Hi everyone,

Here it is! My Live trip report like I promised!
party: party:
I am so excited to be on this cruise !!!

I know alot of people want to know how this cruise goes, especially those on the other repo on the way back, so here goes!

I have to make a few disclaimers:

1. My writings are in no way witty or funny like other posters on here---so sorry! (I wish I was, because I sure appreciate them.) So I hope my report isn't so dry that it bores anyone to tears. I pretty much just tell it as I see it.

2. I might not do it religiously every day, since I do not know how many minutes I will use up in 2 weeks instead of one.

OK intros:
Me- 35, Disney fanatic---bordering on OCD, but not too bad once I am on the ship!

DH- 37, sometimes acts like 5 (but please don't tell him that!) :rolleyes1 just kidding. He mostly goes along for the ride to appease me, but he is actually REALLY excited to be on this cruise. I think DCL is our compromise. :)

DS 4, our Stitch in every sense of the word. I would like to apologize to everyone on the cruise in advance. He is unpredicable and the hardest of all our 4 kids, so we never know what he will do sometimes.

We have 4 children all together, but our 3 oldest children 14, 13, and 10 are staying home with grandma and grandpa because of school. They actually wanted a break from their little brother, so are actually happy to stay home! :confused3

Right now, we are at the airport in Boise, Idaho, about ready to board our plane to Denver and then on to Orlando.
Now this is one of my most stressful part of the trip for me. I am doing this trip report while waiting for DS and DH to join me and its getting a little too close for comfort.
You see, my sister was supposed to drop us off at the airport, but bailed on us at the last minute, so he and DS dropped me off at the airport with the bags, and they went to drop the car off at my sister's house (she is letting us park in her garage) and had to call a taxi, and of course was waiting and waiting for it to come. I know they are on their way, but I ....

OK they just called and are through security and are eating at McD's. I feel a little better, but will be alot better once we are in Orlando! I have had so many mishaps with so many airlines, I don't trust any of 'em. ;)

We are boarding, talk to everyone later!

Thanks agian, Julie

Thanks so much Julie!
And thanks so much everyone for the well wishes! I am excited to meet all the great Disers that I have talked with over the last little while. There are alot of us on that thread that only joined the last 2-3 months or so.

Well here we are at the Country Inn and suites at almost 1:00 am. Before you gasp in horror, you have to realize, that:

1. I am WAY too hyped up and excited to sleep...I have plenty of time to relax on the boat right? :rolleyes1

2. We are used to being 2 hours behind eastern time....

3. Our son slept almost the entire leg from Denver to Orlando

4. Our flight was a little late (9:30 pm), and by the time we got our bags, got our car, and traveled to Port Canaveral, it was 10:30 pm. We checked in (the staff was very friendly) and had to make a walmart stop to get Dr Pepper and a case of water.

OK quick update:
Our flight in Denver looked like it was getting off to a great start and then suddenly pulled off of the runway. I told DH, I should have known it would not go so easily. LOL
The runway was so hot, it fried the breaks and overheated and engine? WHAT? That was one I NEVER heard before.... :headache:
So we had to sit and wait about 20 - 30 minutes for it to cool back down.

BUT looking back, I am really commenting about something SO miniscule. Our bags were arriving at the conveyor belt just as we were walking to it, all our bags made it ok, and we made it to Florida the night before, I did not care if we were a little late...Sometimes I get so uptight over tiny things.

At Budget, there were only 1 to 2 people working at a time, and I waited for about 30 minutes for only a few people ahead of me! We all figured that since it was late, it would be obvious to have fewer people, but the wait did get old pretty fast.
BUT we did get upgraded from a fullsize to a full size SUV, so we were happy. There were not many cars in the lot, and must have ran out of full size.

***Since we have been in Orlando (about 5 monts ago), they said that there is a new policy where you have to bring your proof of insurance card with you to rent a car. I have no idea if he was telling that to make us rent supplemental insurance, but we did the liability only for $12 because we are worry warts, and did not have proof of insurance. He never said we could NOT rent a car, but made it seem that if we were pulled over, we would be in trouble for not having it. Maybe this was always the case, but they never asked about it before. Just wanted to give a heads up to anyone who does not know this changed recently. He said it happened about 5 months ago.

