The reason I ask is because tonight I have friends coming over, and one of the movies that they're bringing is Rent. I have never seen it.

So, did you like it or not?

I just saw it a couple weeks ago...

...I fell in love with it. It's very good, the music is great imo.

Personally, I loved Roger, Angel, and Joanne. Take note of those characters lol. I thought Roger had such a unique voice and had that raw rock sound to it. Angel was just awesome lol and I thought the girl who played Joanne had a beautiful range in her voice. I also liked Mark...I thought his role in the film was very interesting.

When you watch it, pay attention to Angel's song "Today For You". You hear about a dog Evita and then you hear about this dog again later in the film. A lot of people I know don't get it when they hear it in the later part because they didn't listen to the lyrics of Angel's song.

After you watch it, post back here what you thought about it, I'll be interested to hear :)

you'll either hate it or become an addicted renthead. it opens your eyes. i cried when i first saw it, and now i have fond memories of my thespian troupe singing and dancing on tables and chairs to la vie boheme.

Roger is the closest one to my heart. I identify the most with him 'cause he's reclusive except with the people he's close to, plus he's trying to finish a song. With me, I'm trying to finish a story I've been writing for years. Plus I'm something of an introvert.

Ahaha, my friends and I want to do that.

you should. you feel so awesome afterwards.

when our troupe did it, it really was meaningful. we were at a thespian district competition and im telling you everyone was having a horrible, horrible day. and we were all just sitting around in a classroom feeling sorry for ourselves, when one of our guys puts in rent. at first we were just sitting around singing "will i lose my dignity..." but it just got too emo, and someone flipped it to la vie boheme. from the minute i opened my mouth with the infamous "who died?" we were all standing up, dancing and singing, and if someone didnt know the words they were dancing anyway. by the end of it, everyone was laughing and hugging, taking pictures, you name it. we never, ever feel like a troupe because we argue a lot, but in that moment we were a real thespian troupe.

...look at that ramble!

Rent's my favorite movie. EVER. I saw it on opening day at the movie theater with my friends, and we totally cried our eyes out! I also saw it three times on Broadway (and I'm seeing Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp when they come back, on their opening night :) ) It has such a powerful message that can change peoples lives. I remember one time, I was trying out the lottery in the city for the Rent 10 anniversary. At least 2,000 people were there, I'm not kidding, even though they only picked about 30 of them. But to come together with these strangers who all shared the same love as me was amazing. Each of these 2,000 people loved Rent like I did. And everyone had a different story. Some had seen the movie and the show 20 times each! What I'm trying to say is, there's something in this movie for everyone, no matter who you are. It's really cool that it touched people all over the country :thumbsup2

Hope you enjoyed it!

I lovvvvvvvvvve Rent.

To be honest, I like the Broadway show better, but really, things are normally better when seen live. lol. :) But the movie is a great replacement to watch!

The cast is simply amazing, and the music is phenomenal. It's a tear-jerker, so be ready to cry! (seriously, no matter how many times I watch it, I cry from Without You onwards. haha)

oh, and to add to the dancing on tables thingy, the musical theatre group I'm involved with in college is going to be performing La Vie Boheme probably sometime next year, right in the middle of the dinner rush in our dining hall. :)

I didn't have many expectations for the movie, because I didn't like Chicago. But...I really enjoyed it. I thought the beginning was a little slow, but once the story began to unfold, I started to get into it. I think it'll grow on me even more over time. I thought the girl who played Joanna? is an awesome singer. She can really belt it.

So, that's about it in a nutshell. You can ask questions if you'd like to know more. :)

Oh god, don't even get me started! Rent is such an amazing movie/musical... I think everyone should see it at least once, just to open your eyes to the amazing story and music. Plus, Adam Pascal is so hot, so even if you don't like the movie you still have him to ogle at. :p

I absolutely adore RENT! I only got the DVD for Christmas last year (after becoming obsessed with Idina Menzel [Maureen] and having met her when she reprised her role as Elphaba in Wicked when she was in London). The first time I watched it I was hooked and found myself crying from Will I. The ultimate song I cry at most is I'll Cover You (reprise).

When I went to stay with my friend last month, I made her watch it and she's now hooked! She even sends me text messages to say "Moo with me" or even "Today for you, tomorrow for me".

I'm going back to NYC (hopefully) next year and while I'm there, I'm hoping to see RENT on Broadway.

Plus Adam Pascal is hot! xox
