June - Photopass CD Sharing (Update pg 8 - #114)

So, I have read about sharing/splitting the cost of a photopass CD from the Budget Board. This is legal since what you are paying is to get the rights to the pictures - we would just be splitting that cost ($124.99) and shipping (evenly).

Anyhow, I am interested in organizing this shared photopass CD.

Here is my plan - create a neutral email account and photopass account we can share, that way we can all login and add graphics and such to our pictures. I have heard that they do not limit how many pictures you can have on the CD's now (though I have also heard 500). . .but just in case we should set a limit to how many people are sharing - I was thinking about 5 people (could be more or less, but that was my ideal). Then I would put in the order for the CD by the cut off day that we set to be done adding photo's/editing/adding graphics to them.
I would put in the time and CD's (or DVD's) to burn everyone copies and pay the postage to send them out (unless you would want to help with that).

Let me know if you are interested so I can get to organizing.

Does anyone know how long Disney keeps the photo's in their system - that would determine the time frame (i.e. what dates of vacations can be included).

I stated above, I would place the order and we would create a new photopass account with an email account we can share. I would order it - once it arrives and I recieve your cut, I would make your copy and send it to you. Let me know if you would like to be added to the list.


Having someone with a June 10th date means those of us with a later date would have to be done uploading photo's and adding embellishment's before July 9th (should not be a problem) adding photo's means typing in photopass card numbers - and then you can play around by adding disney layoevr's (included in price).

Just remember to get new cards when doing this. You can't put an old card on a new account.
We just reuse our cards and I'm sure others do as well.

Also, remember that you can't go home and load your photos to an account to look at them and THEN put them in the shared account. Each card can only be loaded to ONE account. If you do them yourself, you won't be able to share......

I thought the photo pass was free. They take your photos throughout the park and when you leave and stop at the photo shop you pick out your photos to purchase.

You get all your photos at a high Resolution so you can print them yourself or take them to get printed . It's way cheaper then purchasing them at the parks at $15 a pop. This also comes with a release so you can get them enlarged or anything else.

Hi Adi and all others interested. I already have a photopass account from past WDW trips. I took the following from their website...

Disney's PhotoPass Photos

Photos linked to a Disney's PhotoPass ID will be available online by the morning after the photos were taken. Guests must claim photos within 30 days from when the photos were taken. Photos not claimed within 30 days from which they were taken will no longer be available. Once photos are claimed and associated to a DisneyPhotoPass.com account, they will be available for viewing, sharing and purchasing for 30 days from the date they were claimed, after which the photos will no longer be available.

So we have 30 days from when they're taken to enter them, and then they are available for 30 days. Since I will probably be the last one....getting back the 28th, I will need to hurry my butt up and get mine in there.

Just want to reiterate for anyone else interested. Do NOT open your own photopass account to look at your photos. Once they are in one account they can't be put into another one. Disney changed this a little while back, probably to discourage exactly what we are doing.

I'm sharing a photopass with some other DISers in May and we're under the impression that the photos disappear (aka expire) 30 days after they are taken. It looks like you all are adding 30 days to the date you add them to a photopass account. Do you know for sure when the photos expire? TIA.

To answer your question about the deadlines, I believe this is how it works.

You have 30 days from the time the pics are taken to enter them into a photopass account online. Once they are entered online you have 30 days to order prints, or in our case a CD.

I could be wrong, but that is how I THINK it works.

I'm going the same time you are (minus one day) and I think I'd like to get in on this (if that's still an option). I wasn't going to when you originally posted but now I'm thinking it might not be a bad idea.

I think I get the concept but I'd love an explaination on what to do from beginning to end. Also it would make me feel really good about doing this if we knew the exact expiration dates. Maybe you've done this before so you know for sure...I just haven't and would hate to get a ton of pics done and then get home only to find the account has expired :(

Says from the date claimed. . . . not from when they were taken. . . . so I think you have 30 days to get them in and then 30 while they are on file. . .


In another FAQ they state:

If it has been more than 30 days since your photos were taken and/or more than 30 days since you initially claimed your photos at DisneyPhotoPass.com, they may no longer be available in the system. Please see our storage policy for further details.

Here is how it will work out. . .

Hello there. . . here is how the share is going to work:

1. I am going to create an email and a brand new photopass account.
2. You go on your trip, take loads of photopass pictures (when you go to your first photographer they will give you a card that is scanned after every picture you take)
3. Once you return from your trip (as long as it is after June 10th) you can log onto the account and add your photopass card numbers (We try just to get one, but if one of the days you go to the parks you forget your card, you can get a new one, still free).
4. You have until July 7th to add all your pictures and add embellishments to the pictures (instructions on how will be on the account once you log in).
5. I will order the CD for us all and burn copies for everyone on CD’s or DVD and mail them to you all for free (unless you are so inclined to help out).
6. Once I receive your payment for your portion (and I have received the photopass and burned the copies) I will send you your copy. And then you will have all your memories to do what you please with them forever without having to pay $12 per 5x7 or $125 plus shipping for your own . . .

