DH and I are planning to visit Orlando in July with our 3 daughters. DH and I are trying to eat properly and exercise and we've seen some results! Needless to say, we don't want to see 6 months of hard work disappear after 2 weeks in Orlando! How can we eat well at WDW, without spending a fortune on food. We're travelling from Barbados at considerable expense, so I'm trying to keep our costs (including food) down!

We go to Disney for 2 weeks too and I can definately tell you it's easy to eat bad there, lol. I usually gain 12 pounds each year. This year I plan on trying to not gain that much.

I'm going to try real hard to diet on my drive there and back (at least that will be a few calories saved).

Only drink water (even tea makes me want to put sugar in it). Plus with the heat, this will help me in the long run.

Eat more fish! I really like to eat healthy, I'm going to try to look for the healthiest thing on the menu.

Watch my self at Buffet's and keep myself to 1 plate (or if I must go back - just a small bite of something and only one thing). Watch the desserts. We don't get desserts at regular sit downs. Eat slower at buffets and all you can eats so I don't eat as much.

I already walk a lot at Disney.

At fast food restaurants you can get fruit instead of chips or fries. Look for vegetarian options.

I know I won't be perfect, but if I could even gain only 6 pounds instead of 12 I would be happy. 6 is much easier to deal with afterwards.

It is all what you make it. There are healthy choices available and tons of exercise opportunities, you just have to make the commitment to make good choices. I went for spring break and it was the first time in the park with my new lifestyle. I definitely made better choices than ever before, but I also decided to treat myself, my goal was to gain only 2 pounds, I ended up gaining 4......BUT that was because I allowed myself to indulge. Some things that helped was planning. I packed healthy snacks in the backback and I should have packed water, but forgot. On the drive to and from FL we went to the grocery store and packed our own healthy lunches and snacks....a definite plus over the fast food. I think if I was early on in my weight loss efforts that I would have been more diligent, but I have been good for so long and done so well that I planned on treating myself and then back OP once I got home (which I did). I say if you go with a plan and come prepared you can succeed!!

I went in December, and the big thing that helped me was not eating breakfast out. We would have a breakfast bar and fruit most mornings on our way to the park. I think the other big change I made this vacation was not eating french fries or fried foods. I'd get a salad with a sandwich, or just a salad. At all star movies the salad station was awesome. I think I'd eat healthier at meals, so I'd have room for the treats, like Mickey ice cream bars. Have fun.

If you don't have a car to get your own groceries, check out www.gardengrocer.com. You can order healthy breakfasts and snacks and have them delivered to your room. I like the idea of no fried foods. When I went to the Boma I took about a tablespoon of everything I wanted to try. If I likes something, I went back and got another tablespoon. If I did not particularly care for something, I left it behind.

Rather then loading up your plate at buffets, plan to make several trips. I always serve up from the buffet in courses. Keep your portion to just a taste. Concentrate on the people you are dining with instead of the food.