Country Inn and suites is a very nice place. I really like it! I will probably choose either here or the Residence Inn for future cruises. I love being close to port! :hyper: :hyper: (these smilies are so funny, I will probaby use them alot....)

http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w94/jamadams83713/DisneyCruise2007069.jpg

And yes, I will post pictures. I have a photobucket account all set up and ready to go. Since I was in the inside of airports and airplanes all day today, and arrived in black of night, I did not take too many, but those that I did of the hotel room, etc, I will post soon. Pics are the best part!! Especially tomorrow....talk about one of the biggest thrills of the trip, embarkation!!!!

Then the trip REALLY begins!!!!!!!!! :yay: :cheer2:

Hi everyone.
My DH and I and hopefully some of the rest of us that represent the Aug 08 EBPC will be seeing you off. Look for us in the park next to Grills.
We will have a banner and my DH loves to wave with his Disney Gloves We will be checking in with your trip and hope you have a very safe and clam crossing. And if I can get some decent film, I will post it on my Youtube site.:thumbsup2

icunurse_celeste - That's so sad about your son realizing he's not going with you on vacation. Don't worry about it, though...you'll both be just fine. I'm sure that you will enjoy your vacation without him. We always try to take a vacation at least every other year without the kids and I always feel guilty, but then it's so nice to have adult time with no kids! (Dont' get me wrong, I love my kids more than anything in the world, it's just nice to have that break every once and a while from the parental responsibilities) And just think, that will give you an excuse to book another cruise to take him on to surprise him with later!!

No word from the ship.
But they should be docking at Castaway Cay Real soon!!!
http://www.sailwx.info/shiptrack/shipposition.phtml?call=C6PT7

Well Hello everyone - and anyone that is reading while cruising. I am posting from home, updating about Susanowen27.
She left her house at 9:00 PM Friday May 11. Her plane was delayed two hours - waiting for a Jr High group to board. Frustrating - but not to worry - they would miss the connecting flight in Atlanta but another plane would be leaving and they were rebooked on it.
They landed, raced to the new connecting flight to find out it left the airport 10 minutes early. Now they are in Atlanta with no flight. The next flight out was overbooked and they were on stand-by with other Disney cruisers in the same boat...
They did not get on. Next flight out landed in Orlando at 2:21. They assured them they had seats. I called Disney - it looks like they may still make the ship departure - but just barely.

Arlenesp Great job with the Video....

In one month I will be leaving for the Magic. I am so excited. We are on the June 16th 11 day cruise. So take care of the Magic. My husband had gastric bypass so he would not be so over weight for this cruise. So far he has lost 140 pounds. He looks great. It is also my sons high school graduation present. :wave2: everybody - I was at the park next to Grills with Arelene and Pam (DisneySweetie) yesterday. I was going to download some shots but the download time is horrendous here in POR. Anyway, hoping this afternoon will be better. It was great to see the Magic off and I'm really  at myself for not bringing my telephoto lens. However, in my defense, I was only supposed to be at the parks this weekend on my first ever alone trip w/o DH and kids. So Hygiene99 - I feel for you and mine are 21, 20 and 14! Course I've heard from everyone but DH since I've been here and don't know if I should be  about that or not.

Anyway, hopefully later this evening I'll post a landlubber version of the banner placed on deck 10 - I took several as the wind kept kicking it up but I'm sure I have one - this way you all can enjoy the version we got! :thumbsup2 Keep up the good work you all onboard - keep us posted!

This thread has become so popular, and they're just at CC right now.

Can you imagine what this board will look like the first time the new ship sails into PC? (assuming it goes there as soon as it gets to the U.S.)

I posted the original on another thread. She is my Mom and I have not heard from her so she must have made the ship. I sure would love to hear from her so I would know how the rest of the day went. Last I heard, the airline did not know where her luggage was - with them in Atlanta or in Orlando.

Hi everyone!!!

I'm posting LIVE from my stateroom!

CC was great, hardly anyone was there . They told us there is about 1700 of us on board. Not sure if that's true or not.

Dinners are the same menus so far, but today we got a really nice hardcover book about the crossing of the Atlantic.

