We just returned from a trip to Coronado Springs. On the last night of our 9-night stay, we hired the services of Kid's Night Out. The sitter showed us something I have never read here on these boards (something I thought impossible). Although the resort remotes are not programmed to include Channel 96 when channel surfing, by inputting the number 96 on your remote keypad, you get the Disney movie station that plays in all the hotel lobbies! She said she finds it does not work at all resorts, but it certainly worked at Coronado - my 3-year old son called it "my new Disney channel."

That is great news. Maybe we should keep this thread alive with info on which resorts do have this?

Thanks, ffugitive.

Get outta town! That's awesome!

I've always wondered why they don't have Disney movies running continuously but I guess they do-it's just hidden. :)

Channel 96 has been the best part of my son's frequent visits to Disney World since he discovered it at the age of three. (That was four years ago!) If we are staying at a Disney Resort that offers channel 96 he turns it on as soon as he enters the room and it doesn't go off until we leave.

As the OP stated it is not offered at all resorts-such a bummer. We usually stay at Ft Wilderness in the cabins and it is on there. I wish all the resorts would carry it!

The line-up does not change (a bunch of classic cartoons and a Disney song-a-long song on a loop.) This was a hoot- the last time I visited The World I was with my 20 year old niece. As a child she used to watch the Disney sing-a-long song videos and the one she loved most is the one that is shown on channel 96. When it came on she got the biggest smile on her face and she said, "Oh my gosh-I loved this when I was little!!!!" I loved that and got such a rush of happiness.

Channel 96 rocks!!!

The line up does change, but it doesn't change often. If you've watched the channel over the years, you will notice they have added a sing a long (very long) segment, and removed some cartoons like the one with Pluto and the seals. I don't know if they update it once a year, but it doesn't seem like it's any more often than that. It runs on about a two hour loop, so if there's a cartoon your kids (or you) particularly enjoy, take note of the time it shows. It should show up again in about two hours.

One resort I know that doesn't have it is Pop Century. We watch this channel all the time when we are at Coronado Springs, but when we stayed at Pop Century a couple of times, it wouldn't work.:confused3

It didn't work for us at Pop, either. I'm hoping to get this channel at POR this year.

Maybe it's the values it doesn't work at? We are staying at Coronado, so I'm glad they have it!!:woohoo:

We first took notice of channel 96 about 4 years ago (I could be wrong it seems like it has been that long)-the loop of cartoons remained the same for all that time. I think the new rotation of cartoons and the Sing-along-song started sometime last year. I miss Lambert. DH, DS and myself find ourselves singing "Lambert the sheepish lion..."

I love that Steamboat Willie has been added to the loop-I wish they would add Plane Crazy too!

Yup! Our kids watched it at the Poly, we didn't have to punch it in, it was pre-programmed I believe.

I think this is one of the reasons my children continue to want to vacation at WDW!! They have the shows memorized and would rather watch these than go to dinner some days. It has always been on at the Poly but when we stayed at POFQ last year, they did not have this option on the TV. Kids were pretty sad...

Last January we stayed at ASMu, and they did have it. I found it by surfing.

When we switched to PORFQ, they did not have it.

I am bummed that they don't have it at POP, that is where we will be this August.

ah-hah! That's it! I was in the AKL lobby one night (waiting to see disney channel stars....shhh!) when a child didnt want to leave the TV. A CM said to him that "mickey will be in his room". At first i thought he had won a dream or something! Then i realized he was talking about the channel. When I got to my room later that night, i searched the channel for that station but found nothing!! Thanks for posting this!!

Oh Boy, I can't wait to watch these cartoons over and over again :rotfl: DS discovered this channel staying at the ASMo back in 2003 & we couldn't leave the room if "Lambert" or "Willy & the seal" was on...oh my gosh it got to be so funny how much he looooved that channel.

The channel was still there when we stayed at CSR & the CBR but when we stayed at the Swan, no Disney channel. So my son decided the Swan wasn't so great even though he loved the beds!

Even though he'll be 12 next month, I hope this channel is available at ASsports because it will be fun to see if he'll want to watch it again for old times sakes! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

We were at POR last year and the channel wasn't on our TV.

It would be nice if all resorts could have this channel.

I'd also like to see some of these cartoons on a regular basis on The Disney Channel at home, too! :happytv:

We were at the WL earlier this month and could not that channel on our TV, even when actually punching in "96" on the remote. The only place we could see it was on the TV in the kiddie area on the club level......

I've watched channel 96 in CSR this year (you had to punch in the number) and was beyond disappointed when we were at POR last month and they didn't have it. We're going to the Yacht Club next month and I'm hoping it's available there.

Just wanted to resurrect this thread for any updates on channel 96. Has anyone been able to get the classic cartoon loop at their resort?

I'd like to know if anyone has stayed at Kidani recently and whether it was available.

Boardwalk Villas 7/08It was not available for the rooms at the Boardwalk Inn during my stays there in August 2010 and December 2010, so how could it be available for the rooms at the Boardwalk Villas? They are basically the same resort and etc, with the DVC part being the only difference.

I've read different reports that it's either the type of television to the cable company being used. You'd think they'd at least have the same cable company or a way the channel can be made available at all resorts. We love watching the classics late at night before going to bed.
