Hello! I was wondering about Misty Mates. Saw one at our local drugstore and wondered how people like them. I have used mister fans before, but not Misty Mates (which seem to have mist but no fan).

Thanks for the input.

I have used these in the past at DW and was asked a million times where I got them. I used them in August one year and they really did the trick for keeping everyone cool. They mist you without soaking you. Also the bonus is that they use no batteries. Just add water (where you can get anywhere in disney i.e watwer fountain, bathroom sink) pump it a few times and it sprays a fine mist. Best thing I brought to Disney. Don't leave it out though. We left ours in the stroller while we were eating in Epcot and someone stole ours. Happy Disney!

I bought mine from QVC last summer and I take them everywhere. They are slim enough that you can easily slide them into an outside pocket on a backpack or a purse. They are much more portable than our fan but you do miss the breeze from the fan. When the water inside them gets warm they are easily refilled from a fountain or our water bottle. We use them on the beach,at the parks and my son has taken it to baseball practice too.

I picked up a pack of them at BJs. I plan on using them this September when we go. They seem to work really well.

We have this misty mate. http://mistymate.com/cb02.html We purchased it at walgreens last year for around 10 dollars. It is great small enough to fit in my pocket and not heavy at all. It doesn't take batteries you just fill it the bottom is a little pump that you pump a couple of times and you are good to go until you open it to put more water in. This and a small fan can go into you pocket and you are good to go w/ out it being heavy or strenuous to carry in the heat.

ETA: We also have this one http://mistymate.com/mmp16.html but in the end it never left the room b/c it was more convient to carry the small one around.

Cancer Survivor 06, the one you got at Walmart is the same as the ones I got at BJs. They came in a pack of 3 (yellow, blue and green) for under $20. My DW wants the yellow one and I will probably use the blue one. Can't wait.:yay:

Just a little tip I add ice cubes to my misty mate and it keeps you super cool! If you add all ice in the Am it will melt throughout the day!
I love mine it is a larger model but has a carrying strap and holds more liquid!

Oh, those small ones look neat.

I have a large misty mate that I take. The negative to it is that it is a bit large, but the good part of it being large is that you can put ice in it and the water stays nice and cool.

EDIT: I missed your post Kat...but looks like we think alike.

I think the MistyMates work much better than the fan things. I LOVE mine!! I have the big one, the Jr size and just bought the little ones in a 3-pack at BJ's. They are much easier to manage than the fans and work so good! I'm surprised that Disney does not sell them. I remember one August in Orlando when the MisyMate saved us from total meltdowns. Can you tell I love these things?? :goodvibes

I see that people got Misty Mate 3-packs at BJ's. Anyone find them at Costco?

Tried the BJs in Baltimore. They had them in inventory (72 pieces) put they had not put them on the floor yet. They told me they would bring them down overnight.
3 pack for $19.99

My DH loves them so much he has 2 ;) He's a cop and finds them extremely beneficial in the summertime- specifically when he's working a traffic detail. There's nothing worse than being in a navy uniform, made of a poly/wool blend and wearing a vest that doesn't breathe.

If I remember correctly he's even used one on a bike ride- putting the containeer in one of the water bottle holders on his bike. hey, whatever works!

They're definitely a great idea and the carry strap is helpful. I'd definitely use one if we were at the parks in hot weather.

The only thing that we have is sam's so if you or your dw come accross them there please let me know. I try to avoid them and walmart like the plague especially when I am trying to save as much money as possible for disney. I would love to buy some more dd just broke our green one and I haven't seen them in the stores here yet.

I just bought the smaller misty mate (green) at our local Walmart for $7.99. They were in the fan section. I wasn't sure if I was buying the right thing, but after reading this thread I'm glad I bought it! I will definately remember the ice trick! Thanks guys!

I just bought the small one and love it. I am going to buy more for our WDW trip so that everyone can have their own. I don't want to share. . .lol.

We've used the fan thing but I hate to get soaked. . .love the fine mist of the misty mate. . .

Thanks for all the great replies, everyone! I'm sold - I'm going to get one. I wish we had a BJ's around here (apparently, we don't have them in Washington state), but I found some places to buy them online.

I had tried the WDW mister fans before but didn't like them because they're so bulky and heavy. Can't wait to try the small Misty Mate!!

If you live by a Walmart you can check there too! I found mine there in the fan section for $7.99. If that's a possibility you might check it out to save on the shipping cost!

Enjoy!

Just to clarify, are "misty mates" found at BJ's actual misty mates??

what about the ones at walmart??

i see the link to Misty Mates and they are 15$ each. so 15 for 3 would be a deal for sure, but wanted to make sure we were all talking about the same thing.

i've seen the ones at walmart with the carabiner and fan on it, but it takes batteries. these "misty mates" are better?

The ones found at BJs are official Misty Mates. The actual package reads "Misty Mate Cool Blast Mister 2.5 oz Portable Mister 3 Pack!" They come in a package of yellow, blue and green. I purchased them for my upcoming trip in September and my daughter saw them yesterday morning so I had to go to BJs and pick her up a 3 pack for her trip this morning. They were $15.99 for the 3 pack.

