I know you're all not doctors but most of us are moms and sometimes moms know better.
Less than 24 hours ago I found out I am pregnant-barely pregnant-but still pregnant! By the time we go to WDW in June I will be starting my second trimester.
I'm not crazy and I'm not going to jeapordize my baby but sometimes I wonder if the whole "not riding if you're pregnant" isn't a little bit of hype.
What are your thoughts? What have your doctors said? Any rides that might be new that I should avoid, any you think the precaution is unnecessary for.

I went pregnant once and we still had a great time, although DH did have to to some of the rides alone. Not going on some of the traditional rides actually opened up an entirely new Disney world to me - there are many rides and attractions I didn't realize existed.
I actually didn't go on any of the ones Disney recommended against, but I do have two friends who went on the Safari ride while pregnant. It is bumpy, but not ridiculously so - you may want to bring this up with your doctor.
Good luck!

There are a few threads about this recently... I'll be 12 weeks when we're there next week! :) For the most part, I'm not planning on riding the restricted rides. An exception for me is the Safari, because I've been on it several times and it's no more bumpy than the roads around here. I've heard it's worse if there has been a lot of rain, and I may reconsider if we have that situation. I doubt that a lot of the rides can do any harm, but it's just not worth risking it in my opinion...we'll be back again before too long.
Congrats on your pregnancy!!

I think it's really up to you and your comfort level - and of course your doctor's advice. Mine told me I could ride almost anything I wanted within reason. He was okay with BTMRR & Space Mtn & Splash Mt....but I wasn't. The only thing I rode with a limitation was the Safari....I just asked to be in the front row and they were more than happy to accommodate me. I was 32weeks when we went. I just knew that if something did happen to the baby and I had rode those rides - regardless of the problem or cause - I would have blamed myself. However....I did see an entirely different side of Disney. It was a wonderful trip!!

I was there in April at 16 weeks, and I'll be there again this weekend at 21 weeks. The rule of thumb that I've used -and others have also suggested- is that if there's no warning for expectant mothers, and no height restrictions, then it's probably OK, but to use common sense. Obviously no coasters, we skipped AK altogether last month because we were there for such a short time, I skipped Test Track but my DH did the single rider...not having to wait in the long lines for the "big rides" also allowed us to simply enjoy the WDW atmosphere. We took lots of sitting breaks, and I tried my best to keep drinking water. This weekend though, my DH plans to ride more of the rides we skipped last time, like the coasters, and I told him that was fine, it would give me time to rest and write postcards! And shop! I had also seen my Dr just before the last trip (and I see her again on Wednesday) and she pretty much said take lots of breaks and stay hydrated- this after I told her I was a WDWaholic so it's not like i'd never been on the rides before.
PS-jupers- congrats on your news!

Use your common sense and let your body be your guide. Safari is like riding on a rough road. Test Track is like riding on the highway in a convertible. I probably wouldn't do a coaster or other high-force ride because of the restraints and my stomach, but those rides are really few and far-between at Disney.
I went to Disney at 6 months pregnant and had a wonderful time.

I went when I was 11 weeks pregnant. I didn't ride any of the pregnancy restriction rides. Just didn't think it worth the risk. Disney will always be there. My doctor explained something about G-force (on rides such as Splash Mountain) can do damage to a developing fetus's brain. I had tons of fun on what I could ride and just watching everyone else. For me, a lot of the magic of Disney is just soaking in all the atmosphere. I would've never lived with myself if something happened to the baby. But, I guess it is a personal choice. But have fun and relax and stay hydrated, whatever you decide.
