I really enjoyed using the web site and it was so easy to make; I’m going to add it in the folders in the Welcome Bags. http://www.puzzle-maker.com/
Here are the water bottles; we think we have to use the smaller ones for weight. The gift bag style for the regular guests are already getting too heavy and when I put regular size bottles in them I think they might rip.

I also got Kris’ gifts this weekend. I ended up getting him some cufflinks and a shirt. Ironically he is a guy that will wear cufflinks with suits on a regular basis, so I figured they were a good investment. I got him University of Michigan ones because that’s where we met. I found them online for over $100 and then I went to Ann Arbor where the main campus is located I got them for only $55!

I LOVE this t-shirt. DH and I have seen several new grooms wearing them at WDW and we always laugh. We own every game system known to man so I had planned on buying DH one as his joke wedding gift, but never got around to it.

I don't remember off hand, I'll have to check my file in Photoshop. I just took the regular label off the bottle and measured it then copied that size. I was able to get 3 per regular sheet of paper.
Also, I ordered the Xerox waterproof paper from Staples to use on the labels. They used to carry it in-store, but now you have to order it online. I think it was $13 for a pack of 25 sheets.

I was just at the Disney store at my local mall and all their snowglobes are 50% off and I have a coupon for an extra 15% on top of that. I am pretty sure you are the bride that is using the snowglobes for your centerpieces. I am pretty sure you had listed some info earlier in your thread but I was wondering how you are setting them up on the tables and what Disney is charging you to use your own stuff. Our ceremony is at ADH and I am hoping they are round tables and the snowglobes would look great. I seem to remember that you needed to put some floral around them also.
Also, what are you doing about giving them away. We will probably have 6 or 7 tables. Our first phone planning session is scheduled for 2/18 and I am sure they will be off sale by then.
Looking forward to hearing from you when you get a minute.
Thanks,
Linda

Hi Linda,
You are absolutely correct I am the snowglobe bride :goodvibes Check out pg. 5 of my journal for pictures.
We are have the snowglobes put up on square glass blocks (not all of them are going to be raised, only the shorter ones) then they will have ivy around that with sprinkled petals around. We are also have 3 votives on each table.
The blocks are $5 each, the votices are $7.50 (for 3- $2.50 each), and the petals and ivy are around $18 for the smaller tables. We could have cut down on the floral or the votives, but we decided to keep them.
As far as giving them away, I am only allowing people who are helping with the wedding to pick one to take. The rest of them I figured I will keep and then sell them on eBay or give them away. I don't think we'll have a problem with people taking them because most people will assume they are from Disney and that they are not mine.

Thanks so much for answering. I reread your entire report last night. We received our signed contract and vouchers for our Annual Passes yesterday in the mail - and I made my DF take a picture just like yours - holding the vouchers.
The snowglobe idea is great and we are definately considering it.
We were also checking out photographers websites last night and of course I showed my DF Randy's site. I also showed him your engagement pictures that Randy took and he said "lets get these done too" - yaaaaaaaaah. I also showed him the book you are going to use for your guest book and he really liked that idea so I will get one made and hopefully use that as our guest book. How long were you with Randy for your shoot - you got so many great pictures and I love that you did a wardrobe :rotfl: change in the middle and a change of location.
I was also wondering what your final picks for your brunch are. We are also planning on a Tinkerbelle Brunch but in ADH - not Ariels. We checked out Ariels on our site visit and we really love that place but we will probably be having between 50 and 60 people and we thought ADH would be a better choice.
Thanks so much for your whole planning journal - it has really been a big help to both me and I am sure most brides on this site.

Thanks so much for answering. I reread your entire report last night. We received our signed contract and vouchers for our Annual Passes yesterday in the mail - and I made my DF take a picture just like yours - holding the vouchers.

