I have looked into hotels only a little bit. I don't know where to stay for the 6 of us. Myseld, dh, dd age 12, ds age 13, ds age 8, and dd age 3. I don't want a two room. Where should I stay and why?

Do you want to stay on property? If so you can look into renting a cabin in the Wilderness campground (I've stayed here, it was real nice!) or some of the value resorts now have family suites(never stayed here, maybe ask on the resorts board if it's nice). We stayed off property once at the Nick hotel when it first opened they were having a special but I've seen the prices went up so I would try to get something on property. Good Luck and enjoy the planning! :)

ASMu has "family suites" I have never stayed in one, but we stayed at ASMu last year and the mousekeeper let us walk through one she was cleaning after the guests checked out. They were nice, and I believe they sleep 6. Have 2 bathrooms and a kitchenette.

Without getting two rooms the only places available to you are the ASMu Suites and Villas at the deluxe resorts and you would probably need a two bedroom. You can look into renting dvc points over on the dvc board. They also have a calculator that will tell you how many points you will need and you can guestimate based on what the points are being rented for what the cost would be.

If you're staying off-site anyway I would rent a vacation home with a pool. It can be much less expensive than staying in two hotel rooms. We're a big family and that's what we do. I love it. There's plenty of room for everyone to spread out, we have our own pool, and when the kids are in bed you can stay up without disturbing them. I also like the fact that I have a full kitchen. We usually eat breakfast in and some dinners too.

Me too! We adore the late magic hours in the parks and would pay extra (although the Disney value resorts are cheaper than the dives off property) just to stay on property for this feature alone!
I have heard great things about the suites at the All Star Resort and they do sleep 6.

We just got back last night....sigh. There are 6 of us and we rented a two br two bathroom villa at Orange Lake Country Club and Resort. It was awesome! I think the villa is about 1100 sq feet...so there was plenty of room for everyone. The master has a king, the other bedroom has two queens...and there is a pullout sofa that sleeps 2. We loved it, if you are interested I can try and post pics...we were so impressed we took lots of pictures of the villa. They have an amazing River Island lazy river type pool area with two big water slides, and then just a regular fun pool area with kiddie pools and another slide, water fall feature etc.. that we used. There are several other pools we just didn't make it too. We paid $799 for 8days 7 nights. PM me if you need any further info.

Two connecting rooms worked well for us. We had 4 beds and 2 bathrooms, which I can tell you is really helpful when there is a teenage girl in the group! :hippie:

We are a family of 6 (myself, dh, ds12, ds11, dd6, dd2) and my mom always travels with us so we are a party of 7. For us the best fit has been two rooms at a mod...we really like staying property, we like the mod level, and free dining has been a perk the last few years. Happy vacation planning :-)

We will be staying in 2 rooms at POP in Jan. We will be a family of 6 then and this works well for us. You get 2 bathrooms, 2 sink areas, 4 beds and lots more space. If you are looking at the family suites they are the same as 2 value rooms as far as they are connected by a doorway. These are 2 rooms that were converted to a "suite". My only complaint is that most of the beds are pull out chairs or couches and I wont due pull outs for a whole week. Thats why we opted for 2 rooms with "real" beds. The one nice thing about the suite is that it does have a kitchenette, but thats not enough to tempt me to go there. If you all want to be in the same room on property you would have to go to Ft. Wilderness cabins or a 2BR suite like previous posters have mentioned (but very pricey). My DSis just got back from her first visit renting a house and she said never again. The traveling back and forth and extra money for parking. etc. was not worth it. She said she is back to staying on property again no matter what. I agree totally. It is just so convienent to stay on property.

IMO.......you should stay off-site in a gated community like Windsor Hills.
Why?
Vacation home with plenty of bedrooms and your own pool makes your life sooo much easier.....dd 3 can go to bed while ds 8 watches a movie and DH can take the older 2 to play pool or hang out in community club house. You will have peace. :hippie:
It's hard to keep eyes on 4 kids in a pool, to have your own is heaven. :cloud9:
You can go home without dirty laundry!!! Imagine!!!:woohoo:
You can see things and eat meals outside of WDW.
To sit by the pool after all the kids are put to bed and have a glass of wine with your hubby is the point of a vacation. It's nice to be able to have a little time together even though it is a family vacation! It is so relaxing!!!
