Luckily we decided to leave at 7 a.m. Sat instead of our original time of 9 a.m. - or we wouldn't have been able to get down I-75! We live 3 hours from Lake City & about 2 1/2 from Waycross and the smoke covered our town Sat. morning. It got worse and worse as we drove down 75 - I didn't realize there was a fire in Lake City - I thought it was all from the Swamp. We noticed there was no traffic heading north and then saw where they'd closed I75 N - so we were really lucky to get by! We spent the afternoon by our pool at the Caribbe Royal, had dinner at Bahama Breeze and then hit PI. We had a great time - DD got to go on-stage at the Comedy Warehouse and DH did at the Adventurer's Club - and danced - it was hysterical! A perfect birthday celebration for DD & her BFF.
We came home going up I-4 to 95 and then 341 - and I mapquested it today - it was only 32 miles further that way. So not too bad at all.