I am a crazy planner . . . wouldn't be on dis if I wasn't. .. . so I decided to break down what the costs will be. . .


$137.94 total ($124.95+12.99 s/h)

4 people sharing = $34.49 per person
5 people sharing = $27.59 per person
6 people sharing = $22.99 per person
7 people sharing = $19.71 per person
8 people sharing = $17.25 per person
9 people sharing = $15.33 per person
10 people sharing = $13.80 per person

My only concern in organizing this is that initially I though I would be giving away 5 DVD's with CD's to them and as this grows it will cost me more and more, plus shipping to all of you. So, if you find it in your kind hearts to throw in an extra couple bucks I would really appriciate it. . . OR how would you each feel about adding $2-3 to the total? Let me know how you feel about that. . .

When they take a photo of us for the first time in the park that will establish the card, is that right? Then I download my pics, while I'm at the park, onto this same card? Can I add more from my own pc if I download my pics to it later?

Does the physical card get shared or just the card number?

How do I access my photos later, after the agreed on timeframe - using that number to login to the account?

I've never used these cards before so if we can outline the process I can make sure I'll do my part correctly.

You can add multiple cards to each Photopass account. When you return from a trip you usually collect your cards and go to the website. You log in with an account you create, then you input all your photo pass numbers. It then finds your pictures. You can view your pics, add your embelishments, then purchase or put on a CD. What we are going to do is get one photopass card per family, ADI is going to create the account then give us the info on how to log in. We will then add our photopass number to the account then she will order the CD when everyone has had time to add their pass numbers and embelish their photos. She will copy it and then send it to us. It is simplier then it sounds.

Here is how it is going to work:

1. You go on your trip, the first photopass photographer you use will give you a photopass card (like a gift card). Each time after that you get them to take your pictures you will let them scan your card. This keeps all your pictures together – if one day you forget your card, it is ok, you can get a new one, but your pictures will be on more than one card – not an issues. The photopass website will let you add multiple cards (which is how we are able to share) (This link will help you find photopass spots: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1409128 ; these will explain how photopass works further if I am not clear: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/special/specialindex?id=DisneyPhotoPassPage ; http://www.allearsnet.com/tp/ppass.htm ). You DO NOT have to do anything other than have them snap pictures and scan the card – no uploading at parks or anything. Just find the photographer, hand them your card and have them take pictures – it is that easy :)

2. Each of us will have our own card(s). So keep them with you.

3. I will create our very own photopass account to share. You can ONLY add your card numbers (pictures) here. To add the picture you log on and add your photopass card numbers (if you have any issues when that time comes, I can help you). Once they are up you can edit them/add embellishments. Only add your photopass card pictures here, not your personal camera ones. If you add your cards(pictures) to another account they will not be able o be added to our shared account – the website will only let you have your card on one account.

4. None of us should start adding our card numbers (pictures) until June 10th at the earliest!! We must all be done adding pictures and done adding pictures/embellishing by July 7th!!

5. On the 8th I will order our CD(s).

6. Once I receive the CD’s and your portion of the cost I will make your copy and send it along to whatever address you provide me.

I can view and print my personal photos whenever I want.

I will wait to add my park photos on photopass until June 10th.

I'm going with another family and I'd like to ask my friend if she'd also like to share. I didn't ask her earlier because I wasn't sure if we could share while being there at the same time. The last time I was there you just viewed your pics in the hugely, long line at the photo center and paid then. I'm glad to see the system is improved.

I'm sure she'll want in but I'll confirm this week.

just FYI...

last week we bought the CD in the park. They had a special going where I got all my pics on CD plus 3 "free" 5x7 printed for 79.95. We combined 2 passes that we had picked up during our 6 day stay.

We did not get to add all the fancy boarders to our pictures on the CD, but seemed like a deal to me.

DH and I drove all the way out to Walmart today and I decided to take advantage of their cheaper prices to buy padded envelopes (bubble wrap lined envelopes), and DVD's to burn the pictures onto (DVD's fit over 6 times the amount of pictures that you can fit onto one CD) and tape to seal the envelopes and such (but since I will not use all of it on these envelopes and shipping I am not including it below).



Here is what everything cost me:



Padded envelopes, got three packages of 5:

3(2.38)=7.14 $7.14+tax (5%)= $7.50/15 = 50 cents per person



DVD-R's, 20 pack in jewel cases:

$14.28+tax = 14.99/20 = 75 cents per person



Postage:

Postage (per person): $1.81 (calculated on usps.com - based on my home scale - 7 ounces total)



TOTAL Per Person: $3.06 Total per person


So, if you could all please add that to your portion of the CD cost that will cover shipping to you via first class mail, if you want priority mail I can do that too, but we would have to calculate the cost. The CD may be less than the $124.99+12.99 shipping from photopass, if we are blessed with a discount - but as of right now we have over 10 people sharing, so the CD's are costing us very little - including the DVD/envelopes/shipping from me. As long as no one drops out we will definitely be under $20 total per person, if not less :)

PS DH will be scaning the reciept and I will post it as soon as he does to show you all the expenses from above :)

I did have one question as our trip approaches...we have several family members going and I just wanted to confirm that if we get more than one claim ticket that I'll be able to enter them all into the account (after the trip)? For example, if a few of us are at DL and some are at DCA and each group gets their pics taken I can collect them all at the end of the trip and enter them in?? Just wanted to double check that this was ok.

