Just curious to know if there have been any discounts in the past? We are new to the cruise scene and was interested to know. Thanks!

I cruised DCL three times in July and never had a discount. Sorry....I think they discount in fall and winter months as summer is prime time since school is out....though technically it is still hurrican season.

I think the only discount Disney offers in the summer would be either very early summer last wk of May/ first week of June or near the end of August. We booked early for two cruises so we got a discount that way. Our middle June 2002 cruise(cat, 11) was actually $500 more than our middle August 2003 cruise(with a secret porthole room) :)

We always book far enough in advance to get the Early Booking Savings or as in the brochure EBS. That is about the only discount during those months since I assume they are prime cruising months with children. Summer and no school. We did switch our Aug. 3 cruise to March 16. Our TA called and informed us of a deal DCL was offering. Probably due to Sept. 11 backlash. We are saving $2000 over EBS pricing. Some though it was because children had an offer to fly free. Well it is true our daughter is flying free but the airfare is not $2000 and that is the difference between the two dates. So go figure. We always get adjoining Cat. 6's. I doubt if we see this type of price again. Kathy
Can you tell us more about the special rate you got?

I have been unable to get any discounts for our March 16th cruise. Other than EBS, which wasn't that great.
Thanks

Vonda,
Call whomever you booked with and specifically ask for "Springtime Magic" booking code STM. Or "Sunshine Sailaway" booking code SSO. One of these should work for most March sailing dates unless there's some kind of special event happening on your cruise.

I booked myself and have tried both and nothing. I started looking mid October and ultimately booked Nov. 3rd.

As many schools down south start in mid-August, the last week of August has previously been part of the "Fall Fantasy Promotion". My advice is to book it now to get the early booking discount and the cabin you want before the lower price categories sell out - then hope it goes on sale.
Dreams Unlimited will monitor the sales for you if you use them. If you use another TA just monitor these boards - believe me, we'll let you know of any sales!

Last June or July I booked thru AAA for a cruise for August 2002. It is the last week of August. How can I find out if the rate has gone down? Should my TA have this information?

While these aren't really discounts, this does show the variations among different weeks. I pulled this off of Priceline, which now books Disney cruises. These are only the Eastern weeks.

OK, I think I understand about Julie's good deal. There WAS the special rate available for cruises departing January 3 through March 17, but for cruises departing March 16, those spots are sold out. I checked with Disney, and if I had been able to get that rate, would have saved $400. We're paying $1599 per adult in Cat. 5, $399 for kids, and with that special booking would have paid $1399 per adult (kid rate stays the same). We did get the kids fly free special. Thanks for the tip, and I hope to have better luck next time!
I meant Kathy, not Julie. :)