I just realized that you're getting married on my parent's 30th anniversary, so that will definitely be a great day!
Thank you for taking time to read through my entire journal :surfweb: I just started printing it off to put away and save as a journal of my wedding plans and was surprised how massive it has become
I'm glad that you were able to get a pictures with the passes :thumbsup2 I am a big scrapbooker, so I always have to document everything. It has helped a lot with my journal too!
Randy was really great for our engagement shoot, I was so glad that we were able to meet him before the actual wedding. Plus, I was being pushed around in a wheelchair since I still wasn't walking that great at the time and he even helped carry some of our stuff.
We had around 2 hours time with him for the shoot. It's hard to say exactly see it was broken up with travel from the Polynesian to Wilderness Lodge. We just let him know in advance that we wanted to change clothes and it wasn't a big deal. I'm really excited that I found a way to reuse the pictures in the guestbook plus I'm going to use it as one of my coffeetable books afterwards. So, have you officially booked Randy yet?
Thanks again for keeping up on my posts :goodvibes
Your wedding is soooo close!!!! You ready? You excited? huh? Huh?
Good luck and can't wait to hear all about it!!!!

Let's see if I can remember this from memory (I'll check for mistakes later tonight if I get a chance).
:tinker: It's an adaption of the Tinkerbell brunch.
Pre-reception:
Fruit display
Cheese display
Buffet:
Omlete Bar- in addition to everything normally offered we added some other cheeses and sausage (our family likes spicey things)
Bacon
Sausage
AuGratin Potatoes (recipe from Cinderella's Royal Table)
Chicken Breast with Fig Au Jus (I thought this would be gross, but I loved it!)
Chicken Caesar Pasta (recipe from Crystal Palace)
Crepe station with oranges, bananas, chocolate (& we added peaches)
Pastry Display
Signature Drink- passion fruit, orange, and pineapple? (this combination might be wrong, but it was quite yummy)
We're also having an assortment of other juices along with coffee and tea.
Cake-
Carrot with cream cheese filling
Orange with orange filling
Chocolate with peanut butter cup filling
Dessert Party-
Child in You menu

Funny what you said about the Chicken Breast with Fig Au Jus (I thought this would be gross, but I loved it!). I thought the same thing. I'll have to try it when we go down for our menu tasting.
I am so upset though. I just got the new menus for the Desert Party and they are no longer doing The Child in You menu. I really do not like the new ones and of course they are more expensive. We are really going to have to go over this. Our initial phone session is February 18 so we will have to see what we can do about this.

I have been doing a mega scrapbooking session because my aunt wants me to bring scrapbooks of my wedding planning so far to my first shower tomorrow, so that has been nice and relaxing :cutie:
I did realize today at least the things that are left to be done wouldn't really impact the overall quality of the wedding. Of course, they will add a lot but probably I would only notice if they were missing

Here are some pictures from my first shower that was today. It was a lot of fun!! My aunt gave it for me at her house. She did a retro 1950s theme with the food and decorations. She restores dolls and made two that looked like my maid of honor and matron of honor. There was about 25 people there, so it was a pretty good turnout. My matron of honor is hosting one next Saturday with all our friends :pixiedust:

I spent last night from 11 p.m. - 6 a.m. with my grandma in the emergency room (she is 83). She fell last week and has been having problem with her vision. My dad was out of town and my aunt recruited me to drive her up there. Needless to say I'm pretty tired and had to take the day off to sleep!!! She is doing better, but is so worried that she might miss her trip to Disney!
Somehow along the way in our planning the theme for my rehearsal dinner became "Pirates of the Caribbean." pirate: princess: This actually started because I got some items for 10 cents out of the dollar bin at Target because they were 90 percent off.
The dinner will be at FRESH Mediterranean marketplace on March 2. We're having a 10 a.m. rehearsal with lunch at 12 p.m. We decided to get the buffet lunch because it is only $17.95 per person including beverages. We also get a private room for the setup.

Here is another project that I finished today. Since I do ballet I wanted to have my flowergirl wear ballet slippers. Then I saw an idea in a bridal magazine to add the butterflies which will continue the theme (the flowers all have butterfly crystals and our sand ceremony set has them too- my grandpa called me "Butterfly" when I was growing up because that's what my name means):

I do still do ballet :dance3: After my car accident I was worried I wouldn't be able to do it anymore, but my therapists actually had me start back in December because they thought it will help me build my strength back in my hips. I've never done it professionally or anything, I just do it for fun as a hobby. I dance with a group of 20 women that range in age from 16 to 35. We have a blast and usually do 2-3 performances per year.

The main thing I do is ballet, but I get pulled into jazz dances sometimes when they're short on people :rotfl: I have also been thinking about taking a pair of white ballet slippers to wear at the reception. I am taking my "character" shoes to wear for our dance since my other shoes are flats and I don't want to step on my dress.