There are no batteries needed for these. You just fill them up, pump them up and press the button. They spray a nice amount of mist without soaking you.:goodvibes

I went to our local SuperWal-Mart yesterday and looked EVERYWHERE for those Misty Mates and I couldn't find them! I went though the fan area 3 times, the seasonal area 2 or 3 times, the front of the store, the camping area, the sports area....I guess they don't have them at our store. They sound awesome for my August trip...I'll keep looking!:)

I bought the Misty Mate Cool Blast at Walgreens in Kissimmee last year, we loved it. I pulled it out the past weekend to begin packing and my 18 month old destroyed it. I searched every Walgreens, CVS, Eckerds, WalMart and Target within 30 miles - NOTHING. Finally found them at BJ's in the 3 pack. I am not a member of BJ's but the cashier let me check out using a generic membership when I explained that I only needed 1 thing and it was not worth the price of membership and I left my one day pass at home (which by the way carries a 15% surcharge). $15.99 is a deal, I paid $8.99 last summer for one.

Needless to say, DS will not have access to any of the Misty Mates. :rotfl:

Misty mates are great. I picked mine up at Walgreens for $7.99 (wish I would have got 2). Nice thing is they fit in my bag and don't have to worry about batteries. It is a good refreshing mist of water and the water never did have to refill the reserve during the day.

Now.. if you can't find them before your trip, we did see them in the MK at the little outdoor shop in Toontown at the barnstormer exit and their price was only $9.95.

Wow--I have to admire your persistence! Sorry that it's not working out and good luck with finding them.
FWIW when I looked in my local Walgreens (walking distance from my house and I was there to pick up a load of other things anyway) I couldn't find them, and when I asked the manager he helped me look in the section with fans but he had never heard of them and didn't know anything about them. He said to ask the clerk for a raincheck in case they got them in sometime. Then I noticed another aisle with seasonal stuff, including water bottles, and I spotted them--a tray with around 20 of them! Just as well I kept looking!

WDW is now selling Misty Mates. I didn't price them, but they are on the carts with the Mickey fans. All the Walgreens in the Kissimmee area also have them. If you can't get one locally you can always pick one up when you get there.

Hi.. in Toontown they were priced at $9.95 (same one I purchased at Walgreens for $7.99), not a bad Disney Price. I never did see them on the carts with the spray fans, but only at the outdoor shop at the barnstromer exit.

DH said he thought they were around $10 at WDW and $7.99 @ Walgreens. They are well worth it and so much more convenient than the misty fans. DH and DS each kept one in their pockets even though we were lucky and didn't need them last week.

Hi
I bought a Misty Mate at CVS and it didn't work. I took it back and bought another one, and that didn't work. I emailed the company. They were so great. They sent me a box full of them in all different colors. Red, black, green, blue, pink and purple. I emailed them back to thank them. We used them last year in Disney, and I gave quite a few away to other people that I know could use them. They're a great company!!!:thumbsup2

Hi! It's the original poster again. Just went to Walgreens and picked up my Misty Mates on sale ($5.99 each!). After scouring the seasonal section for about 15 minutes (and getting pretty frustrated!), I checked the smaller seasonal section that had the electric fans in it. Eureka! There were about 7 or 8 Misty Mates just laying on the shelf by the fans, tucked between some other things. If I hadn't been looking so carefully, I would have totally missed the.

So, everybody, look by the electric fans!

For whatever reason my Walgreens didn't put them next to the fans--instead they were with the seasonal summer toys like swim goggles and water pistols. No wonder I couldn't find them at first and the manager I talked to had never heard of them.

FWIW, the walgreens i went in, I tore the seasonal sections apart. bottles, fans, beach chairs, wiffle ball sets, swimmies, corona gift sets(thought i had seen it all??:scared: ), squirt guns, beach balls, sunglasses, coolers, i looked at it all.

love my misty mates, used it yesterday at a baseball game it was 91. very nice.

wow, I saw these way back in Feb/Mar I think in our local BJ's and bought them on my next trip after looking on line and a little research.

I then posted about them on a thread where folks where looking for small mister fans and everyone seemed to think I was nuts or just ignored my comment and kept running after the tiny clip on fans with batteries!

so glad a few have found out how great these are.

my kids have been using them non stop and ours seem very durable.

can't wait for Sept. Everyone have a great trip!

I bought one yesterday and took it to the pool to see how it worked. My kids fought over it all day. I am going back to get a few more for our trip next week. I think my 70 year old inlaws will enjoy them. I love that they are small and can find in my bag and not have to hang on my shoulder.

Hey fellow Michigander--I did the same thing as you on Sunday (but only went to two walgreens) The second one said they would call around to other stores and have them delivered to their store if they found them. They located 2 and I got them today. Don't know where you are but we are a suburb of Grand Rapids.

They are superb and very light weight. Hope they work in WDW heat!

I did a Froogle.com search :surfweb: and found that QVC had a combo of 2 Misty Mates and 4 Cooling Bandanas for $20ish with shipping of $5. I've never ordered from them before so we will soon see. Perhaps there's hope for a reasonably cool July visit to WDW!

We just got back and used the small ones from the 3-pack at BJ's. We did not need them often, but this is my big tip--The water bottle holders they sell at WDW work perfectly to hold these around your neck. Very easy and quick way to cool off!!

Please don't flame me but...............

I was an employee of BJ's years ago and have been a member ever since. BJ's has Self Check Out. You don't need your own ID to use the Self Check Out. Any BJ'd ID will work. Non-expired of course. So if you don't have a membership but know someone who does, you can borrow theirs and use the Self Check Out. Just remember when you are leaving the store that you need to keep your receipt out for security to check it.

And to not be OT, I will be looking for these. I was going to buy the fans but I like the size of these better.
