For those of you who have taken your 2 yrs olds to MGM have you done the Great Movie Ride? That's one of DH's favorite rides. DS4 will be fine on it but I'm not sure about DD2. DH thinks it's not an issue.

What do you think?

My dd was 3 when she went on it with us in 2004 and did fine. The only thing that even remotely spooked her was the part of the movie Alien.

My 2 year old that was afraid of everything this time actually liked the great movie ride. We distracted during the Alien part and he was fine.

My 2 year olds did fine.

My 9 year old still hides during the Alien part!

My DD has done the Great Movie Ride at age 1, 2 & 3 and it has never been a problem. We do try to distract her from the "alien", but she has done fine.

The shoot-out is LOUD (and so is the western bank robbery, but I think they took that out), just don't look up during the Alien scene, the Indy scene can be intense too, and the witch is a bit scary too (and loud). If that is too much, your time may be better spent collecting autographs around the sorcerer's hat -- they have about 4 character stations around that plaza. I have seen Chicken Little and Abby, Daisy and Donald, Minnie, Chip n Dale and Clarice, Tigger and Robin Hood, Sherrif and Friar Tuck out there. Have a great trip!

Our little guy did fine on that ride. He got scared during Indiana Jones.

Our 2 YO got a little freaked out and cried when the bad guy took over the car. I think the generally noisiness of it also got to him.

I didn't take my son who was 2 on it last year and I so wanted to ride. Then a couple days later when I and my family split up for a bit my dd took him on it and said he loved it. She said she distracted him for alian and he was fine for the rest.

My 20-month old (at the time) loved the whole thing, from the Aliens to the shootouts... He especially loved clapping at the end. :rotfl:

Our boys have gone on that since they were 10 months old. My youngest (no 23 months old) loves the bubble part, was clueless during the alien part and the worse part with him was watching the movie clips at the end because we weren't moving anymore.

I covered DD2 when we got to the Ailien part. She has not been back in since. We instead go to Little Mermaid while the rest of the crew goes to GMR.

DD6 did not like it at all, and DD2 was a little spooked, but okay. I think that she was in my lap the whole time. There are signs outside the ride that say something about the ride being frightening. I didn't remember anything frightening (but I hadn't riden the ride with children), so we rode it. I wish that we would have skipped it completely, but then I'm not a fan of the ride.

My DD7 was almost 3 the first time she rode GMR. I had forgotten how loud it can be. She sat on her cousin's lap(DN20 ) and she covered her ears during the noisiest parts. I don't remember if she saw the Alien in the ceiling, or not. She doesn't think she did that time. She likes the ride now, it doesn't scare her, now that she's 7.

My son was a little younger - 15mos at the time - and he had a great time with it. He's a little over 2yrs now and has seen Wizard of Oz, and is excited about being able to see those guys on the Great Movie Ride on our next trip! :)

The biggest problem we've had is the length of time you're away from the bathroom LOL! My poor DD wet her pants on the ride. She hadn't been potty trained that long and waited until the ride we were on the ride to say she had to go.

The first time I went on the Great Movie Ride was when I was 4, and I absolutely hated the part from Alien. (Mostly because my father hovered over me for the entire beginning telling me about the scary aliens, so that when they showed up I was terrified to tears. Yeah Dad, I remembered it after all this time!! :rotfl: ) I liked the rest of the ride except for the Wizard of Oz, probably because I just never really liked that movie. (I love Wicked though. :rolleyes1 )

I think if you take the time to sit down and help them ignore anything that might be scary by holding their hand, laughing, hugging etc it'll help. At least it always did when was babysitting. :goodvibes