Vanessa,
I've been reading your PJ for awhile now. I've gotten so many idea from you. Good luck with your up coming wedding. I'm probably gonna be at disney then because we are going to a spring training game at wild world of sports.
just a side note to upcoming brides about the waterbottles. Another idea which I have come to find. I work at Fedex Kinkos and we have something called lammie labels. Its a laminate with a sticky surface on the back. You can laminate 3 on a 8.5 x 11 and then use the cutter. I was supposed when my manager gave me the idea. :thumbsup2

Spring training baseball is so much fun, the guys are going to see the Detroit Tigers play on that Saturday while we're at the bridal tea. I'm actually jealous that I'm missing the game :rotfl: They have to drive down to Lakeland though because they wanted to see the specific game.
That is a great tip about the sticky paper, that would definitely save your fingers from getting sticky using the glue sticks. ;)

I wanted to update everyone since I've been missing for a couple of days. Another twist in our saga on the way down the aisle happened this week. We now have to appear in court to deal with his dad's estate and have had to postpone our honeymoon to Hawaii until April. The hearing was originally scheduled for two days after our wedding while we would have still be in Florida, but thankfully we were able to move it.
Even though it is shifted it will interfere with Kris' time off work. Since he is leaving his job in mid-April he only has so many vacation days left adding days for court would put him over his limit, so we are switching it to the end of April once things have died down. At least it's all paid for, all we have to do is pay for the change penalties. I guess I should have paid the extra for trip insurance! This will probably work out better in the long run though because if we didn't postpone it I'm sure Kris would be worried the entire time we were in Hawaii about going to court. Hopefully in April we can just sit back and relax.
We were leaving for Hawaii the Friday after the wedding, we have decided to stay until Sunday and are going over to the Sarasota area to watch some spring training baseball that weekend.
On a positive note, my second shower on Saturday was fantastic. My matron of honor did a Disney Princess theme which was so much fun! I still have to upload pictures. I am hoping to get to it tonight, but it's my dad's birthday so I'm not sure if I will get to it or not. If I don't get to it tonight, I know I will have time tomorrow.
As far as things for the wedding, a lot is done. I still have to print off the programs and assemble them even though they are all designed already. I also need to pick up my dress tonight from getting the bustle and have to get my jacket made to wear at the dessert party. I plan to ship my dress to Carolyn Allen's on Friday. Time is flying by too quickly especially with all these other things thrown on our plate!

That would be pretty cool :cool1: We're actually meeting another bride on the 29th at DTD in the evening, maybe we could plan to join up depending on everyone's schedules. Two trips to Disney so close together how lucky for the both of you :woohoo:

Send me a PM with the time & place and I'll try to be there! I'm not sure about our schedule yet... We're either not working and driving up on Friday morning, or leaving at 4 (and hopefully getting there before 7). The only thing set in stone is the baby shower I'm going to on Sunday :cutie:

I know that is definitely the good thing, I would be so bummed if we couldn't go and ended up losing all that money that we paid too! :scared:

After much debate, we ended up ordering these suitcase favors. I was going to purchase chocolate dipped Mickey pretzels with candy pieces from the Candy Cauldron in DTD. The cost was pretty good and it was Mickey ;) However, after I saw these online I showed them to my parents. My dad insisted that we get them and offered to pay the extra cost. The only thing that I said was that I wanted really good chocolate (my favorite dessert). So, we were going to get Ghiradelli chocolate at DTD to fill them.
http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x62/vcf81/Wedding%20Purchases/suitcase.jpg
Last weekend after Valentine's Day I ended up getting boxes of Ghiradelli squares 75%, so we went ahead and filled them up and will just carry them in a carry-on. I have some pictures of all the chocolate boxes piled up that I need to upload.
I will also share a picture of our labels that we ordered for the suitcases. But, they just came in yesterday and they had the wrong date :scared1: The invoice and the order all say March 3, but the actually labels say March 2  Our labels actually have an airplane on them instead of a palm tree and say "Destination Love." My mom is suppose to deal with the label problem today, so I hope it is resolved quickly because we leave for Disney in only 7 days!!!
Tomorrow we close on our condo and I have to ship out the snowglobes to Disney Floral and my dress to Carolyn Allen's.
Then on Sunday, my parents and I are going to Ohio with Kris to load up his furniture in my dad's truck. We are bringing it all back on Monday. I really wish I wasn't losing these two days from time for wedding stuff!

