My husband took a medical exam for his life insurance and we were SHOCKED when his cholesterol level came back at 256! He's 27, not over weight, and generally eats well, but it apparently runs on his mom's side of the family pretty prevelently.

Obviously we're going to have to make some eating changes and I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas about how to adapt their diets (dinners, etc) to this new problem. Thanks for any help!

I was around the 250 mark at one time. Try to eat the leanest cuts of meat, you don't have to eliminate red meat...just get the leanest cuts possible. Stay way from the dressings. Exercise is also needed to lower cholesterol. These things should help to lower his cholesterol. Some individuals can not lower it no matter what they do. Mine was down in the 180's the last time I checked a little over a year ago.
