This was the reply to my question: What would be available to be booked on May 16th for September through December. I was particularly interested in studios.

"Hello Barbara, Thank you for your e-mail. WE should have a limited number of dedicatedstudios and grand villas as well as one bedroom and two bedroom lockoffs. All rooms will have either Savanna or standard views. The non-savanna views can be pool or garden views. We will gradually increase our inventory as construction is completed. I hope this helps. Ok, I have decided to try for AKV for both my September and December dates, savannah view studios.

My understanding is they will have 7 2-br lockouts and 7 studios available starting in mid-July, with more to come as remodeling gets completed.

I'm glad about the dedicated studios as well. I haven't heard anything that would change the fact that non AKV owners will be able to book in June!

Based on the Units declared so far: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=18661689&postcount=199 I think there will be at least the following villa types available in September:

Dedicated Studios: 17 (14 Savanna View, 3 Standard/Pool view)
2BR Lockoffs: 23 (17 Savanna View, 6 Standard/Pool view)
Grand Villas: 3

There are a few units still to come in the "Sep '07" phase of AKV. It looks like there is room for one or two more Standard view 2BR lockoffs, and maybe four more Savanna view 2BR lockoffs and a few more Savanna view dedicated studios.

The reason for the high number of dedicated studios is because AKL is built as a series of connected "segments" with 7-8 rooms in each segment. When you convert those rooms into villas, you need 3 AKL rooms for each 2BR lockoff. In a 7-room segment, there is one room left over so that becomes a dedicated studio. In the 8-room segments, there are 2 rooms left over and while they could make them into a dedicated 1BR, based on the docs filed with Orange County, they are opting to create 2 dedicated studios instead of a dedicated 1BR.