We are about 3,100 nautical miles from The Canary Islands, and the waves are moderate at 4-8 feet. (Can't ya tell I'm watching the Bridge Report on TV!!)

I met a ton of the DIS'ers, they are all a great bunch of folks. My girls are so excited coming back to our room as there is always a little goodie in our fish extender for them!

I'll post more, but off to bed for me!

We are now in the "dark blue" water of the Atlantic.
No turning back now!!!

That's so great with internet from the staterooms you can chat from your cabin. Does the internet work well? We are on the 6/16 med cruise & my DB is hoping the internet works well!

I'm WISHING I was there with you! The sail away video was great; it brought back memories and we just got off the Magic in March.
I hope you all have a GREAT trip and please keep those of us who are grounded in on the events.

Hey Debbie-
Glad to see that there weren't any natural diasters that kept you from going! What are the internet rates like now that they have removed the PC's from the ship? (I had heard they were going to remove them all from Quiet Cove and Preludes-did they do that- and that they were going to have laptops that people could borrow.)

I think of you every time I wear my vintage Red Cross shirt!!

Sorry it took me so long. Thanks for everyone else who posted too! Here is my report for days 1 and 2:

Day 1:
Today is the big day! I woke up at about 6:30 in the morning and started getting ready for the big day. DH got up about 7:00, we packed up and left the Country Inn at about 8:00. I had forgotten to pack something so we made a quick stop at Publix, and as we passed by Budget, we saw a whole lot of people getting ready to take the shuttle over to the port. I was pretty surprised since it was only 8:40! So I had DH and DS drop me off at the port and then he would take the shuttle and meet me later.

When we got to port at about 8:40, there were already about 5 or 6 groups in front of us. I figured so, since on our meet thread a lot were talking about arriving early. I found out later, the earliest was there at about 7:30 am. This surprised me since I arrived at 9:30 on our last cruise and was the first one in line.

It was so nice to meet a lot of Disers while waiting in line waiting for the terminal to open, and then once again inside waiting to board. A lot were there wanting to see how much upgrades were. From what I understand, someone in a category 12 who wanted to upgrade to a category 7 it was $1967.00 A lot of the people did not want to pay that money in upgrades. I have heard conflicting info about this though--I have heard some say it is from the originally priced cabin purchased and some say it is from the category you were upgraded to. So I have no idea how it all works. We were not interested in an upgrade so I never waited in the line---all of this is just what I gathered from other people. But from what I gathered, a lot of people were pretty surprised and not too happy with how much upgrades were. Many did not pay to get upgraded and were fine with what they had.

An empty terminal and the model ship.

Boarding went smoothly and quickly at about 11:45 or 12:00. I did not have a watch so I was not exactly sure, but seemed about usual.

Once onboard I had heard someone say that they had never seen the DCL parking lot so empty...here is some pics to show you:

http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w94/jamadams83713/DisneyCruise2007093.jpg

http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w94/jamadams83713/DisneyCruise2007092.jpg

When we boarded, there were quite a bit of cast members cheering in the lobby. The ladies were wearing long blue skirts, and they were handing out free drinks (I found out later it was rum punch) but since we don’t drink, never had one. I immediately headed to Palo’s, but basically so did everybody else…

I went to make Palo/table changes while DH took DS directly to the Mickey pool.
I had Palo dinner and brunch reservations, but went and got them changed to different times and days. They said they would see how the first day’s reservations went before deciding if people could start reserving more than one reservation. I have not checked back on that yet.

After about an hour, I went and joined DH up at the Mickey pool with DS, this is later in the afternoon, and was about as crowded as the Mickey pool got that day:

Our staterooms were ready right on time at 1:30, and all of our bags were promptly outside our door soon after. They were very efficient and quick.
We were in stateroom 8076 a cat. 4 stateroom. We really like it!! Great location, and so convenient. We prefer aft over midship any day, but that is just us.