Yes - you can enter in more than one card. For conviniene purposes I would just try to get one or two cards.

ALSO - big tip for everyone: Once you get your card I suggest taking a picture of the back of it. Your photopass card nmber is there, and if you lose tha card, but still have the number you will still be able to claim your photos. (We also do this with tickets at WDW and it is helopful in case you lose them). Anyhow, it is a good tip for all of us to follow :)

I had the same question since we're a big group and we'll be splitting up from time to time so I will probably end up with more than one card. I'll make sure we do the photo of the card number for each so we don't lose track.

Since I'm down to single digits until our vacation (yea! :cool1: ) I want to confirm that basically I'll do nothing with these numbers while I'm in the park but I'll wait until after June 10th to go on-line and you'll give me the account number to login to with my card numbers.

I can't view any of the photos in the park or can I and still not mess up the shared photopass process (?)

Yes, they do combine. I just shared with someone and she was at WDW and I was at DL.

I can't stress this enough...you cannot view your pictures under any other user-name or account. If you all know the user info. beforehand, it shouldn't be an isue at all, but we had four people who were going to go together for this and then it got messed up because two of them logged in while they were at Disney...didn't realise that was the same thing.

When we were at DLR for three days in March/April, we had 12 pictures taken. They all had three or four backgrounds that you could add, and I went in and applied pretty much them all to each of the pictures. A few I changed the layout from verticle to horizontal and put stuff on. I think I ended up with about 50 pictures at the end. But, since I only had 12, I think I was fairly crazy about it.

At DLR, all the character meeting/greeting has the option and then various backdrops (we got in front of Mickey & train, three different places in DCA, the castle and space mountain. It doesn't include any of the pictures on the rides, nor any of the character meals (a disappointment for us.)

Wow...I am getting excited about this and my trip is still a month away. Sorry I am on the tail end and I know you all will be waiting for me to put mine in ASAP. However, I think that maybe if the others put them in and then some time lapses without having ordered the CD we may be more likely to get some sort of discount code, know what I mean?

Anyway...just wanted to throw that out there and check in. I WILL be putting my pics in the day after I get home...the 29th. Hopefully it won't take me too long to fool with borders and such, but luckily I am not a procrastinator.

Hi. Just returned from DL. You can check your Photopass pictures at the Main Street Photo Shop at any time without fear of goofing up your online account. They'll ask you for your card, then they scan it and you look at it on their monitors. No problem. Also, if you have multiple cards and want to consolidate them onto one card, they can do this for you. It takes about 2 minutes. And again, they assured me that it has nothing to do with your online access at disneyphotopass.com. hth

I'm sharing with another DISer who setup out account. She received an email allowing her to order the CD for only approx $65...but she had to order within (I think) two weeks of creating the account and adding the first card.

I really appreciate the work you're doing so we can all enjoy our vacations and not worry so much about that big photopass charge hanging over our heads! This will be really affordable and even if I only had one or two pics I wanted, I'd still be coming out ahead.

Quick question - we had about 7 cards between all of us in the group and we accidentally got duplicate images, about 6 of them, and I'm not seeing a way to "un-upload" the duplicates.

Is it OK to just leave them or is there a way to delete them?

You can do Paypal without fees. I have done this numerous times to pay a friend my share of a hotel room and my sister has used it to pay me.

As long as you don't do the business section of Paypal, then there are no fees. If your account is verified, we can send you money through a personal transfer and then Paypal will transfer the money to you account.

No fees involved!

I have heard back from a few of you (if you sent me an email I am sure I got it), but not from all of you. I would like to hear back from everyone of you that participated in adding your photo's to let me know you have uploaded them to the site from your photopass cards AND are done with editing. You absolutely HAVE to be done tomorrow evening 7/8 by 11:59 pm - I am placing the order on 7/9 because some in our group will lose photo's on the 10th.

I also need to hear from you to keep you in the count for splitting the cost and mailing you a CD/DVD once I receive the one from photopass and your part of the payment.

In order to not get charged fees I need to have a personal account (mine is premiere because of my eBay selling, but my Husband's is personal so I can use that) AND you have to use a paypal balance OR eCheck to pay without me getting charged fees. I did have some duplicates because during group photos they put the pics on my card and my daughters or sisters cards. Let me know if you need me to delete about 10 - 12 pics.

DVD's just fit more than a CD. . . they should be able to read it - if not all you have to do is find your picures on it, and copy them from there to whatever media they can read - or just upload it right onto their website.
