Okay, my daughter always requests a luau birthday party and I talked her out of ANOTHER Little Mermaid luau this year.
So, now I need Mickey Mouse Luau ideas.....

I bought the coolest tiki Mickey cup today at the Disney store and I have a large Mickey head hole punch, Mickey cookie cutter, Mickey lolipop molds, and Mickey edible cake sprinkles. How can I make luau themed favors using these things? I have a few ideas but maybe someone else is more creative.

We have a huge blow up water slide for the main activity.
I thought about making the cake look like the ocean and finding a Mickey surfing but I searched eBay and no luck finding a surfing Mickey.

Any ideas???? cake??? favors??? games???
Any ideas on how to incorporate Mickey in to our existing luau decorations (standard luau junk)???

Thanks for all your help. :)

Definitely something I could get all into. I know for the cake that would be pretty easy...I would just be putting three round cakes together to make a giant Mickey head (although trimming the two for the ears so they attach nicely). You could use the Mickey Sprinkles to help decorate the cake. I'd also put some Hawaiian type flowers around the perimeter of the cake. I know our ShopRite sells the edible purple and white flowers in the produce aisle in little bags (kind of like the size of a bag of raddishes). I don't get too crazy with the cakes only cause the kids see them for like two minutes, then it gets all cut up. :upsidedow

Have you tried Oriental Trading? I get their book all the time, and have tons of Luau stuff. None of it's disney though, but it's so, cute!!

Here's a link to a luau beach themed cake that I made last summer for our annual Luau party. It's not Disney themed but you could use it as a guide and put characters on it instead of "people". :thumbsup2

What about making paper Mickey leis? You could make cutouts of Mickey heads in different colored construction paper and then thread on string. You could even incorporate some fun beads and have it alternate between Mickey head, bead, mickey etc. It could be a fun craft for the kids. :)

You could also use a thin craft foam for the Mickey cutouts.

we just did the leis for school (not Mickey-just flowers) but we used drinking straws inbetwwen the flowers for the beads, they were cut about 1 icnch long. They llok very cute and the kids loved making them.