On our stateroom desk, the had some neat flyers about all of the port stops we would be making, as well as the navigator and movie and tv listings for the week. They will give the second week’s listings at the end of the first week.
http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w94/jamadams83713/DisneyCruise2007098.jpg

These are the movies listed: At the show, they said they were trying to show movies that had themes or settings relating to the Med stops, so maybe this will be the movie listing for the Med cruises since ours does not go to Italy or France:
Déjà vu
Count of Monte Cristo (just one showing)
The Incredibles
The Wild
Italian Job
Wallace and Grommit and the curse of the Ware Rabbit
Wild Hogs
Bridge to Terabithia
The Invisible
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest
On the Walt Disney Theater: Meet the Robinson’s

Here are the main shows for the 2 weeks:
Welcome Aboard
Walt Disney Theater Showtime: Jimmy Tamley
Golden Mickeys
WDTS: Mike Super
On the Nose
The Art of the Story
Twice Charmed
Boyz II Men: Live in Concert
Disney Magic Crew Talent Show
Jim Brickman
When Mickey Dreams
Disney Dreams
Remember the Magic: A Final Farewell

These are some of the activites they have planned:
Adventures away (Sail away party) 5/12
Desperate Shipmates (who dunnit at sea): 5/15
Pirates in the Caribbean: 5/18
Party Paradiso: 5/23

Today was a really hard and up and down day for me. Most of the time I was amazed and SO excited we were back on the Magic so soon (we just went on an Eastern in November) and the other time was an unexplained disappointedness that I am admitting only because I am being frank. It had nothing to do on DCL’s part. They were fine, but I was tired from not much sleep the night before, and there were a few little glitches that would happen on any trip. That and I was surprised at all the savvy cruisers out there. I am used to being ahead of the game, and it seemed like this time (at the show they said over 1000 were CC members/repeat DCL cruisers) I was right in the thick of the crowds, standing in line at every turn, because everyone knew what to do. Case in point, I went to change my Palo time, and there was only a line of about 4 people. No biggie, but as I was in line, I made the decision to jump over to the dining line since no one was in it. After I spoke with a head waiter to check on our table location and size (we wanted to try for a table for four) I went back to get in the Palo line and it was about out the door of Rockin bar D. This was a matter of about 5 minutes. I was not happy with my dumb decision, and it seemed like I made dumb decisions like that all day. Nothing serious, but just in the mix of things all the time and being tired, did not help. I am playing a violin here. It was a rough day…..
I am sure I will snap out of the funk tomorrow.

The sailaway party was great. We got up to the party too late, so I did not have the best spot to film the countdown. There were only 3 times the whole cruise that I remember kicking myself for not taking the time to get there earlier, and this was one of them. (They were all doozies too. LOL)
Here is a shot of the sailaway party:
http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w94/jamadams83713/DisneyCruise2007102.jpg

They were handing out these neat metallic streamers on a stick things and some Mickey hand signs that we could wave--I did get up there in time for that. There were some people who got there too late, and they were already handed out. After the countdown and the horn, we were not moving, and time went by, and still not moving. A few of us up on deck 10 were watching to see if anyone was making a mad dash to the pier, but I had started to hear that there was a mix-up and someone's luggage was being waited for. I was so hoping that they would make it becuase I could not imagine a 2 week cruise, or who knows how long without our luggage!! :scared1:
I saw a truck rush towards the ship (do not know if that was the reason for the hold up or not) and soon after that, the terminal people came out to wave us goodbye, and we started moving.
http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w94/jamadams83713/DisneyCruise2007104.jpg

We were switched to a table for 4 at the last minute, but our server did not know we were his table, so we waited for about an hour while we watched him take orders and meet his 4 other tables. His assistant server got our drinks and knew we were there, but since we were put there all of a sudden, he was not made aware. Poor guy, he didn’t know! But this made dinner extremely slow. We were probably one of the last families out of the dining room that night. So who said early diners feel rushed? LOL We are pretty sure tomorrow things will run so much smoother.

The welcome aboard show was great. The entertainers were a guitar playing guy and a illusionist/comedy magician guy. Sorry cannot think of their names right now….

We went to bed, not used to going to Castaway Cay the next day. We were used to it on the last day, not the first day!
Stay tuned:
Is this Castaway Cay????
How many kids did you say were on board?
Why oh why do people let their kids do that????
I set my alarm for 6:30 since we could disembark Castaway Cay at 8:30 am. I wanted to see the sunrise and I wanted to watch us dock at CC. Did I do this? Stay tuned to find out….

