I wasn't sure where a good place to post this was. But we've been having many discussions at work about Global Warming. Because of "An Inconvenient Truth" and all the propaganda - we've done some interesting fact finding. Here is an interesting scientific response:

This should be over on the CB but I've heard about the film maker and the controversy of his documentary. I don't understand why the experts who go against "the machine" are ridiculed and in some cases threatened.

I have nothing to add to this thread. I haven't even read a single post on it. But I have been looking at Charade's name everyday for a while on the top of the CB. Because he was the last to post here. So I figured I'd still the limelight and post something and have people see my name all the time. Well, we'll see how long it lasts. :rolleyes1

By the way, I don't believe global warming is man made phenomenon. We've only effected the planet in minor ways compared to what happens naturally. Yes, I think it's a natural process the earth goes through. It cools, it warms, it cools and so on. But I do believe conservation is a good thing. A cleaner, healthier planet is nothing but good.

UF started the love bug thing here in Fl! At least that's how the urban legend goes. (They're really from Central America) And they don't have two heads. They're mating. There are two of them joined doing the nasty.

I have decided that I will no longer read any political threads here on the Dis. For the longest I've tried to not participate, but I still read them. Now I will try to no longer read them. People are so set in their ways that a message board will not change their views and I couldn't give a rat's hairy butt if they do.

I don't know why I take some of these threads personally. What others think of Bush, Condi, O'Reilly, etc., has little effect on my life. But I read these things and think "what a stupid, arrogant..." and why? Because they don't think like I do. That's stupid. I don't want to have bad thoughts about anyone. Even if they are liberals.

I'm just going to keep on voting with my heart. Wrong or right, that's all I have.

I tend to agree. I don't mind particpating in healthy dialog about hot issues but as usual, they tend to quickly degrade into a slamfest of the other poster's character instead of their opinions.

Yes, it is. Actually I run a turtle rescue farm. With the temperatures of the world's oceans rising (because of that pesky global warming thing) the turtles are having a hard time adjusting. So I take the turtles and put them in these huge tanks where I slowly adjust the temperature everyday. Slowly going higher and higher until the turtles are acclimated and can be released back into the wild. It's not easy but I just wanna do my part.

while living on the coast for several years, I fed a gopher turtle. which are illegal to own. i tried everyone i knew to take this turtle. (it was illegal to remove him) He just came up and made his home under my deck. Boy can he run fast! when we sold the house I told the new owners that they must care for the turtle. I pray that they did. Then katerina hit. I often wonder what happened to him. I'm with you on the turtles. posted by (mrs.incredible)

That's an awesome thing you do! I finally realized a dream of mine and swam with (well, not with, but what other word can I use?) a sea turtle in the wild on St John, USVI. It was an awesome experience. He/she was eating the sawgrass in about 6ft water. Yes, I stayed back so I wouldn't disturb it and I didn't touch it. It did start to surface between my ankles but it decided to dive back down at the last minute. Let me tell you, my heart stopped b/c here I was just floating, trying not to disturb it and it almost ran into me! It was an experience that my 8 yo son hasn't forgotten either. He's all about some snorkeling and scuba diving now. Who knows, maybe he'll be a marine biologist!
