We will be staying in a 1bdrm @ OKW for our upcoming Thanksgiving trip..My DH insists since we are driving and staying in a 1bdrm, that we should make a quick stop to Winn Dixie for groceries to cook all of our meals!!!:rotfl2: I would much rather do the DDP like we usually do. I did not reserve a 1bdrm for the "joy of cooking"...So how many of you fellow Disney fanatics actually cook all of your meals while on vacation? Am I being unreasonable?:confused3

Dining reservations are going to be difficult and costly during that trip. We are going to be there Thanksgiving week too, and because we will have 6 of us, we are going to be cooking instead of doing the DDP. $1638 for the DDP was enough to choke me when I KNOW I can buy groceries and cook for a couple hundred dollars.

Agree cooking in will save you a lot.

Cooking will save you a ton of money on vacation. :hippie:
We have a spreadsheet of our ADRs for our vacation!
Seriously, we go to the store and buy drinks, snacks, quick breakfast and some lunch foods. We don't cook dinner.

We always stay in a 1 b/r and I always cook a few meals. It's kind of relaxing to have down time in the room and truthfully, I get tired of all restaurant meals. We always do breakfast in the room (bagels, frozen waffles, cereal, yogurt), and sometimes the break and bake Nestle Tollhouse cookies or popcorn for a snack while watching a movie. For dinners I've made the frozen Stouffer's lasagne, or cooked chicken breasts in the crockpot (using the leftovers for wraps), made a pot of soup, rice-a-roni in the microwave. Bagged salad and cut up fruit round things out. Nothing difficult nor time-consuming.
Word of advice: have your dh take you to Publix instead, it's a better grocery store. :)

I think it's better to get the best of both worlds. I think being able to have breakfast right in the villa is a lot more appealing than having to get dressed and out and then "stop" for breakfast. The ability to have snacks -- wine cheese -- etc. makes for a great vacation too. Shopping and cooking every meal -- I'm with you that would not be vacation.
I can't see spending money on the full dining program -- I'd rather be flexible as to when I eat "in" and when I eat "out".
