Another I Drive robbery

Just read that 2 German tourists were robbed and the woman sexually assaulted at the Howard Johnson hotel on I drive last night. I drive is defo getting worse. I know we saw a difference when we went last september. We have stayed on i drive 7 times since 1995 but i think we will think about staying on site next time we go its such a shame.

Deedee, there is a thread about this over on the trip planning board. Whilst I agree that it is terrible when these things happen, I don't necessarily think it means that I-Drive is unsafe. I have heard of 2 attacks happening on I-Drive this year - the one you mention and another back in February. On both occasions, I believe it was opportunists who seized their chance - both events involved the victims being less than careful about their opwn personal safety. In the incident in Feb, the couple in question left their room open and unoccupied while they loaded their car and in this most recent incident, the victims had their room doors propped open. Still awful but there are always a certain amount of precautions you can take to preserve your safety. Personally, it hasn't put me off staying on I-Drive - I would still stay there if I needed to.