Something Strange the way comes

Day 2: Castaway Cay:

I set the alarm for 6:30 so I could watch us dock and get off the ship promptly at 8:30.
BUT THEN:
***flashbacks of our 2 other cruises. Standing pressed up against other people I didn’t even know. Huddled together like cattle, pushing, shoving and fighting our way off the ship….Castaway Cay disembarking. Tis was Castaway Cay day…..OY! I SO did not feel like doing that. I was NOT going to do that, especially after yesterday. We had a late night and I wanted to sleep in.

So yes, I did hang up on Mickey Mouse. I did sleep in until 8:40. BUT, I knew I would walk off the ship free and clear with no fighting amongst other people. Sure, there would be a huge crowd at the family beach, sure I could just imagine the shock on the disboards…how could anyone sleep in on Castaway Cay day??? Wasting precious moments on this precious island were running through my head as we were getting ready.

Went downstairs, no people…Got off the ship as smooth as glass. Went on the tram, nice and relaxing (have NEVER taken the tram before--usually my DS14 and I sprint to get a chair). Got to the family beach ready for the dense swarms of people…where was everyone?? The family beach looked like it did on our last trip right after disembarkation. Sure there were people, but not like it should have 1 hour into the day….
I ran into a diser I knew on the cruise, and she told me something I had never witnessed before. She had gotten up early (she must have gotten a great night’s sleep!) J
She said at 8:15 there was NO one around on deck 1. They were the only families debarking at 8:30. They took a walk to the beach, and saw Epcotkilterfan and her mom arrive on the tram as they were arriving at the family beach themselves. They basically had the beach to themselves for a half hour. Wow, how would that be?? I was part shocked and parly disappointed. The one CC day I choose to sleep in, and I miss a prime and rare opportunity! My Disney luck has been spotty this trip…..Oh well, it STILL was not crowded at all.

Chase with Minnie:

We had a picture with Mickey too, but the weather was so humid, my camera fogged up!!

Here is a picture of the beach at about 10:30:

http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w94/jamadams83713/DisneyCruise2007117.jpg

I found out there were only 300 kids on this cruise (usually around 900) and that there were only 1900 people on board (400 of them Disney cast members.) I later had heard that the kids number was more around 440 or so.

She also informed me later, to include in my report, that they walked past the hair braiders at about 11:30. They (Hadley and family) asked how many braidings they had done that day, and they said they had done NONE that day so far. WOW, she was surprised at that!

There were sure a lot of people at the crab races though….DS14 did it our last cruise and there was not many people there. This time, there were TONS of people. We were lucky we got a crab. But our crab WON! Wooo hooo!

After lunch, we dropped DS off at the kids clubs (not many kids there at all----just right), and I went snorkeling for the first time at CC. It was really fun, and DH and I had some nice time together, which is why this trip was supposed to be for. We found Mickey! It was pretty amazing to swim over schools of fish that were sleeping. Hundreds of them staying so still as you swam right over them.

We picked up DS when the kids clubs closed at 3, and went back on board to get all cleaned up.

Some pictures on the way back to the ship: :(

DS wanted to go to the kids clubs on the ship and would not leave to join us for dinner, so we had a great dinner just the 2 of us, which was just fine, being Mother’s day and all… J

Dinner was so much better tonight now that they knew we were their table. I knew it would be. We had a great server team! Best location, could not have asked for more. My only problem is I cannot remember their names. I will check tomorrow.
We were at Lumiere’s (APL rotation) and they did 2 little quick shows. The second one had Beauty and the Beast come in and dance with some dancers. It was so cute.

We went directly to the WD Theater, and there was a same family (from the night before too) who sends their 2 kids to RUN and grab half the first row. Déjà vu?? I was about to find out. We sat right in front of the same family that had young boys that screamed (yelled and high pitched screamed) and kicked the chairs, even sometimes touching the back of my hair with their shoes!!! (My hair was not over the back of the seat either.)

Why do people let their kids do this? If I had kids yelling and screaming at the tops of their lungs (I would not let that happen anyways) with people right in front of them, I would stop them. I heard a lot of threatening from their mother before the show to sit in their seats, but nothing about shouting in people’s ears, or kicking seats.