Vanessa,
Time is drawing near for your beautiful wedding. I'm so excited to see how everything turns out! I'm sorry that you had to delay your honeymoon, but at least you don't loose your money and you still get to go!
Sending you lots of :goodvibes :goodvibes to get through the next several days leading up to the wedding.
OOPS...I almost forgot! I love the suitcase favors and I LOVE ghiradelli chocolate!
I've just spent 4 hours reading every word of your PJ and loved every minute of it!
Everything looks fantastic and your dress looks fabulous on you. I hope your MIL is being less MIL-like - we're lucky that we don't have that as my DF hasn't spoken to his family for 10 years. Keeps it much easier with the guest count too!
I love the newsletter. We have done one for our guests as only 4 of us have been to Disney before. After seeing yours I'm going to add some photos in :thumbsup2

Here are some pictures from the shower from last week after a little delay. I have more, but for some reason they are showing up really huges, so I'm going to wait and try again later to add them. She had Disney Princess cupcakes and balloons too. My matron of honor was the host and she did a Disney Princess theme.

I have been reading your journal for sometime although by the time I found it it was already 30 pages! Your ideas are so great and I wanted to thank you for pointing me in the right direction for the disney font. I am using it on the cards I'm making for my bridesmaids.
I'm trying to start my planning journal but don't have enough posts so I'm just saying hi to all the PJ's I've been reading for the past month. I can't wait to read about your wedding!
Good luck in the last few crunch moments!

Okay, I am back after a whirlwind trip down to pick up and move some of Kris' stuff back from Ohio. I worked on wedding stuff on 4 hour trip down and back over the weekend. I also loaded up a bag with stuff to work on at his place too :rotfl:
Anyway, we are still in the midst of the massive program assembling process. We shipped out 8 boxes over the weekend including the snowglobes and cake topper (Disney Floral) and the dress (to Carolyn Allen's) along with some things for the guest Welcome Bags (to POR).
This weekend, I also decided to personalize our Mickey bubbles, so I added names to all of them like the embroidery on Mickey ears. It actually only took about 10 minutes to do all 50 of them and they look really cute. I just used a Sharpie paint pen. :yay:
Here are a few other things that I don't think I've posted pictures of before.
Our sand ceremony set:

Our rehearsal invitations that go along with the pirate: theme:

Also, my necklace and earrings:
http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x62/vcf81/Wedding%20Purchases/BridalShower-AuntLa386.jpg
Finally, my mom put together this great back with stuff for our Hawaii trip and gave it to us at one of the showers (notice the back heating pad for me since I am no doubt going be missing my 3x per week therapy after 8 days away)
http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x62/vcf81/Wedding%20Purchases/BridalShower-AuntLa355.jpg
We are also still assembling the programs. They look really cute, but have been way too much work! :confused3 I decided to use the Mickey fan template then make the program slide out using an eyelet to have other pages. I will try to post pictures before I leave. Needless to say after cutting out over 50 Mickey heads and nearly 300 circular pages everyone is getting sick of the programs :upsidedow

Okay, after hours and hours of work the programs are finished. I started with the Mickey fan template and since our wedding is inside in March decided to improvise. Little did I know how much work it would be :rotfl:
They are so cute, but were extremely time consuming and I would not recommend doing them because of the work. My dad made a template that we cut around with an exact-o-knife (not sure how you spell that one!) I was going to try to use this scrapbooking tool to cut them out, but it didn't work out. We made 54 programs which is a grand total of 432 circles cut out and 54 Mickey ears. :scared1: We were able to cut out 4-5 at at ime.
Here we are working on the endless cutting!

I sent out a newsletter to our guests on Monday:

I can't include the second page because I forgot to black out our phone numbers, it has a step by step guide to the Magical Express that includes pictures!
I think that's about it for now. I still have to pack my clothes tonight and I have to finish up the welcome letter for the folders in the Welcome Bags. I'm also picking up my wrap that I'm having made to wear at the dessert party.