I ended up with a huge migraine. There were several times I had to stop myself from turning around and telling them to stop screaming in my ear. I thought the chance of them sitting in the exact same seats behind us was very rare. I was so wrong. DH tried to tell me we would have that family with the annoying kids behind us again, but I said the chances of that were slim since I was sure someone would sit behind us first. L
The entertainer Jimmy Tamley, was just ok for me and I LOVE ventriloquists. I LOVE Taylor Mason and this guy just did not compare for me. It was SO not worth the migraine and the screaming annoying kids. It was more of a silly ventriloquism than a witty ventriloquism, know what I mean? Perfect and right up the alley for 3-10 year olds though, just not my kind of funny.

All in all it was a great day. Great CC experience, great dinner, not so great show, but all in all a happy mother’s day for me. Happy Mother’s day everyone!

Stay tuned:
6 days at sea in a row.
We were informed tonight to set our clocks forward 1 hour, and this would continue to happen every night for the next five nights. L

Wow I am so fasinated by your report, only 1900 cruisers and only 300 children. I think your right about just needing a little rest and relaxation to perk you up. I sometimes work so hard getting everything ready to go that it takes me a few days to catch up on my rest. Michelle2 thank you so much for posting in such detail about the movies and shows thats just great. I look forward to reading more as you have time.:cheer2: :cheer2: Robin:yay:

thanks for the updates, Michelle. I am shocked there are only 300 kids onboard! :scared1:

So the wireless internet is in all the staterooms now? Tell us more, please! How much does it cost? That's way too tempting! I would have been able to say no if I had to lug my laptop to the Cove Cafe or other places on deck, but if it's right there in the stateroom, I am not so sure I can say no! :rotfl:

Hi everyone!!!

I'm posting LIVE from my stateroom!

CC was great, hardly anyone was there . They told us there is about 1700 of us on board. Not sure if that's true or not.

Jennifer

That sounds about right. When we dropped Bob and Lee at the port they told us 1950 people on the ship...lots of open cabins, so upgrades were still being given out.

Hey Jennifer!

I am up in the Cove Cafe on my laptop. Wireless does not work in my stateroom - 5024. But the guys are working on it. Saw them on Deck 5 today.

Great day today at Castaway Cay. Having a hard time uploading or even emailing pics out. But keep trying. A bit of lighting in the distance.

We are on our way!!!

Debbie

excellent...so wireless will be working for everyone shortly..hopefully.

Have a great day!

Hi All.
Just thought I see what was posted. Wow! Too many to read at these prices.
Michelle is doing a great job with the reports, I couldn't add anything.
Do have some great pics though if the laptop ever connects.

We are having a great time so far. Weather has been great. Even the first day out in the open sea has been fairly warm. Next few days will tell. Nice seas also.

Wish all of ya were here with us.

Thanks again to Cheryl and Bob for the great ride to the airport. The disney bus is nice, but riding with friends is much nicer.

Jennifer

Jennifer I hope you are having a great time getting the ship prepped for the rest of us 6/6-ers. Seriously, though we will miss you I hope you are enjoying this trip od a life time.

Be careful when doing this with a credit card. Some (I didn't say all) banks/CC companies consider this a cash advance. Bring along some checks to cash, or get some Euros before you go.

May I make a suggestion or two. A couple people on the TA have mentioned this thread is too long to read due to cost of the internet package, and due to the in/out connectivity issues. And the OP made this thread to post live reports in the first place. A lot of us (myslef included) have run this thread up, with non live posts. I suggest
Anyone just subscribing to the thread, you do not need to post to subscribe. Go to the top of the thread, there is a link called thread tools. You can click subscribe there. It may cut down on some "just subscribing" posts.

Questions like this one about Euros, or the one about CC gift, maybe we should post them on another thread. We can start a new one, called something like "Questions for those of you on the Magic for the TA". I am as guilty as anyone, as I have posted answers and maybe more.

By doing this, we may be able to keep the thread manageable, and enjoyable by all, including those currently on the Magic. Anyway, just my 2cents.

Sorry to take up more space. BUT, I just have to say this.

I'm enjoying the live updates Michelle! I was arriving in Boise from Denver on a flight right about the same time you were leaving (11:45 am). Wouldn't it be a hoot if we'd passed you in the boarding area??
